Beckham's baggy jeans, Ronaldo's topless ads and Zidane's skinny turn-ups.. football's fashion denim disasters

FROM Lionel Messi to Luis Suarez and David Beckham to Dele Alli, they have all delved into double-denim.
But when Zinedine Zidane wandered out for the unveiling of his Real Madrid return wearing skinny jeans with a giant turn-up, fashion in football got called into question.

And it is the relationship with denim in particular that has been most strange.
We have had the club uniforms, the stars with their own collection of double-denim sets, and then the clear clothing faux pas.
But, first, the man many consider to be the ultimate chic superstar.
CRISTIA-NO

To promote the CR7 Junior collection, Juventus front man Cristiano Ronaldo used his then seven-year-old son Cristiano Jnr.
These jeans were dubbed "the future of denim" and described as "more than a denim brand, it's a way of life".
A pair of skinny jeans would have set you back £44 while a charcoal jacket was the most expensive item at £52.
Ronaldo and Cristiano Jnr posed topless in a pair of jeans for the adverts.
DELE DENIM

Dele decided to keep his clothes on when he launched a clothing collection on BoohooMAN three years later.
Dele's combined double-denim outfit costs a total of £43.
And the Spurs star was thrilled to be showing off his style, saying: "Fashion has always been an interest of mine and it was great to be able to play a part in the design process.
"I’m really looking forward for everyone to see the collection."
While Dele went on his own, some players feel more confident in a group.
BOYS IN BLUE

When Barcelona's plane landed in Berlin for the 2015 Champions League final against Juventus, the men who stepped off were pretty eye-catching.
Each member of the squad was seen wearing a light blue denim shirt along with a pair of dark jeans.
And the 18-man group was being used to promote a line of clothes by the club.
The Spanish giants had a collection out in collaboration with Replay which were launched on the Catalan club's website.
Jeans are tinged with maroon and blue, cost £75 a pair, and are currently out of stock.
And Barca are not the only club to enter this kind of collaboration.
LIV BY LEVI'S

Last year, Liverpool announced a new apparel range in conjunction with the huge denim brand Levi's.
They range in price from a £25 t-shirt to £95 slim fit jeans and a £120 denim jacket.
These appear to be for the fans who don't want to shout about their affiliation, as a subtle 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is woven into the neck and the Liverpool badge on a tag.
Fortunately for Liverpool's stars, Levi's had their own models.
CITY SLICKERS

While there's no clothing collaboration over at Manchester City, there are quirky uniforms.
Pep Guardiola's players are often dressed up in a style that's not quite as attractive as their football.
Guardiola goes for the smart-casual look when it comes to his squad - and denim is regularly used.
They've been spotted wearing an outfit of jeans, shirt and tie, and biker jacket, as well as a denim shirt with suit trousers.
BECKS & THE BAGGIES

Style icon Becks has messed up on a few occasions, and his baggy denim jeans didn't last very long.
Neymar's was not out of choice, however.
Seen below, the Brazilian superstar was dressed in a charcoal double-denim outfit for a Replay campaign.
We can forgive him for that.
