In a recent development, the Lubbock Police Department has officially confirmed the demise of Christopher Carter, aged 40. Carter, who was a suspect in the tragic murder case of 18-year-old Lakaria Moore, was discovered deceased at a local motel situated in the 4100 block of 19th Street on Monday. The authorities have determined that Carter’s cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to police reports, authorities were first alerted to the presence of a man connected to the murder of Moore at a local motel on Monday morning.
“While surveilling, investigators attempted to have Carter exit the room he was in shortly before 1:40 p.m. At that time, a male exited the room, informing officers there was a deceased male inside,” Lubbock Police said in a press release.
On May 21, Moore was reported missing. According to court records, it has been reported that she was last seen departing a party in the early hours of the morning in the company of Carter, who is identified as her boyfriend. According to a court document, a neighbor residing in the 2400 block of East 5th Street reported to LPD officers on May 22 that they had heard gunshots originating from Carter’s residence the night before.
In a recent development, it has been revealed that authorities, armed with a search warrant, have discovered a range of items in Carter’s residence. These items include ammunition, shell casings, as well as bleach and Pine Sol, among other things. According to court documents, a dumpster behind Carter’s house yielded a discovery of a bloody blanket and towels by the police.
