I've always been hopeless at names, and for a teacher, that was terribly awkward. And yes, it's getting worse as I get older (and I'm much older than you)
Having said that, my husband John had a form of dementia called Primary Progressive Aphasia, in which the language centre of the brain is the first to go. The first symptom I noticed was his inability to remember names of people, progressing to forgetting the names of everyday objects round the house.
I'm not saying this to frighten you, but you're obviously worried about it, and I think in your shoes I'd be asking for a test. It's probably nothing to worry about, and it might set your mind at rest.
I did the brain age test online, and came out with a brain age of 40, which isn't bad at 73! But I still can't remember names!
