Giovanna Canonici Death News; Student at Barnard College, Columbia University, Giovanna Canonici Passes Away
Tragically, a beloved Barnard College, Columbia University, student has passed away. Giovanna Canonici, a sophomore at Columbia University in New York, died in what appears to have been a suicide after suffering from depression, a fatal mental condition.
Giovanna Canonici was a science student who desired to change the world, according to Columbia College Dean Josef Sorett, who made the announcement of the unexpected tragedy on Wednesday.
In order to pursue her “passion and curiosity” for astronomy, rocketry, and space science, Brazilian international student Canonici applied to Columbia as a science research fellow.
Additionally, she became a member of the Columbia Space Initiative, a group of students who are interested in aerospace science, engineering, and outreach.
She wished to advance humanity through science. “Giovanna’s passion for science and humanity manifested in her curiosity, kindness, and empathy,” her adviser said, adding that she was looking forward to connecting with and working with scientists throughout the world. Josef Dean Sorett.
