Dr Lionel Meadows Plane Crash Death, Well-Known Georgia Doctor Dies Following Plane Crash
Dr. Lionel Meadows passed away at the age of 54 during a plane crash in a storm on 7 May 2023 in the woods in Polk County near the Tennessee/Georgia border.
Authorities were called and located a wing of the plane on a public road about a mile from where the plane crash debris field was found. Dr. Lionel’s body was discovered in the cockpit of his plane on 8 May 2023.
Meadows’ officer posted a post on their page,
“Today, we mourn the tragic loss of our wonderful Dr. Lionel Meadows. Although the exact details are still unclear, Dr. Meadows’ small plane went down during a storm last night, May 7, 2023.”
“Dr. Meadows was a beloved friend, mentor, and inspiration to many of us. He was a brilliant surgeon and doctor who touched the lives of so many with his kindness and passion for delivering exceptional patient care. Dr. Meadows was known for praying with each of his patients before surgery, and we ask for your prayers now as we mourn his death.”

Dr. Lionel Meadows was a Clarkesville, Ga., physician. He was the owner and medical director at Meadows Surgical Arts in Commerce. He was an obstetrician who practiced for 10 years at the Women’s Wellness Center in Toccoa.
He was traveling alone after a weekend visiting his family. He graduated from Emory University in 1990 and studied at the Medical College of Georgia in 1994. He also studied at the Univesity of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1998.
He had been a member of the Georgia-Cumberland Academy 7th Day Adventist Church.
He was married to Kathryn Krueger Meadows. He was blessed with a daughter named Liesl Meadows and a son named Aspen Meadows.
He was bron to Martha Rainey Meadows (Mother). He had a sister named Crystal M. Tucker. His mother-in-law’s name is Phyllis Krueger.
