A two-vehicle crash in Butler County on Sunday claimed the lives of two persons, who were identified by a Wichita veterinary clinic.
Dr. Monica Moore, a veterinarian at Sisters-Herndon Veterinary Clinic, and her daughter were identified as the deceased victims, the clinic said on Facebook on Monday. The girl’s name was not immediately released.
The collision occurred on Sunday at approximately 4:45 p.m. at the southwest Augusta junction of SW 150th Street and SW Santa Fe Lake Road. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, an Acura RDX traveling south on Santa Fe Lake Road collided with a Chevy Suburban traveling west on SW 150th Road after the driver neglected to stop at the stop sign. The Acura rolled once and came to rest against a tree, while the Chevy came to rest in the ditch.
Moore of Douglass passed away at the scene, along with her daughter. The driver of the Chevy, an El Dorado woman in her 30s, was taken to a hospital in Wichita to receive treatment for her severe injuries.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have some very saddening news for our Sisters patients and families. Yesterday afternoon we were informed of a tragic car accident that involved our beloved Dr. Monica Moore and her daughter. Unfortunately with the severity of the accident both passed. We ask at this time for your patience and understanding while we navigate through these next few days. We will be closing Tuesday and Wednesday this week as we figure out how to move forward. We ask that you keep us in your prayers and thoughts as well as the Moore family. We will continue to update you as information arrives,” Sisters-Herndon Veterinary Clinic wrote in a Facebook post.
