Alexis Martinez Death: Two people found shot to death including an NYPD officer in a Bronx apartment.

According to the police, on Wednesday August 2, a father and his adult son were both shot in the head in a Bronx apartment and it is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

Police said, The younger man was an NYPD officer, and he was shot by his father in a bedroom as he lay sleeping. The father, who police believed to be the culprit, then laid down beside his son and took his own life, police added. police believed the father had used his son’s weapon in the shootings.

Police named the 26-year-old cop who was killed as Alexis Martinez.

Martinez was a member of a police officers’ baseball team.

According to the authorities, when he didn’t show for a game on Wednesday, his teammates arrived at his apartment on Fteley Avenue near E. 172nd Street in Soundview around noon.

The officers discovered both men dead from gunshots wounds to the head. They recovered a gun in the bedroom and shell casings at the scene.

Police said, the dead officer had been visiting his father’s home and did not live with him full-time.

The officers who went to the home looking for their baseball teammate were still on scene wearing their baseball jerseys Wednesday afternoon.

According to police records, the victim joined the NYPD in 2018 and was assigned to the Bronx Narcotics Unit, He had also worked in the 34th Precinct in upper Manhattan.

In a solemn display, officers maintained a hushed demeanor while extending a respectful salute to their fellow officer. The dead officer, was carefully transported on a stretcher and placed into a police department ambulance that had been prepared and positioned nearby.

In an ongoing investigation, the police are diligently working to gather information on Wednesday evening. Additionally, they are making efforts to inform the mother of the deceased officer about the tragic incident.
