Cathy Ferguson Dead: Wife of Man Utd Legend Alex Ferguson Dies Aged 84

Lady Cathy Ferguson, the wife of former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, has died. The Ferguson family confirmed the news in a statement released to the PA news agency on Friday afternoon.
The couple had three sons including Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson, with Cathy raising the kids as Sir Alex made his name as the greatest manager in Premier League history. The former striker was a rising star of Scottish football when they first met, with Cathy a devout Catholic.
Cathy, who was by the side of Sir Alex after he suffered a brain haemorrhage back in 2018, was a regular visitor at Old Trafford including at the unveiling of his trophy back in 2012.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing yesterday of Lady Cathy Ferguson, survived by her husband, three sons, two sisters, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild,” the statement read.
“The family asks for privacy at this time.”
The couple had lived in Wilmslow, Cheshire since he took up the job at United in 1986, remaining there when he opted to retire in 2013.
A statement on behalf of the Ferguson family said: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing yesterday of Lady Cathy Ferguson, survived by her husband, three sons, two sisters, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family asks for privacy at this time.”
The pair were married for nearly 60 years before her death.
