How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

I LOVE A GOOD SCENT.

But obviously it has to be a specific scent. Not just any old scent. It needs to be inviting, delicious & gives off one of the 5 sense.

If you’re like me, you’re very particular when it comes to a scent. After traveling to a lot of different places, I feel like I’ve found my 3 scents that I ALWAYS want my home to smell like. & this may sound weird, but I kinda like to ‘brand’ my house with a scent. When people walk into my home, I want them to smell my house scents, & if they ever smell them anywhere else, I want them to think of my home as being nice & inviting.

On Instagram Stories I was getting a lot of questions about the stuff in the background…obvs you guys know I love using my white ceramic oil diffuser on the reg ( always with tangerine, grapefruit & occasionally citrus essential oils ). But I also like to add another layer to the scent & that’s where these 3 ideas come in handy.

NOW, these are scents that you may not like, but they’re ones that I love & other people have complimented me on. I recommend that everyone treat their house scent like a perfume- go test a bunch & find what’s right for you.

Sidenote: you should know that during the holidays I switch it up to a very Christmassy vibe. During Thanksgiving & Christmas you can always find my homemade potpourri boiling on the stove. You can find this very holiday-esque how-to here.

3 SCENTS TO MAKE YOUR HOME SMELL DELICIOUS

This is probably the most basic bitch scent out of all 3 of these. I’m sure you’ve heard of it. It’s this wood that’s native to Mexico & means ‘Holy Wood.’

When you smell Palo Santo you can expect a kind of woodsy, smokey, citrusy, mint smell. the sacred wood has medicinal & therapeutic healing powers. & most importantly known to combat negative energy while cleansing the house. That’s why I like it. The main goal of this is to purify, which we love.

A lot of masseuses use it because of it’s therapeutic benefits. For me, I like the scent but it’s more about the benefits of the wood burning. I get organic ones in a big batch.

What I do is light the wood until the flame catches, then very delicately wave the stick around to help it go through my house, then blow it out & rest in on a little incense holder. Some people say this smells like a campfire- I would sort of agree, which brings up all the nostalgic feels, but it also smells kinda woodsy & it’s just overall yummy. It’s a very soothing aroma to let glide through your whole house.

Some benefits of Palo Santo are: helps with anxiety, depression, colds, inflammation & emotional pain.

♡ AMBER ROCKS

This was recommended to me by my friend Ingrid. Surprise surprise. She always has so many insane recommendations & this one doesn’t disappoint. When I went to her house in Monaco, the first thing I asked was “what is the smell in this home??” It smelled like a very amber fragrance that was sort of sandalwood with a hint of musk in it.

The rocks she uses are from Marrakech Morocco. This is perfect if you have kids because you don’t have to light the rocks, you just crack them into little pieces & display them. There’s no fire involved.

Amber has been known to enhance homes for a quarter of century. It’s very popular & makes the home feel super warm. They’re also this really pretty light pink kind of. Highly recommend these if you are going to see someone’s new house. They make a great housewarming gift with a nice bottle of rosé. The ones I have are from Simply Gangster Chic. They’re a fossilized plant resin & sustainably sourced.

Some benefits of amber are: helps with anxiety & depression, can ease pain, provides calmness during stressful situations & can promote emotional healing.

Out of all of these, I’m absolutely obsessed with Copal. Michael & I discovered it during our wedding at the One and Only Palmilla. They would burn this magical scent known to bring pureness into the home. It’s incredibly healing & smells INSANE. Basically, you light these little sticks for about 20 seconds, then carefully blow it out because you don’t want it to go everywhere, & leave it in a little charcoal bowl. You may have heard of it from Mexican churches or the Day of the Dead celebrations. It sort of has a smokey-pine scent.

When buying Copal you want to make sure you’re getting a Sacred Mexican Copal. So do your research. This is the one I like. You can also buy it in incense sticks. Out of all of the scents, this one is going to be the strongest. It’s fragrant, affordable, & everyone will ask about it the second they walk into your house.

Some benefits of Copal are: creates a calming, clear space & gets rid of negative energy.

Your turn. Would love to know what you guys are burning or enjoying in your home. Get as detailed as possible. Try one or all of these scent ideas & let me know what you think. You’ll be shocked how many compliments you’ll get. Again, this is a fun housewarming gift to give along with a bottle of wine.

How to Make Yourself Smell DeliciousCinnamon dough is as easy to make (and as fun play with!) as play dough, and the ornaments that you can make with cinnamon dough are both sturdy and sweet-smelling.

How to Make Yourself Smell DeliciousHere’s the recipe:

  • 1 cup cinnamon (Speaking of cinnamon…have you ever made these cinnamon macadamia nut truffles? NOM!)
  • 3-5 t sweet smelling spices of your choosing (I prefer cloves, nutmeg, allspice, and pumpkin pie spice)
  • up to 1 cup applesauce (I find that the amount of applesauce it takes to make the dough really depends on my spices each year, or perhaps the humidity–some years I’ve only used 1/2 c applesauce, and some years I’ve needed a full cup)

Add all ingredients to a single bowl, and combine by hand. Kids usually LOVE to goop around in squishy mixtures, so the good news is that you’ll rarely need to do this messy mixing yourself. I’ve been making cinnamon dough since my older daughter was two years old, and I have never had to actually touch this mixture with my own hands!

For whatever reason, however, this dough does occasionally require some futzing. If it’s crumbly or wants to crack as you’re kneading it, then it needs more applesauce. If it’s sticky, it needs more spice. Ideally, when fully mixed it should be quite pliable and smooth–it won’t have quite the elasticity and texture of homemade play dough, but it should certainly be similar.

You can model with this cinnamon dough, but it’s really fun to roll it out and press cookie cutters into it. We add whole cloves for decorations and detailing (I also use whole cloves in my homemade room scents), and use straws, toothpicks, or bamboo skewers to poke holes in the top for ornament hangers.

Bake the ornaments on an ungreased cookie sheet, in an oven set to its lowest setting, for two hours, then turn the oven off and leave the ornaments inside overnight. Don’t they make your house smell wonderful?

Okay, I *may* save this super-creepy gingerbread boy for next Halloween.

You can save these cinnamon dough ornaments from year to year, and if you store them in a small, airtight container then it will be years before their scent runs out (and when it does, simply place a few drops of essential oil on them for brand-new scent). My sneaky trick, however?

I compost them! Yes, I know that kid-made ornaments are supposed to be keepsakes, but it’s not as if I haven’t taken a million pictures of them, and frankly, I appreciate saving myself the trouble of packing and unpacking them every year.

So far, neither of my kids have noticed…so don’t YOU tell on me!

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

What should a vag taste like? How can I make my vagina taste better? I think there is no shame in asking such questions.

The scent and taste of the vagina is a real issue for many women out there. If your partner likes going down on you, any unpleasant vaginal taste can serious seriously damage your confidence and make you feel insecure about pleasing him. He will find a reason to avoid you whenever you want him to lick or put his tongue inside your pussy.

The science of Your Vagina- How Is It Supposed To Taste Like?

Women have unique bacteria in their vaginal wall which give different distinctive tastes. Ask any man who loves oral sex what a vag tastes like and you would get varied answers from fishy to sexy, bitter to salty.

In fact, the taste down there is as a result of a combination of factors such as the type of foods you consume, your body’s natural smell, the type of juices your vagina releases and even the type of soap you use.

How To Make My Vagina Taste Better

If you are wondering on how to achieve that fragrantly and delicious vagina taste, worry no more. We have highlighted several ways you can try to achieve your goal. Just read on to learn more.

1. Practice good personal hygiene

You should practice good personal hygiene habits if you want your vagina to taste good. Bathe regularly and make sure the public area is thoroughly cleaned at least twice a day. It is advisable you use special daily intimate wash with a neutral PH or gentle unscented soaps.

As stated earlier, a number of unwanted microorganisms, such as fungi and bacteria, growing around the vaginal area may cause a vagina to have a fishy taste. Washing the area with antibacterial soaps or over-the-counter antibiotic ointment will not only deal with the fishy taste but also the smell.

Whatever soap, ointment or body wash you are using, make sure it doesn’t contain fragrances or dyes that will clash with the natural smell of your body.

I think you should go to Bath and Body Work. Their shower gels smell amazing. Specially their signature smell, Twilight Woods. A couple more would be Cherry Blossom, Midnight Pomegranate, and Magnolia. Those are my favorite and smell really good. They also come in lotion. Some perfumes that smell amazing would be; Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture. If you get the roll one bottle it’s around. $15.00 and if you want the actual spray perfume it’s around. $30.00 maybe more. Another one is the Hollister (HCO) scent. It’s called SoCal. It’s in a squarish bottle and it smells really good. One more would be Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger. I don’t know how much it costs though. If you do want to spend a little more on perfumes then go with; Burberry Brit (plaid bottle), Prada, Vera Wang, and ect. The prices for these range from 50-90. They are worth it though.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Go find a patch of flowers. stop. drop. and roll. Nah really. just go test out different perfumes. Don’t test more than say 5 at a time because after a while your nose kinda goes into overload and you aren’t smelling them accurately anymore. Don’t pick strong smelling ones. those are just annoying to people around you. =p Light floral scents that don’t smell any stronger than a nice smelling shampoo are best imho. The point isn’t to be a walking perfume bomb people can smell a mile away.

If you want a scent that lasts all day, in my experience, you might have to spend a little bit of money. If you catch the Victoria Secret Semi Annual sale, you can get large bottles of their best selling fragrances for half off, so you’d be paying between 20-30$. My favorite scent is Rapture, a spicy scent, and I can tell you, a few spritzes of this will last you all day, esp if you spray it on your body before you put on your clothes. But like others have said, try a few out before you decide, but keep in mind, quality of product is important. Look for sales.

Another option would be a long last body lotion. I recommend Jergen’s body lotion, especially the tropical cocoa butter smelling ones, as they are thicker than your average lotion and stay on longer.

Overall, good personal hygiene is essential. If you’re a teenager, this can be especially important. Make sure that, even if you aren’t able to shower every day, you at least make sure the “less fresh” parts of yourself get washed, and that you’re using a nice smelling deodorant, and reapply it if you need to. Washing your hair can also leave you smelling not only clean, but pretty. Bath and Body Works semi annual sales are a good place to find nice smelling shampoos and conditioners, although I would caution you not to use them every day as they don’t seem the best formulas for cleaning.

Candles smelling of sweet desserts are nothing new, but these candles by Karuba’s Craft smell and look like the buttery soft cheesecake. While some look like mini round cheesecakes, others are just a slice — but all are dripping in a faux fruit topping that almost appears good enough to eat.

“I have always loved candles and have been fascinated with food shaped candles for quite a while now. I just wanted to make something that is different and uniquely mine,” Carlos tells In The Know. “To be honest, candle making is my personal therapy, as the process is very soothing.”

While she takes orders through her IG account, she also created an eBay shop. The candles sell for $15 each and ship anywhere in the U.S., as well as internationally.

Something exciting is on the horizon for those of us in this chilly neck of the woods. A time of beauty, of growth, of rebirth. That time is spring, and after a few warmer-day teasers last weekend, we are standing here with arms wide open, waiting to embrace this glorious season.

Now, we may not have the power to ask mother nature to bring spring a little quicker than she’s planning, but we totally have the power to put ourselves in that springtime mindset. If you can’t make it feel like springtime outside, you might as well create your own spring inside. The first step? Fill your home with the gorgeous aromas that we know will surround us once the ground gives way to beautiful flower buds and those once-frozen streams start flowing with ease. Here are 3 of my favorite ways to make my home smell like springtime.

1. Surround yourself with potted flowers

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Few things compare to the uplifting scent of fresh flowers. Fresh cut flowers are always a lovely addition to your home, but I prefer potted flowers, which last so much longer! Find the best-smelling potted flowers you can find, and place them strategically throughout your home. Set one pot atop the kitchen table, so it’ll be right at nose-level as you enjoy your breakfast each morning. Put another pot in the bathroom (if it can stand the conditions!) and let the steam from your shower carry the scent into adjacent rooms. Place a pot or two right next to your bed, so you’ll fall asleep to floral dreams, and wake up feeling like you slept in a bed full of wildflowers.

2. Light homemade incense

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Lighting homemade incense is a great way to fill up a room with the intoxicating aroma of your favorite herbs and flowers. Create a bunch using herbs like sage and rosemary, and add other plants like fresh lavender and rose petals, then tie together using natural cotton string. Hang to dry or let your bundle sit outside for a few days to a week, until it’s fully dried. Then it’s all ready to use!

*Make sure the plants you use are safe to burn, as some can produce harmful fumes.

3. Make an herbal & floral room spray

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Fill a spray bottle with distilled water, and pop in some plants like sage, rosemary, lemon balm, and lavender. Let sit for a few hours, then mist in the air to create a beautiful, fresh aroma in every room! This spray should stay fresh for at least a few days — store in the refrigerator for maximum freshness.

Accepting credit cards and providing delivery services are only two ways to remain in business. Take the work further by analyzing the reasons for success in the restaurant industry. The average person has hundreds of choices available, so think about what your competitors are doing and why your business should be equally successful. Review these tips to help you keep the door open for your restaurant.

Discounts and Promotions

Many customers actively look for ways to save money. They choose restaurants that provide discounts over those that do not provide any. On the restaurant website, offer promotions to get people interested in specials and new items on your menu. Host a regular schedule of events, such as car shows and live entertainment that attract both new and loyal customers.

Provide half or reduced portions to diners who are careful about their food intakes. For each popular food item, provide a reduced serving amount at a smaller price. This option appeals to people who are concerned about their weight and those who want to save money. Give them the buffet-style option of trying out different food items.

Customers choose restaurants that are convenient and easy to work with. Some people want home deliveries, while others want online ordering. Look for every way to increase convenience for your patrons in order to remain competitive with other restaurant owners. Consider using technologies that eliminate long lines. Some restaurants have kiosks that patrons use to order faster and easier.

Walk in Freezers and Coolers

Food spoils quickly in the restaurant industry, especially when you use coolers with faulty doors and parts. Keep your food fresh and provide enough room for workers to move around. For an expanding business, upgrade to a larger freezer or cooler with more storage space.

Upgrade to walk in freezers and coolers that provide the greatest amount of space. Browse a wide range of selections from online companies like Commercial Kitchens that include customizable features. Choose a specific size, temperature range and material to fit the look of your restaurant.

Cooking and serving food to random people seems like an easy profit. However, most businesses fail before the second year. People have more options than ever before, so it’s becoming harder to compete with other restaurants and stay on top. With the right amount of dedication, every restaurant owner can turn an idea into a real life success.

Fish is not only a dish for Chinese people, but also a good moral. For example, we have more than one year. Basically, there must be a fish on a rich table. I believe that people who like to eat fish will agree with one thing: steamed fish is beautiful, and boiled shrimp is fresh. So how to make a delicious steamed fish? Let’s take a look at it with Xiaobian

Six key tips for steamed fish!

Don’t pick big fish. It’s better to control the steamed fish within 1 Jin and 2 liang. The fish should be vigorous and fresh, and the steamed fish is the most beautiful. Before starting to steam, the fish must be cleaned, especially the black film inside the belly of the fish, which must be scraped clean to ensure that the steamed fish is not fishy; according to the shape of the fish, whether it is necessary to knife the fish body. The most suitable mature fish is the flat body fish, such as the bream, which can be steamed directly on the plate after the willow leaf flower knife is put on or the deep cut is made on the back of the fish. It can also be steamed directly without changing the knife (steamed open screen fish); for the fish with thick back meat, such as the bass, it can be cut along the back of the back with a knife in the belly of the fish. When steamed, the fish will lie down, and the thickness can be reduced, which is suitable for maturity (steamed bass); body The fish with larger shape, such as fat head fish, herring, grass carp, etc., should be steamed in two pieces or in sections (two-color fish head with chopped peppers).

Before the fish is steamed in the pot, the curing time should not be too long, 10 minutes is the best. Because salt can permeate and coagulate protein, too long storage time will make the meat hard and affect the taste.

Steam the fish slightly overhead. Steam fish plate with a thin layer of oil, ginger and scallion section interval spread in the center of the plate, and then put the fish, which is equivalent to a little overhead fish, which is conducive to the hot air circulation in the pot fish body evenly heated;

When steaming fish, it’s better to separate the fish juice and fish, and then pour them on. Because the sauce and ingredients are mixed too early, some chemical and physical reactions will occur in the process of high-temperature cooking, which will affect the delicate taste of fish meat; the prepared steamed fish juice can also not be steamed, but the steamed fish juice tried repeatedly by lalailai does not have some astringency in the sauce, making the mouth feel more delicious.

Steamed fish are all in one breath.

There are three taboos for steamed fish: first, put the fish in the water before it is boiled; second, open the cover halfway to let out the air; third, keep the pot warm for a long time after it is steamed.

The highest level of steamed fish is that the steamed fish is in the shape of ‘Garlic meat’, with the most delicious taste!

How to remove fishy smell?

There are two fishy lines on the fish. I don’t know if you know it. When you make fish, first remove the fishy lines, and the fish you make has no earthy smell.

Tips for removing fishy thread: after cleaning up the fish, draw a knife near the fish head 1-2cm, and you can see a small white spot at the incision, that is fishy thread. Locks of Love – How to Make Your Hair Smell Amazing All Day Long …How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

We pay so much attention to the looks of our locks that we sometimes forget about the smell of them. After all, most people don’t come close to us to smell our hair, anyway. However, you never know when a cutie will lean in to whisper to you. That means the more delicious your hair smells, the better. If you’ve never really thought about the odor of your hair, here are a few ways to make it smell amazing all day long:

BRUSH YOUR HAIR TO GET RID OF DIRT

Brushing your hair does more than keep it smooth and tangle-free. It also makes sure that there’s no dust or dead skin sticking to it. So the more you brush it, the better your chances are that it will smell great all day long.

PUT LAVENDER OIL OR JASMINE OIL ON YOUR HAIRBRUSHHow to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

There are specific types of oils that are healthy for your hair and will make it smell absolutely amazing.

The best types to use are lavender oil or #jasmine oil, which have delicious scents.

All you have to do is put a little on your hairbrush and then brush your hair with it.

If you’re worried about ruining your brush, then just use your hands instead.

INVEST IN A SCENTED HAIRSPRAY

If you hate the smell of your regular hairspray, head to the store to buy a new brand. There are different types that are actually scented. Find a smell that appeals to you, so that when you spray your hair into place, you’ll also be making yourself smell amazing. It kills two birds with one stone.

BUY SHAMPOO WITH A DELICIOUS SCENT

You have to wash your hair, no matter what, so you might as well use a great smelling shampoo and conditioner. If you do, then there will be a noticeable difference. Haven’t you ever stepped out of the shower and had a friend or #boyfriend comment on how amazing you smell? That’s all because of your shampoo!

USE LEMON JUICE IN YOUR HAIR

Lemon juice is healthy for your hair, so if you like the smell of it, you can add it to your hair. That way, you’ll have the scent on you all day long. How do you go about this? Just grab a lemon or two, juice it, and apply it to your gorgeous hair. How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

STAY AWAY FROM HEAT TO AVOID HAVING YOUR SCALP SWEAT

Try not to spend too much #time outdoors when it’s burning hot out. If you do, then you’re going to sweat Even though you’ll probably be more concerned with your underarms, it’s possible for your scalp to sweat as well, and you don’t want that to happen. You don’t need to spray your hair with sticky perfume in order to have it smell nice.

All you need to do is follow one or two of these tips.Do you have any additional advice for keeping your hair fresh?

How to Make Reishi Tea

Reishi is traditionally consumed as a tea. Its hard, woody fruiting body can be dried and preserved for a long time. It is typically cut into long strips or small squares, or ground into a powder for easy use.

Reishi’s taste is bitter but delightfully earthy. Regularly sipping on this tonic throughout the season promotes your body’s immune response.*

Wondering How To Make Reishi Tea Delicious? You’ll Need the Following:

  • 3-5 grams of dried Reishi mushroom in slices or chunks
  • 4-5 cups of filtered water
  • Optional: maple syrup, honey, or lemon, to taste
  1. Add your water to the pot and bring it to a boil.
  2. Add the mushroom pieces in and reduce the heat to simmer on a low heat. Let your concoction simmer for at least 30 minutes and up to 2 hours.
  3. Once the appropriate amount of time has passed, remove from heat, strain, and set aside. You can repeat the process with the strained pieces until the resulting extraction is no longer bitter or colored, which usually takes about three times.

At Mushroom Revival, we love sipping on a steaming cup of Reishi tea all winter long, for both mood and immune support.*

just go to the mall before school spray on a sample perfume

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

In school, or even in the street I’d walk by people (guy or girl) and I could smell them from like 10 feet away. I don’t know how they do it but they smell hella good. I take a bath everyday, and apply lotion but for some reason it doesn’t last (at least I don’t think) and I am wondering how people do it. I want to be able to smell good from a distant. Any tips?

After you take a shower and when your skin is still moist and warm apply some perfume or body mist behind your ears, wrists, armpits hahaha, and behind your knees. Make sure to gently blend them in. Go ahead and moisturize and then reapply. If you want, you can spritz your clothes so the smell stays on throughout the day. Make sure to always use a deodorant that is unscented!

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Shower with shampoo and conditioner that smells good

Use bodywash that is scented

Brush your teeth

Don’t straighten ur hair or stuff like that cuz it will make u smell burnt -.-

Use scented lotion

Use deodorant that is axe if guy or for a girl like really good

Use perfume again for guys use axe and girls

Use Paris Hilton it smells really good or whatever perfume u like u may not be able to smell ur self but to other people u mite smell really good

That’s easy. just layer your scents :3

Bathe in good smelling shower gel, then use a perfumed/scented lotion, put on body spray and last perfume. That should make your scent last longer if not all day 😀

Never fear having unexpected guests walk into a smelly living area again!

Here are a few simple DIYs to try – from unlit candles and stovetop potpourris to those sweet-smelling sachets you keep in your underwear drawer.

1. Tape dryer sheets to your air vents

Love the smell of Laundromats? Recreate it at home by taping a dryer sheet to any air vents. Air blowing through will distribute the scent throughout your home.

2. Deodorise shoes with teabags

Hate smelly shoes in your corridor, cupboards and under your bed? Place dry tea bags in the toes of your tennis shoes to nix any nasty odours and absorb excess moisture. Lavender, mint or apple-scented shoes, anyone?

3. Deal with musty tent odours

Insert dryer sheets inside empty luggage, camping gear (especially tents and sleeping bags!) and sports equipment before you stash them away in your basement, attic or garage. The sheets stop musty damp smells from permeating.

4. Vacuum bag air freshener

Soak a cotton ball in cologne and insert it into your vacuum cleaner bag. That way, as you vacuum, the scent will be slowly released into the room.

5. Make a stovetop potpourri

Lingering smells in your kitchen? Simmer water is a small saucepan, add one sliced lemon, a sprig of rosemary, a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract and about two inches of water. Bring to boil and reduce the heat, then continue to simmer on low, topping up with water as the water evaporates. You can use this over several days, adding more water when necessary.

6. Burn Le Papier d’Armerie

This scented paper is a staple in almost every French household. Simply tear away a sheet, fold accordion-style, and light one end before blowing. As the paper smoulders, it leaves an incredible floral and sandalwood scent that lasts for days.

7. Keep unlit candles in closets

Candles don’t have to be lit to work their magic. You can place your scented candles, unlit, in linen closets to have the fabrics absorb the scent.

8. Make your own drawer diffusers

Get small muslin bags and stuff them with your favourite dried herbs, flowers and spices, then place in your drawers to make your clothes smell lovely, naturally.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

9. Mix your own vodka room spray

Create your own room spray by mixing a cup of water with two tablespoons of vodka and 25 drops of essential oil. Try different combinations based on what room you’re spraying – lavender and vanilla for a relaxing bedroom, peppermint and rosemary to help to stay alert in your study, and cinnamon, clove and tea tree – with their natural antibacterial properties – for the bathroom and kitchen.

10. Don’t throw out your citrus rinds

Fill your hollowed-out lemon and orange halves with sea salt and leave them to absorb nasty smells in your fridge.

11. Make frozen garbage disposal pellets

Make ice cubes out of white vinegar and lemon and orange peels. Once they’re frozen, remove from tray and place in a zip-lock bag to keep in the freezer. To use, put the cube down the garbage disposal and run it. Not only will it freshen up – the ice actually helps to sharpen the blades.

12. Deodorise dingy carpet

Simply sprinkle a box of bicarb soda on your carpet or rug, leave it for 30 minutes, and then vacuum it up (along with the smells).

13. Grind coffee beans

Buying coffee beans and grinding them at home isn’t just great for your morning brew – it also makes your house smell wonderful. Try hanging clean socks or pantyhose filled with coffee grounds in your musty closet or that stale-smelling freezer – it works wonders, trust us.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

14. Deodorise your freezer with vanilla

After throwing out all the unidentified frozen foods in there, wipe down the sides with a cotton pad dampened with pure vanilla extract.

15. Cooking fish? Use preventative measures

When cooking fish, especially when frying, set a small bowl of white vinegar next to the stove to absorb and neutralise the smell.

I’m a bit of a spa junkie. I LOVE going to spas and make a point to visit one on almost every vacation we go on, especially if we’re going somewhere as a couple.

Just thinking about going to a spa makes me feel more relaxed. The massage. yessssss. The scents. yesssss. The robes. YESSSS.

I’ve always wanted to make my home smell like a spa

I just didn’t know where to begin.

Then a few years ago, I accompanied my husband on a work trip to Salt Lake City. It was a special treat because the kids were very little at the time, but we worked it out to go together.

I had the pleasure of visiting the luxurious spa at the Grand America hotel, and it was GLORIOUS. No kids, no schedule, nothing to do other than relax and get ready for dinner. Now that’s the life! 🙂

The minute I walked into the hotel spa, I was surrounded by this luxurious smell. I couldn’t put my finger on what it was exactly, but I knew I had to figure it out. I wanted it all for myself….

How I Made My House Smell Like a SPA!

You can imagine my excitement when I was escorted to the dressing room and left to get ready for my massage….and the cause of this amazing smell was sitting right there on a side table.

It was a bottle of this amazing scent: Archipelago Home Fragrance Diffuser

It’s a blend of lavender, cyclamen leaves, and cucumber, with just a hint of patchouli that is just H.E.A.V.E.N.L.Y!!

When I bent down to smell it, I could tell that it was the smell surrounding me. It was everywhere, like they were pumping it through the air vents. I took a picture of the bottle so I wouldn’t forget to buy one when I got home.

I looked online and found the exact scent for sale on Amazon. Now, let me warn you – this stuff is not cheap.

I’ve never paid so much for a reed diffuser before, but I splurged and got one. I placed it in my kitchen and immediately everyone who visited our home and stood nearby commented on how lovely our house smelled.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

It was working! But I knew one wasn’t enough. I had to have more. So I got another one. And then the scent started going through the downstairs level of our house. I can smell it when I’m walking around, and it reminds me of the Grand America hotel spa every time.

We are moving soon and I am planning on getting several more for the new house. I think one every few rooms should do the trick. It’s not cheap, but it’s oh so worth it. I can’t wait!

BTW – I tried to recreate this blend myself using essential oils and it was a huge fail. I don’t know what they do to the lavender and other ingredients to get it to smell like this, but it’s hard to do. Just something I thought you should know in case you had the same idea. lol

As soon as I figure out the perfect essential oils “spa blend,” you’ll be the first to know!

How Else Do You Get Your Home to Smell Like a Spa?

There are several more scents in this fragrance line. I love the one I have so much that I haven’t bothered trying any others, but I bet they’re just as lovely! Ok, not really, there’s no more perfect scent than the Lavande Archipelago blend. But I’m sure they’re decent. 🙂

If you can find room in your budget for a splurge item like this, I know you’ll be able to bring home the spa smell to your home as well! Be prepared for LOTS of compliments!

If you end up getting one (or more) for your house, let me know! If you’re a lavender lover like I am, you’ll love this particular one.

What’s The Best Way To Keep Mosquitoes From Biting?

Human skin is a cornucopia of fragrances.

The bacteria living on our skin emit more than 200 odor chemicals.

“Many of these molecules smell quite pleasant,” says biologist Jeff Riffell at the University of Washington. “They smell grassy or a little bit like mushrooms. Some human scents are the same ones found in flowers.”

Other chemicals — well — they aren’t so nice. “They’re pretty funky,” Riffell says, like an overripe Brie cheese or a musty basement.

But mosquitoes don’t care if we are stinky. They love human odors! Mosquitoes actually learn human scents and then seek them out, Riffell says.

In fact, it’s your unique mixture of odors that determines how many mosquito bites you get, Riffell says — although scientists don’t know exactly which combination is most alluring. Some people’s perfume is just irresistible to skeeters.

“Some people are super-attractors for mosquitoes,” Riffell says, “while other people aren’t attractive at all, and the mosquitoes will avoid them.”

Now Riffell says he has come up with a way to teach mosquitoes to hate your odor so they leave you alone.

“Swat them!” he exclaims. Just wave your hands and arms all around the buggers. You don’t even need to touch them!

Riffell and his team report that mosquitoes hate air vibrations. They make the critters feel uncomfortable.

When the vibrations are combined with a person’s unique odor, the mosquitoes start to associate this uncomfortable feeling with odor. And the critter then starts to avoid the odor, Riffell and his colleagues report Thursday in Current Biology.

“Mosquitoes can learn whether or not you are trying to swat them, and then they will pretty much avoid you thereafter for about 24 hours,” Riffell says. “If another person is in the room, they will go and try to bite them.” But a day later, they’ll forget what they learned.

So, in a way, swatting puts up a shield around you, making you invisible, kind of like the Romulan cloaking device in Star Trek.

Several researchers told me the results are so convincing that they’re going to start slapping at mosquitoes more.

“I certainly am,” says biologist Marten Edwards at Muhlenberg College. “And I’m going to feel OK if I miss because I know that I’ve taught the mosquito something important” — that if the critter comes near Edwards, she could get . BAM! . smashed.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Will you try one of these delicious-smelling projects for your holiday home?

The following is a guest post from regular contributor, Sharon at Mom of 6.

With less than six weeks until Christmas, things are about to get crazy around here! (And by “here” I mean “here, there, and everywhere!”) During the holiday season as we all attempt to juggle so many things, sometimes our homes aren’t as clean and organized as we would like them to be. And sometimes they don’t smell so…. fresh either. But there are some easy and quick fixes for this- ones that can get your house smelling delicious in no time- without much effort.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

1. A simmering pot of goodness

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Add an inch or two of water in a small sauce pot, a few drops each of both almond and vanilla extracts and two cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil and then lower the heat way down to a slight simmer. This will leave your house smelling delicious all day long! And it costs almost nothing! Just be sure to check it once in a while and add water so it doesn’t simmer itself dry.

2. Sliced citrus in a bowl

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

This is a great solution when someone calls to say they will be “dropping by in 5 minutes”. Just slice up an orange or a grapefruit and place the sections in a pretty bowl on your kitchen table. But be sure to dispose of the grapefruits and/or oranges at the end of the day (I pop them into our juicer), otherwise you will be dealing with fruit flies the next day!

3. A bowl of white vinegar

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

If you walk in our house via our side door, you have to pass through the kids mudroom space- which is filled with stinky soccer cleats, smelly sweatshirts and heaven knows what else! The quickest way to freshen this area is to fill a bowl with white vinegar and place the bowl up high on the shelf where guests aren’t likely to notice it. Vinegar quickly neutralizes any lingering odors and instantly makes everything more pleasant to the nose!

4. Dryer Sheets Hidden in Closets

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

What smells fresher than clean laundry? If your coat closet is smelling a little musty, and you plan to hang your guest coats in there when they arrive, simply stash a few dryer sheets on shelves or even inside of the pocket of a coat or two. They will immediately make the whole closet smell fresher! And by the way- these also work well in your car! Just keep a few dryer sheets under the seats and your car will smell fresh too.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

5. Scented candles

I know this one is kind of a no-brainer… the whole purpose of scented candles is to make a space smell yummy, right? My absolute favorite scent for the holidays is Yankee Candle’s Christmas Eve. I stock up when they are having their “Buy One Get One Free Sale” and use them throughout the holiday season. Last year in the midst of the chaos of packing and moving to a new house, the scent of these candles helped to keep me sane!

Speaking of the holidays…

Do you realize that it’s less than 6 weeks until Christmas? That means it is time to get organized!

Distilling essential oils is a long, expensive process that requires a lot of time and effort for a small amount of oil. Buying essential oils is also expensive, but there is a way you can get the therapeutic benefits of aromatic oils and vinegars quite cheaply at home.

Step 1 – Clean and Sterilize Jars

To begin, you will need a collection of clean, sterilized bottles and jars. You can recycle jam jars, and glass bottles, but you need to wash them thoroughly first in hot soapy water, then boil in a large saucepan for 20 minutes.

Step 2 – Choose Your Aroma

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

You will need at least one standard American cup of plant material. For your first attempts, use strongly aromatic plants like lavender, rose petals, or rosemary. These will give you an oil that can be put to many uses around the home.

You can use any strongly scented flower petals, and the range is as wide as the scented flowers in your garden. Try jasmine, frangipani, honeysuckle, marigold, or violets.

Step 3 – Choose an Oil

The oil you use should be related to the purpose you have in mind — you can use baby oil or almond oil for cosmetics, safflower or canola for general purposes, and olive oil for cooking.

Step 4 – Fill Your Container

Place the plant material in your jar or bottle. If you are using a bottle, you can push stems of lavender or rosemary into the bottle. Now pour the oil over the plant material, making sure the bottle or jar is full. As a rough rule of thumb, use two cups of oil to one cup of plant material. You don’t need to warm the oil before you pour it in the bottle or jar.

Step 5 – Let it Sit

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Now cap the bottle or jar tightly and place it in a warm spot. This could be a sunny place on the veranda or windowsill, in a warm cupboard (such as an airing cupboard), or next to the hot water heater. Leave the oil to infuse for a few days, or until the plant material begins to brown.

Take the cap off and sniff — if it is not strong enough for you, strain the liquid, fill the jar with fresh plant material, and pour the oil back over it. Leave it for another few days. Keep doing this until the mixture is as aromatic as you want. If the plant material used is very strong, such as a strongly scented rose or jasmine, you should get a good scent just changing the plant material once or twice.

Step 6 – Store and Use

When the oils are to your liking, strain thoroughly and put in a clean bottle. Keep your aromatic oil in a cool place, or add to recipes for lotions and creams. For example, if you want a rose scented cleansing cream, make up a batch of rose oil and add a tablespoon to a jar of plain sorbolene cream and whip it up. To make a wrinkle fighting night cream, add the contents of six Vitamin E oil capsules and whip them in as well.

For culinary use, put some sprigs of herbs, such as rosemary, thyme or basil, into a tall bottle, and pour over good quality cooking oil such as safflower or olive. You can also add garlic, chilies or whatever seasoning takes your fancy. Leave where the sun can warm the bottles for a couple of weeks.

You use the same method for making aromatic vinegar. Choose a good quality wine or apple cider vinegar and pour it over your herb sprigs. Leave it for a few days in a warm place and you will have a delicious addition to salad dressings.

You will save big by making aromatherapy oils and vinegars yourself. The added benefit is that they will be customized to your liking!

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Yes, you read that right. I’m going to talk about how to make LARD today. Lard seems to be a word that everyone dodges and shuns. Unlike butter, it seems that lard has been swept to a forgotten culinary wasteland. This is a huge injustice! Not only is pork fat one of the most spectacular flavor additions out there, it’s actually one of the world’s top 10 most nutritious foods . And no, I did not make that up…just ask the BBC .

Apparently it’s more unsaturated than lamb or beef fat, and it’s a good source of B vitamins and minerals. Plus, lard has been used to treat illness and discomfort in Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries.

Obviously, I don’t think we should all go around taking a spoonful of lard in the morning given it’s *ahem* caloric density, but very few home cooks consider it something practical, and probably fewer know how amazing it can be. That’s why we’re reclaiming our “tub of lard,” and I’m going to show you how to make lard at home!

Lard has long been an important ingredient in Asian cooking. Besides being used in everyday savory dishes like stir-fries and noodle soups, when it comes to Asian sweets like pancakes and pastries, lard is irreplaceable . We, the Woks of Life, have tried to replace lard in traditional recipes with butter in many of our recipes, but the flavor is just not the same. So we say no more of such substitutions! Knowing how to make lard will open doors to many more tasty recipes, and trust me when I say I will make good on that promise! (You’ll see a very special recipe involving lard in the coming days, in fact.)

Before we jump into the details of this lard recipe, a word of advice: be patient throughout the whole rendering process. Higher heat (when you see smoke) will burn the lard very quickly, and it will taste and look burned. Use medium heat for the duration of the process, and look for clear bubbles. When it’s done right, the color of the lard will be lightly golden in liquid form and creamy white after it has cooled and solidified. You’ll know it’s slightly burned when it looks anywhere from a light gray color to a rust color. It’s still okay to consume, but the flavor will be smokier, a little bit similar to bacon.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

This recipe makes two cups of lard––plenty to use in your favorite recipes. But in the interest of not wasting food, the family had a heated discussion about what to do with the cracklings––the crispy bits of porky fat left behind. Here are some suggestions we came up with:

  • Grind them up into coarse crumbs and use them like bacon bits
  • Sprinkle with salt and enjoy as a snack with an ice cold beer (they get very rich very quickly, so don’t go too crazy!)
  • Stir-fry them with vegetables––an option for when you can’t get your hands on other cuts of meat
  • Add them to soups for flavor

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

The world is your lard bar.

Ok, let’s talk about how to make lard in your home kitchen.

You’ll need a couple pounds of pork fat and some water.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Cut the pork fat into roughly 1-inch squares.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Add both the pork fat and ½ cup cold water to a cold thick-bottomed pot. We used our cast-iron skillet, but you can also use a Dutch oven. Place the skillet/pot over medium heat, uncovered.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

The water will cook off and the lard will render slowly.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

It’s important to keep the heat below the fat’s smoke point. When the heat level is right, you’ll see a lot of small bubbles, but no smoke or steam of any kind. Stir periodically to prevent sticking. And as always with hot grease, be very careful!

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

When the oil starts to pool, you can scoop it out and strain it into a clean, heat-proof jar or container.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

You can do this gradually as the lard builds up. The whole process will take about an hour. Once it’s done, the rendered pork fat will be a light golden color.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

Once the lard is cooled, cover and store it in the refrigerator. The fat will solidify and turn the loveliest creamy white color, and you’ll have plenty of lard to keep in the refrigerator for a few months.

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

As with all homemade sauces, condiments, etc., practice good sense and hygiene. Only dip clean utensils into your lard to preserve it! And keep it on the top shelf, which is the coldest part of your refrigerator.

Girls worry a lot about how their vaginas smell. But as a woman, you need to know that your vagina has to have good bacteria and a balanced pH to make it smell excellent and healthy. A bad smell from a vagina is usually a result of bacterial imbalances or even infections, which mean you need to see a gynecologist. A fresh smelling vagina is essential. It indicates that a woman has a healthy body; thereby improving her self-confidence and making her feel good. You wouldn’t feel confident in bed knowing your vagina has a strange smell. As a woman, you need to be aware of what your natural scent is. Different vaginas in different bodies will all produce their own unique scent. You need to be observant and keep track of what your vaginal fluid usually smells like, so you can easily spot any changes. A healthy vagina usually has a neutral scent. You should not disrupt its nature or your vagina will change in taste and smell. Below are some simple tips based on research that are quite easy to follow and will effectively help you maintain a natural smell in your vagina. These tips shouldn’t take you long to implement and, despite their simplicity, they can pack a punch!

1. Drink Enough Water To Make Your Vagina Smell Good

The standard for everyone is to drink eight glasses of water on a daily basis, but people have different metabolic rates and activity levels, so some may drink too much water while others might be lacking hydration. For your vagina to smell good, drink enough water, especially when you notice your pee looks pale yellow or clearer. Whenever we are dehydrated for not drinking enough water, our urine becomes more acidic and makes the vagina taste sour, something that will develop into a severe smell afterward. When we drink enough water, it helps us flush out toxins that can make our excretion organs including the vagina smell terrible. Drinking 500 ml(17 oz) of water daily can improve metabolism by up to 30% and drinking 2 liters(68 ounces) of water every day can improve your energy expenditure by 98 calories. So drinking enough water is not only beneficial in making your vagina smell good.

2. Shave The Vagina, Clean It With Water; Avoid Douching

Your man might have given you a sign that he is coming to hit it in a couple of minutes and you are worried if your vagina smells fine. Those minutes are enough for you to prepare that vagina. Go to the bathroom and wash your vagina with plenty of water. Rinse it a couple of times and put your fingers in the vagina to clean all the dirt and sweat in there. However, avoid vaginal douching. Douching is cleaning your vagina using water and a mixture of fluids, for instance, apple cider vinegar, which is not a right thing to do. You also need to shorten the hair around your vagina regularly. Hair can trap moisture which can then turn into sweat in a short time and become smelly. A sweaty vagina will not be pleasant. If your vagina smells like ammonia, vinegar or urine, it’s because of the sweaty bikini area.

Nothing beats slipping into a bed made up with fresh sheets or wrapping yourself in a towel that’s fresh from the laundry. No matter how fastidious your housekeeping may be, though, keeping that fresh-from-the-line scent once linens have been stored in a closet for a while is a challenge.

Add Some Scent

Laundry detergents have come a long way since the old days. Choices for detergents with scents run the gamut from lavender to mountain air and garden flowers. Choose your favorite scent from several different products. Much like layering on fragrance by applying body lotion before perfume, using detergent, fragrance crystals, softeners and dryer sheets in the same fragrance helps imbue linens with the aroma you love.

Let Linens Breathe

Storage space can be some of the most coveted real estate in your home, but don’t give in to over-packing linen closets. Overloading shelves in linen closets prevents linens from getting the benefits of air circulation and can result in a musty, stale smell. Give linens room to breathe and you’ll find they stay fresher, longer. Line linen shelves with scented paper to help freshen the air, or tuck dryer sheets between towels and sheet sets. Sachets and small bowls of potpourri also may be added to your linen shelves to freshen the air.

Dry as a Bone

Take extra care to make sure any linens are completely dry before you put them away. Just a small amount of moisture can bloom into a musty mess in the dark space in a closet. To prevent mildew smell, thoroughly dry towels and sheets. If you prefer to line dry your linens, give them a quick pop in the dryer before storing them away to ensure they’re completely dry. The dryer also gives you a chance to put in a fabric-softener sheet for extra fragrance.

Rotate Your Stock

Keep linens in rotation to make sure no one towel or sheet set spends too much time languishing in the closet. When putting away linens, store the freshly laundered ones in back of the existing supply. This way, you’re sure to use everything in the closet rather than just what’s on top of the pile. You may rotate by color to make it easier to keep track.

Ghee (also known as clarified butter) is delicious with a nutty aroma. It’s easy to make at home, perfect for those who are dairy-sensitive and cheaper than what you can buy in the store. Watch the tutorial video below!

How to Make Yourself Smell Delicious

I learned how to make ghee several years ago for my brother and a few friends who are dairy-sensitive. Up until then, I’d always bought it in the store. But it’s incredibly easy to make and great for those following a specific dairy-free diet like paleo or Whole30.

Why do I love ghee? It’s shelf stable and has a high smoke point. That means it’s a great cooking fat and you can fry with it. It also has a distinctly sweet and nutty flavor that’s just delicious in so many different recipes.

A jar of ghee is like liquid gold and even if you don’t have any dietary sensitivity to dairy, I think you’ll simply love cooking with it.

What is Ghee?

Ghee is similar to clarified butter, where all the milk solids are removed, but it’s cooked just a tad bit longer. Those extra couple of minutes allow the milk solids on the bottom of the pan to begin to brown, which gives ghee a slightly different, more nutty flavor profile to clarified butter.

Ghee is a traditional Indian food and has been enjoyed in the Middle East and Asia for thousands of years. It’s also frequently used in Ayurveda and other healing medicines.

Watch the Video to Learn How to Make Ghee

Once you make ghee at home, it’ll be hard to go back to store-bought. Because it’s just so darn easy. Watch how I make it in the video below!

Is Ghee Dairy-Free?

Sort of. I know that’s not a definitive response, but it depends on your level of sensitivity. And honestly, how well it’s been cooked. Yes, the milk solids are removed, but unless it’s been tested to be 100% casein free, I’d be remiss to claim it as dairy-free. Invariably some microscopic milk proteins may remain.

Now, in saying that, most folks who are dairy sensitive (to lactose and casein) find they don’t have any problems with ghee. But it’s something you’ll have to try for yourself. If you do have dairy sensitivities, I’d recommend straining the ghee through a coffee filter (or two) which has a tighter weave, rather than use a nut milk bag or cheesecloth.

The Benefits of Ghee

If you’ve ever burned butter on the stove before, you know that smoky frustration. And what you’ve actually done is burned the milk solids in butter. Ghee doesn’t have those, it’s just pure butterfat. This means it has a high smoke point (making it perfect for sautéing and frying) and its a stabilized cooking fat, similar to rendered bacon fat.

Ghee is also nutrient-dense and contains vitamins A, K2 and gut-healing butyric acid. The great thing about homemade ghee is that because you’re starting with high-quality ingredients, you get a high-quality end product.

What Happens if you Cook Ghee Too Long?

Well, you’ll end up with brown butter. That just means those milk solids on the bottom became really caramelized and the butter starts to smell like toffee or butterscotch. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just different.

The first time I made ghee I cooked it too long and thought I ruined it, but realized, “hmmm, this smells an awful lot like toffee.” Thankfully I didn’t toss it (I couldn’t bear to waste all that organic butter), so used it on veggies and cauliflower rice. Oh wow, it was delicious.

How to Make Ghee (3 Easy Steps)

Remember to start with the best ingredients possible by using unsalted, organic, grass-fed butter.

  1. Add about a pound to a small pot and cook on low heat. Once the butter is melted and it starts to simmer, you’ll notice the ghee separates into three layers.
  2. Foam forms on the top and it’ll sputter a bit, which is the water evaporating. Skim that off with a spoon (you’ll have to do this several times). As the ghee continues to cook, that foam turns into clear bubbles and the middle layer becomes translucent. You should also start to see the milk solid sludge sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  3. After 25-30 minutes, your ghee should be done. Turn off the heat and let it cool for a couple minutes, then strain it into a glass storage container. The ghee will become opaque and light yellow as it cools.

Watch my tutorial video above to see exactly how I make ghee. You can store the ghee at room temperature in a cupboard (away from direct light) for a few months. If you plan to keep it longer, it’s best to store in the refrigerator where it will last about a year.
