Did Nichelle Nichols appear in Deadpool? As she dies at age 89, her roles in Star Trek are looked at.

Nichelle Nichols, who was in Star Trek: The Original Series, died on July 30 at the age of 89. The late actress was best known for playing Lt. Nyota Uhura in the original Star Trek TV series and in the first six Star Trek movies.

Nichols was said to have died “of natural causes” on Saturday night, according to a Facebook post by her son Kyle Johnson. After news came out that she had died, the White House released a statement from President Joe Biden.

“Nichelle Nichols was a trailblazer on stage and screen who changed what was possible for Black Americans and women. Our country has lost her.”

The actress did break new ground when she played Lt. Uhura, because she was one of the first black women to play a powerful role in a live-action movie. NASA says that the character was also one of the first Black women to play a leading recurring role on US TV. In the meantime, NASA hired Nichols to be a public advocate and encourage women of color, especially Black women, to become astronauts.

The legacy of the late Nichelle Nichols: a look at her most famous movies

Since 1959, when she made her first movie, Nichelle Nichols has had a long and successful career in Hollywood. In the 1959 musical Porgy and Bess, she played a dancer in her first role, which did not have her name on it. In the 1964 TV movie Great Gettin’ Up Mornin’, she played Joanne Logan, which was her first creditable role. Nichols had a few small roles in TV shows until the middle of the 1960s. In 1966, she was cast as Uhura in the original Star Trek TV series. This was the role that made her famous. She played the role in 69 episodes over a three-year period.

Nichelle Nichols agreed in 1973 to be the voice of Uhura and other characters in Star Trek: The Animated Series. She played Nyota Uhura again in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, which came out six years later. She also played Uhura in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984), and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986). She also played the role again in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991).

Nichols agreed to voice Uhura in several video games after her last role in the sixth film of the original series. She played Nana Dawson in the NBC show Heroes, which aired later in 2007. The late actress’s last movie to come out was 12 to Midnight in 2021. Another film called Renegades: Ominara is set to come out soon.

There was a lot of confusion about whether or not Nichelle Nichols played Blind Al in the Deadpool movies.

Nichols has worked on more than 67 projects over the course of her career. Her role as Uhura earned her The Life Career Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films, USA. The actress also won the 1999 Millennium Award at Germany’s Golden Camera for her work in Star Trek, which came out in 1966.
