*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Ginny & Georgia season 2*

Since Ginny & Georgia arrived on Netflix in February 2021, the series has thrown up plenty of challenging moments for its two lead characters.

In the season 1 finale, we learned that Georgia was responsible for the death of her sleazy ex-husband, Kenny, while the newly released second season drags more of her troubling past into the spotlight, most notably her abusive relationship with her ex-boyfriend and Austin’s father, Gil.

After spending time in prison due to Georgia framing him for embezzlement, Gil unexpectedly reappears in season 2, bringing with him a whole new raft of problems for Georgia and her family to navigate.

But what happens to Georgia and does she die following Gil’s return in Ginny & Georgia season 2?

Gil’s arrival in Ginny & Georgia

We’ve always known that Georgia Miller’s past has been complicated and that she’s not always had the best experience when it comes to relationships, but season 2 really drives home how horrible a time she’s had.

Most of this is centered on her relationship with Austin’s father, Gil Timmins, who is first introduced in a series of flashbacks before he reappears in the present-day timeline.

When we first meet Gil, he seems perfectly nice and spoils a young Georgia and Ginny with takeout food and nice gifts in the flashbacks while many of Wellsbury’s residents take a liking to him after his arrival in the present-day – although Paul and Zion quickly develop suspicions of him.

Georgia is instantly anxious to see him as Gil also has a sinister side as we learn that he used to be controlling and abusive towards her which resulted in Georgia framing him for embezzlement in order to escape the relationship.

By the end of the season, it’s revealed that Gil arrived in Wellsbury in the hopes of blackmailing Georgia to help get his life back on track.

Does Georgia die in Ginny & Georgia season 2?

No, Georgia does not die by the end of Ginny & Georgia season 2.

However, Gil’s arrival in Wellsbury does put her in danger, especially once Georgia manages to hinder his plans to move into the fictional Massachusetts town.

After learning that Cynthia blocked his apartment application, Gil’s violent side comes out again in episode 9 as he storms into Georgia and her family’s home and starts pushing her around and yelling at her.

The terrifying scene culminates in Austin finding one of Georgia’s hidden guns and using it to shoot his own father in the shoulder in an effort to protect his mother.

Georgia is shaken by the ordeal but ensures that her children are safe and that the damage from the gunshot, both to Gil and the wall, is patched up by the time her fiancé Paul gets home.

Gil’s plans to blackmail Georgia look to be foiled completely when she confides in Paul about what has been going on and he threatens to throw the book at Gil in order to get him to leave Georgia alone for good.

A final twist

While Georgia survives Gil’s return in season 2, she ends the season in police custody after being arrested during her wedding in episode 10.

During the two-part episodes 8 and 9, we see Georgia kill Cynthia Fuller’s terminally ill husband, Tom, in the hopes of putting an end to their family’s suffering – although Austin was secretly watching as he had hidden in the room to play hide-and-seek.

When the private investigator Gabriel Cordova learns that Georgia was present when Tom died, he instantly suspects that she was involved which culminates in her shock arrest in the last scene of the season 2 finale.

How Gabriel got enough evidence to sanction Georgia’s arrest has yet to be revealed but we believe that Gil may have had part to play and may have tipped off Cordova, potentially if Austin – who has a tendency to blurt out compromising pieces of information – accidentally spilled the beans to him about what Georgia did.
