Facebook Pages don’t always work out. If you’ve got an old Facebook Page that you don’t want anyone to find, here’s how you can unpublish (hide) your Facebook Page for a while, or delete it permanently.
You can do this in two ways. You can unpublish your Facebook Page so that it doesn’t show up in search or on anyone’s news feed (but Page managers can still access it). If you’re sure you don’t want anything to do with a Page anymore, you can permanently remove your Facebook Page as well.
How to Hide or Delete a Facebook Page on Website
Even though most of the Facebook website has been updated to the new interface with dark mode, the Facebook Page settings are still in the Classic Facebook interface.
Open the Facebook page that you want to delete, and click the “Page Settings” button.
You’ll now see the Facebook Page settings. It defaults to the General section.
Here, if you simply want to hide your Facebook Page but you don’t want to delete the page (along with all the posts and data), you can choose to unpublish it.
From the top of the page, click the “Page Visibility” option.
Here, click the radio button next to “Page Unpublished” option, and then click the “Save Changes” button.
From the next screen, provide a reason for unpublishing your Facebook page, and click the “Next” button.
Now, finally, click the “Unpublish” button to hide your Facebook page.
You can go back to your page at any time and click the “Publish Page” button to unhide it in the future.
If you want to delete your Facebook page, click the “Remove Page” option from the General section in Page Settings.
Now, click the “Permanently Delete (Page Name)” button.
Facebook will ask you if you’re sure you want to do this. Here, click the “Delete” button.
Facebook will now tell you that the page has been deleted.
How to Hide or Delete a Facebook Page on App
You can unpublish or delete a Facebook Page from your iPhone or Android smartphone as well.
Open the Facebook page that you want to delete, and then tap the “Settings” icon from the top-right corner.
Here, go to the “General” section.
If you want to hide the page, go to the “Page Visibility” section, and just tap the “Unpublish” option. That’s it. You can then go back to your page, and you’ll see that it has been unpublished.
To delete the page, tap the “Permanently Delete (Page Name)” option from the “Remove Page” section.
From the next page, tap the “Delete Page?” button.
The Facebook app will tell you that the page has been deleted. Just tap the “OK” button to go back.
If you unpublished the page, you can come back at any time to publish it. Go to your Facebook page, scroll down, and tap the “Publish Page” button to unhide it.
If you’re done with Facebook, you can deactivate or delete your personal Facebook account as well.

Hide Facebook profile – hate it or love it, Facebook is the most popular way to connect and communicate with other people. There are many instances where people find their lost or forgotten friends, family members, etc. As good as it is, there will be times when you need to hide your Facebook profile so that you don’t expose too much to the public eyes.
Facebook has many privacy options to let you hide Facebook profile. Today, I’m going to show you two different methods to hide Facebook profile. The first method is to modify the privacy settings to make your profile less visible to the public and the second is to deactivate your Facebook account.
1. Modify Privacy Settings to Hide Facebook Profile
It’s great that Facebook has many privacy settings to protect your privacy. However, it can be a pain in the back to modify them. Here’s how to hide facebook profile by modifying the Facebook privacy settings.
1. Go to your Facebook account, click on the little down arrow appearing in the upper right corner and then select the option “Settings.”
2. In this page, select “Privacy” from the left panel.
Hide Facebook profile – Select privacy
3. Now, in the “Who can see my future posts” section, select “Only me” from the drop-down menu.
Hide Facebook profile – Select only me
4. After that, click on the link “Limit old posts” in the same section.
Hide Facebook profile – Click limit old posts link
5. Here, click on the button “Limit old posts.” This will hide all your old posts in Facebook from outsiders. Your friends in the Friends List can still see those old posts.
Note: if you don’t want your friends to see the old posts then you need manually go through those posts and set the status to “Only me” for each and every post.
Click limit old posts button
6. In the “Who can look me up” section, click on the “Do you want search engines outside of Facebook to link to your Profile” option and uncheck the checkbox “Allow search engines outside of Facebook to link to your Profile.” This makes sure that search engines don’t find your profile.
Disallow search engines from showing your page in search results
7. Now, navigate to “Timeline and tagging” in the left panel.
Select timeline and tagging
8. Here, change the settings to “Only me” under the sections “Who can add things to my Timeline” and “Who can see things on my Timeline.”
Hide Facebook Profile – Select only me in Timeline and tagging section
9. The last thing you have to do is modify your Profile page so that the details of your job, contact info, etc are not visible to the public. To do that, open the Facebook profile page, click on the tab “About” and individually change each and every setting to “Only me” or “Friends” depending on the options.
Hide Facebook Profile – Select only me in profile page
That’s it. With the above modifications, you’ve successfully hidden Facebook profile from outsiders or public. When you want to revert back, simply change the settings back to default and you are good to go.
2. Deactivate the Account to Hide Facebook Profile
If you are not going to use your Facebook account for a while or if you just want to go offline for an extended period of time, then the best way to hide Facebook profile is to deactivate it.
It is very easy to hide Facebook profile by deactivating your Facebook account.
1. To start off, open your Facebook account, click on the little down arrow appearing in the upper right corner and then select the option “Settings.”
Click settings
2. On the right panel, click on the option “Manage account.”
Hide Facebook profile – Click on manage accounts
3. Here, scroll down and click on the link “Deactivate your account” and follow the on-screen instructions.
Click deactivate your account
That’s all there is to do and it is that simple to hide Facebook profile in two different ways. The first method is useful if you want to actively use the Facebook account and the second is useful when you want to temporarily stay away from Facebook.
Most people have at some point posted something on social media that they later regretted.
But no matter your reason for wanting to remove a Facebook post — it’s inaccurate, embarrassing, unflattering, something you wouldn’t want an employer to see, or any other reason — you can permanently delete a post you’ve made on Facebook with just a tap or a click.
How to delete a Facebook post on the mobile app
1. Open the Facebook app.
2. Go to your timeline by tapping the hamburger menu (the three horizontal lines on the bottom right) and tap your name at the top.
3. Find the post you want to delete and tap the three dots on the upper right of the post.
4. Tap “Delete.” Facebook will then ask you to confirm that this is really what you want to do — tap “Delete Post” to confirm.
How to delete a Facebook post on your computer
1. Go to Facebook in your web browser.
2. Go to your timeline by clicking your name at the top left of the window, just underneath Facebook’s search box.
3. Find the post you want to delete and click the three dots on the upper right of the post.
4. Click “Move to Recycle bin.”
5. In the pop-up, click “Move” to confirm. All posts that are moved to your recycle bin will be deleted after 3o days. If you want the post deleted immediately, you need to also delete it from your recycle bin.
6. To access your recycle bin, click the downward-facing arrow in the top right corner of the Facebook window. In the dropdown, click “Settings & privacy,” then “Settings.”
7. In the menu on the left side of the main Settings page, click “Your Facebook information” and then click “Activity log.”
8. On the left side of the Avtivity log page, click “Recycle bin.”
9. Click the three-dot icon beside the post you want to fully delete and click “Delete” in the dropdown.
10. Then, in the pop-up, click “Delete” again to confirm. Your post is now immediately deleted from your timeline and from your recycle bin.
How to hide Facebook posts created by others
Of course, you can only delete posts you have created yourself — you don’t have the power to delete something that was posted to Facebook by someone else.
But if you don’t like a post that you’re tagged or mentioned in, you could ask the person who created it to edit or delete it. Alternatively, you have two other options:
- You can hide it from your timeline. This isn’t the same as deleting the post — and in fact, it may still appear in other people’s timelines — but you can keep it from showing up in your own. To do that, click or tap the three dots on the upper right of the post and choose “Hide from timeline.”
- If you’re tagged in the post, you can remove the tag. This will prevent it from appearing in your timeline and from searches that include posts with your tag. To do that, click or tap the three dots on the upper right of the post and choose “Remove tag.”
Trying to figure out how to hide without unfriending someone on Facebook? You can unfollow, snooze, or block annoying friends before turning to the nuclear option.
You may have lots of friends on Facebook, but perhaps a couple just rub you the wrong way. Maybe you don’t like their posts, or perhaps your real-life relationship has soured. Either way, you want to back off the Facebook friendship.
You have several options. You can hide someone’s posts or unfollow that person, which means you remain “friends” but no longer see their posts on your News Feed. You also have the ability to snooze someone’s posts for 30 days. More severe actions include blocking someone so that person can’t see your posts or communicate with you, or unfriending someone entirely, which means the Facebook connection is severed. In this case, you will no longer see each other’s posts or be able to communicate with one another until you reconcile and add each other back.
If you’re looking to take action against one of your Facebook friends, here is how to hide, snooze, unfollow, or unfriend someone.
Hide a Facebook Post
First, before you unfollow or unfriend someone, you do have the option of hiding individual posts created by one of your friends. That may be a useful initial step if the friend posts something you don’t like, or simply something you don’t want to see on your timeline. One side effect of doing this is that Facebook will try to hide similar posts in the future, which may not be something you want.
To hide a post, click the ellipsis ( ) next to the post. From the drop-down menu, click the link to Hide post.
Facebook then gives you a few options. You can click the Undo button to disable the hide action if you change your mind and still want to see the post. You can click the Snooze option to snooze this person for 30 days, in which case you won’t see any of their posts for that period of time. If the post is offensive or inappropriate in some way, you can report it to Facebook by selecting Report post.
Snooze a Facebook Friend
If you continue to see unwanted posts from someone, you can snooze that person for 30 days right off the bat. This action sends that person’s posts to a type of Facebook purgatory where their posts won’t show up in your Timeline for the next 30 days. To do this, click the ellipsis next to the post and select the option to Snooze for 30 days.
Again, Facebook presents some additional options. Click the Undo button to disable the snooze action if you change your mind. Click Report if you wish to report the post for being offensive or inappropriate.
Unfollow a Facebook Friend
Okay, let’s say you want to take it a step further and make sure you never see any posts from this person on your News Feed. That’s when you may want to unfollow the individual. Click the ellipsis next to any of the person’s posts, then click Unfollow.
You’ll remain friends with the person but won’t see any more of their posts. If you change your mind, click the Undo button. You can also report the post if necessary.
Report a Facebook Post
If a post is alarming or concerning in some way, you can take further action. In this case, click the ellipsis and select the option to “Give feedback on this post.”
At the next screen, select a category to describe the concerning post – options include Nudity, Violence, Harassment, Hate Speech, or Something Else. Then click Send to send your report to Facebook.
Manage Who You Follow
You can unfollow multiple people in one shot or re-follow someone you previously unfollowed. To do this, click the ellipsis next to News Feed in the left column and select Edit Preferences.
A pop-up menu appears with options for managing your News Feed. To unfollow multiple people, click the second option for Unfollow people and groups to hide their posts. Select the people, pages, or groups you no longer want to appear on your News Feed and click Done.
If you’re ready to see posts from people you unfollowed, click the option to Reconnect with people and groups you unfollowed. Select the people whose posts you want to reappear in your News Feed. Click Done.
Next, you can snooze the posts of multiple people in one shot and unsnooze those you previously snoozed. To do this, click the option to Manage your snooze settings. Select the people you want to snooze or unsnooze.
Blocking Someone on Facebook
Okay, let’s take it to the next level. You can block someone on Facebook, which means that person can no longer see your posts, tag you, invite you to events or groups, start a conversation with you, or add you as a friend. To do this and more, click the downward-facing arrow on the top-right of any Facebook page. From the drop-down menu, click the Settings command.
At the Settings screen, click Blocking on the left. At the Manage Blocking screen, type the name of the person you wish to block in the Block users field. Click the Block button. A pop-up window appears featuring people with that name. Choose the person you wish to block and click the Block button.
Un-Friend Someone on Facebook
Finally, you can break up with the person completely (at least on Facebook) by unfriending them. To do this, find the person’s name by searching for it in the search field at the top of the page. From the search results, hover over the Friends button. From the drop-down menu, click the Unfriend command. And the Facebook friendship is kaput.
The person doesn’t receive any notification that the friendship is over. But they may eventually catch on. If you change your mind, you can always re-friend the person.
If Facebook is just becoming too toxic altogether, meanwhile, you can always turn to the nuclear option and delete your account.
Sometimes, businesses and projects don’t work out or need to be shut down. Whatever the reason may be, your best bet might be to simply close it down. We’ll take you through the process and show you how to delete a Facebook page.
Deleting vs. unpublishing a Facebook page
Deleting a Facebook page gets rid of it for good. That’s a drastic measure, so you might want to consider unpublishing it instead. This process would hide the Facebook page from the public, making it only visible to those who manage it. It could be a great temporary solution if you think the Facebook page could be used again in the future.
How to unpublish a Facebook page
If you have decided to unpublish a Facebook page, here are the steps to do so.
How to unpublish a Facebook page on PC browser:
- Go to Facebook.
- If you haven’t, log into your account.
- Go to your Facebook page.
- Click the Page Settings gear icon in the bottom-left corner.
- Go to the General section.
- Select Page Visibility.
- Click Page unpublished.
- Hit Save Changes.
- Share your reason for unpublishing the Facebook page.
- Hit Next.
- Select Unpublish.
How to unpublish a Facebook page on Android app:
- Open the Android app.
- Tap on the 3-line options button on the top-right corner.
- Go to Pages.
- Select the page you want to unpublish.
- Hit the Settings cog button.
- Select General.
- Under Page Visibility, select Unpublish.
To publish your Facebook page again, simply follow the same steps but select Page published in step 7 instead.
Everyone deserves a fresh start, and Facebook has now made it much easier to prevent your past from coming back to haunt you.
Facebook has added an important new feature.
NurPhoto via Getty Images
On Tuesday, Facebook released a new Manage Activity tool designed to make it easier to hide or delete individual Facebook posts. The advantage of the new tool lies in its ability to process several posts at once and deal with them in bulk rather than having to select and manage them one-by-one.
The new feature, detailed in this recent Newsroom post, is accessed from your activity log. On selecting the Manage Activity option, you are taken to a list of your posts which you can then select for bulk archiving or deleting.
Deleted posts will remain on Facebook’s servers for 30 days, giving you some time to change your mind, unless you opt to purge them immediately.
Archived posts remain on Facebook, but visible only to you. In this way, you can preserve important memories without revealing potentially sensitive posts to a wider audience. You can restore an archived post at any time and it will become visible to the same audience as it was originally.

It’s now easier to manage all of your Facebook posts in one place.
To help you navigate your way through a potentially huge list of posts, Facebook has provided filters to narrow down the selection and find the relevant posts. You can narrow your search to a specified time period or single out interactions with particular individuals. Furthermore, you can restrict the scope of the list to ‘Text updates, check-ins, notes and more’, ‘Photos and Videos’ or ‘Posts From Other Apps’.
Be warned that some Facebook content can’t be managed with the new tool. Only posts you have created yourself are eligible, which means that if someone else has tagged you in one of their posts, you won’t be able to archive or delete it. In this case, the best option is still to untag yourself.
It’s also not currently possible to archive content from albums with shared ownership or individual photos within a regular album. Facebook stories are also omitted from the tool as they automatically archive themselves after 24 hours anyway.
Facebook’s new Manage Activity feature lets you archive or delete posts in bulk.
This bulk method of curating Facebook feeds will dramatically reduce the urge some users may feel to delete their profiles and start again, or worse for Facebook, leave the platform entirely.
At the moment, the feature is a bit of a blunt instrument. It would be convenient, for example, to use it to restrict selected posts to specific groups of friends or family members. But, for now, this is a big step in the right direction.
The Manage Activity feature will be made available first on mobile platforms with desktop browser support coming in future. If you’re eager to try the feature right now it’s already available on Facebook Lite ( Android, iOS) which you can download alongside the regular app.
Facebook can become a cesspool of negative, offensive, and depressing commentary when left to its own devices. Here’s how you can survive it.

Nearly everyone has a Facebook account, and people use it for all sorts of things: watching videos with the sound off, looking at your bestie’s vacation pics, or just talking to friends and family who live far away. But a lot of younger users tend to favor other social media platforms these days. Why? Because of the garbage that overwhelms the News Feed. As if the borked algorithm isn’t annoying enough to deal with, users also have to sift crappy comments. Luckily, you can start hiding comments on Facebook.
Rather than logging out or deleting the app entirely, there are quick and easy ways of cleaning up the comments section on Facebook.
Before we get into it, however, here’s a quick tutorial on the difference between hiding a comment, deleting a comment, and reporting a comment.
Hide, delete, or report?
Hiding comments on Facebook will simply make the comment disappear from your point of view—the person who posted it as well as any common friends you share with them will still be able to view it. You can hide a Facebook comment from specific people, like an ex or your parents. You can hide Facebook comments that have grammatical errors. Basically, when you don’t like a comment but aren’t sure if you want it gone forever, this is the solution.
Deleting the comment will remove it completely and forever, so be sure you really want it gone before choosing this option! You, the person who posted it, and the friends you have in common will no longer be able to see it. You can delete duplicate comments. You can delete comments that spoil TV shows, books, or movies. You can delete comments that blurt out your secrets without your consent. These are instances where hiding a comment option may not be enough.
Finally, reporting a comment is reserved for comments that are truly, irrevocably offensive. It subjects the comment to Facebook for further review and if it does violate Facebook’s standards for acceptable content, it will be deleted. (Here’s more information on reporting things on Facebook.)
Now that we’re clear on the terms, we can talk specifically about hiding a comment on Facebook.
Cleaning up Facebook comments via browser
Hiding comments on your personal Facebook timeline through your web browser is actually pretty straightforward. Click on “Comment” under the post in question to expand the reply section. When you find a comment you’d rather not see, hover your cursor to the right of it until you see the three dots. Clicking on the three dots will give you the option to either “Delete” or “Hide comment”.
You can always “unhide” a comment if you want it to show back up.
If you find that you would rather not read some of the Facebook comments that appear on other people’s posts, not to worry, you can also hide comments on your contacts’ posts. More importantly, you can also hide comments on content posted by Facebook pages you follow. (Goodbye, trolls!)
You can do it through your web browser by once again hovering your cursor to the right of the comment, tapping on the three dots, and clicking “Hide comment”.
Same rules apply as above: You’re the only one who remains oblivious to the hidden comment; everybody else can still see it. You can also unhide it whenever you want. The only thing that changes is you cannot delete the comment yourself. You can, however, report the comment to Facebook, as a last resort.
Hiding Facebook comments via the Facebook app
To get started, tap “Comment” on the post to show you all the comments posted in reaction to it. Long press the comment you want to hide to pull up the menu and tap “Hide comment.”
Once you do this, the comment will be replaced with a notice that says “This comment has been hidden” and will remain in the comment section of the post, but it will be grayed out. And just like in the web browser, you can also unhide it: Simply long-press the grayed-out message and choose “Unhide comment.”
If the comment you wish to hide is in the comment section of a Facebook page you follow or a friend’s post, you can follow the same procedure as above: Long press on the comment and choose “Hide comment.” You can unhide it if and when you want to see the comment again. Again, if the comment goes beyond the normal level of offensive, you can choose to report it.

New feature makes it easier to hide or delete old posts
Facebook this week announced a new tool that makes it easier to hide or delete posts you no longer want the world to see, or don’t want to be reminded of.
It has always been possible to scroll through your profile and delete individual posts, but the new tool, called Manage Activity, makes it easier to do this en masse.
Read More:
For example, you might want to hide posts from your college freshers’ party before applying for a new job, or remove a bunch of photos with an ex-partner tagged in them.
There are a couple of options here. The first lets you archive content, which hides it from everyone apart from you. The second puts content in the trash, where they remain for 30 days until the content is permanently deleted. Or you can manually delete posts immediately, if you so wish. What’s key here is how the content can be searched and filtered, making it easy to gather up then archive or delete masses of posts or photos at once.
“Whether you’re entering the job market after college or moving on from an old relationship, we know things change in people’s lives, and we want to make it easy for you to curate your presence on Facebook to more accurately reflect who you are today,” Facebook said.
How to use Manage Activity on Facebook
The Manage Activity feature is currently only available on the new Facebook Lite smartphone app, but will be coming to the regular app soon, and to the desktop in the future.
To access it on the Lite app, go to your profile page and tap on the Go To Activity Log button.
Here you will be shown a timeline of everything you have ever done on Facebook since you first created your profile. Every photo you added, every friend you make, every post written and even every time you clicked the Like button. It’s all here, in reverse chronological order.
Before Manage Activity was launched, you could search the activity log by year and category, then view and delete each individual action. But with Manage Activity enabled, you can filter this view of your Facebook life.
Tap on Manage Activity at the top of the page, then Your Posts. You can now click on Filter at the top of the screen and pick what type of content you want to archive or delete, such as photos and videos, posts from other apps, and status updates.
You can then tap on each piece of content and decide whether you want to archive it, so only you can see it, or put it in the trash, where it’ll be deleted after 30 days. Before those 30 days are up, items in the trash can be restored to where they were before.
The filter tool can also be used to find posts with specific people tagged in them, or from a specific date range, making it easier to manage your Facebook content in bulk.
