The Tears of Contrition is a fantastic new Scout Rifle in Destiny 2 that is part of the new Haunted weapon set in Season 17. Tears of Contrition is a Kinetic Precision Frame weapon that has many great perk combinations despite only having six options in both the third and fourth columns. Precision Frame Scout Rifles are also perfect for new players for both PvE and PvP activities thanks to their easy-to-control recoil pattern.

While many players may be looking for a randomized God Roll, Tears of Contrition is actually one of the weapons players can craft in Destiny 2, Season 17. Like all of the weapons from the Haunted set, players can unlock the Tears of Contrition pattern once they’ve completed five Deepsight Resonance variations. Fortunately, the Deepsight variation of the Scout Rifle can be earned from the same sources as the standard, though it may be harder to obtain randomly.

By completing the Nightmare Containment Tier III and Sever activities aboard the Derelict Leviathan, players can randomly earn both Tears of Contrition variations. Additionally, Umbral Engrams can be focused to earn both variations of the Legendary Scout Rifle as well, provided players have the necessary upgrades at the Crown of Sorrow in the H.E.L.M. Lastly, players can get Bound Presence in Destiny 2 after using 500 Vestiges of Dread at the Nightmare Harvester following a Nightmare Containment Tier III completion, then use the Bound Presence at the end of the Sever mission to get Tears of Contrition.

The Best Perks For Tears of Contrition In Destiny 2: Season Of The Haunted

The barrel and magazine perk options for Tears of Contrition really help solidify this weapon as a great option for both PvP and PvE activities in Destiny 2. Arrowhead Brake and Fluted Barrel are the best options for an all-encompassing roll, whereas Chambered Compensator and Extended Barrel have more use in PvP, and Corkscrew Rifling favors a PvE variation. Likewise, the Tactical Mag is great for both activity types as well in Destiny 2, but PvP Guardians may prefer Accurized Rounds. PvE rolls for the Tears of Contrition could also make use of Appended Mag and Extended Mag. Additionally, Tears of Contrition has some of the best third and fourth perk column combinations of any weapon in Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted.

  • 1. Perpetual Motion/Explosive Payload – This perk combination is extremely well-rounded for both PvE and PvP activities.
  • 2. Triple Tap/Explosive Payload – Fantastic option for both PvE and PvP, though Triple Tap is more useful inside of PvE activities.
  • 3. Triple Tap/Fourth Time’s The Charm – Amazing PvE roll as both perks proc through the same kills.
  • 4. No Distractions/Explosive Payload – Arguably the best PvP roll since it reduces the user’s flinch while flinching targets.
  • 5. Triple Tap/Vorpal Weapon – Solid option for activities where Unstoppable Champions are present.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia.
