In a sombre Facebook post, Charlotte Jolly, who shared a profound friendship with Gina Bryant, expressed her heartache, stating, “It is with profound sorrow that we share these words. The family is grappling with an unimaginable and heartbreaking loss stemming from the grim reality of domestic violence.”
The perpetrator behind this harrowing incident has been revealed as Justin Wendling, hailing from Bettendorf, Iowa.
What happened to Gina Nicole Bryant?
A University of Michigan-Flint student from Macomb County was identified by authorities in Illinois as the victim of a murder-suicide allegedly at the hands of an ex-boyfriend that was the result of domestic violence, police said Wednesday.
Gina Nicole Bryant, 25, of Macomb Township, was named by the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office. She had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we write this post,” Charlotte Jolly, Bryant’s best friend, wrote in a Facebook post. “The family has suffered an unspeakable and tragic loss due to domestic violence.”
Investigators identified the shooter as Justin Wendling, 26, of Holly, Bryant’s ex-boyfriend and a doctor in Flint. They say he abducted Bryant from her home and drove her to Illinois, where he fatally shot her, and later turned the gun on himself in Iowa.
