The Davenport City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to transfer ownership of the Annie Wittenmyer Campus to developer Chris Ales for $1.
The developer wants to build housing on the property, turning the campus into 99 affordable housing units. Davenport Junior Theatre currently uses the campus and cottages for rehearsals, classrooms and costume storage.
Supporters of the theater are concerned about the timeline. City council members say the cost to maintain the building factored into the decision.
The council committed to work with Davenport Junior Theatre to find a new location.
Davenport Junior Theatre will host a meeting Saturday to talk about the next steps in the process. For more information, click here.
