44-year-old Annette Özaltin from McLean, Virginia, died tragically and very unexpectedly from injuries sustained in a car accident on I-495 Washington Beltway Saturday morning, October 21, 2023.

Annette was an incredibly accomplished world health professional, an amazing wife, mother of 2 special boys, fierce adventure traveler and all around humanitarian. She will be sorely missed by many.

The details concerning the circumstances surrounding the crash is yet to be made available, as investigation is ongoing.

Many of you know my sister, Annette Özaltin, from family members to high school friends that overlapped with her for a year, and you know that she was smart, creative, kind, thoughtful, and a fantastic wife and mother of two boys. Sadly, at the entirely-too-young age of 44, her charm and intelligence was extinguished this morning as she passed away following a car accident on the DC beltway.

It is with great pain, sadness, and heavy heart that we’ve had to say goodbye to one of the most special humans on this Earth. My dear friend Annette Özaltin sadly was in a tragic car accident Saturday morning on the I-495 Washington Beltway. An incredibly accomplished world health professional, an amazing wife + mother of 2 special boys, fierce adventure traveler and all around humanitarian. There are just too many special moments that are flashing before me and I’m still processing this terrible loss. The world lost a force of nature. Annette, I will love you forever and thank you for being the most incredible friend I could’ve ever been blessed with.
