Eliud graduated from Kaptel Secondary School in Nandi County, Kenya in 1999 but he did not run seriously or as a profession then. Eliud is broadly regarded as the best and greatest marathon runner and one of the most significant sportsmen in history.
Eliud won his 1st individual world championship title by winning the junior race at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2003 and also setting a world record in the junior category over 5000 meters on the track.
At the age of 18, Eliud became the senior category’s 5000 m world champion at the 2003 World Championships in Athletics with a championship record.
A 5 time World Championship 5000 meter finalist, Eliud took silver medals at the World Championships 2007, Summer Olympics 2008, and Commonwealth Games 2010.
