The best thing about Goa is how everything is available for a reasonable rate. Well, then why not make the most of it? So, here’s how you can manage a 3 day trip to Goa in Rs. 3500, all inclusive!

Let’s consider that you depart on Friday morning and take the return train on Sunday night.

Travel : There are a lot of options to reach Goa. It can be by train, plane, car etc. You can either take the Jan Shatabdi Express or LTT Karmali Special from Mumbai. While the former departs from Dadar at 5:25am, the latter departs LTT at 5:30 am. Apart from this fare of Jan Shatabdi Express is Rs. 270.

After reaching Goa : After you reached your destination that is Goa, you can hire a bike the next day and spend that evening/night by strolling on the beach. A gearless bike like Activa/Dio will cost around Rs. 300/day.

Total cost for renting a bike for 2 days in just Rs. 600

In order to return from Goa you can either opt for Matsyagandha Express, which leaves Goa at 19:15 hours (7:15 pm) or Mumbai Express, which leaves Madgaon at 21:50 hours (9:50 pm). The fare for the former is Rs. 415 and for the latter is Rs. 420.

Hotels : While enjoying your trip in Goa you guys can opt to stay at a hostel. Roadhouse Hostel, Red Door Hostel and The Hostel Crowd are among the few hostels available at Goa. Tariff per night (in a dormitory): Rs. 350 to Rs. 500

So last week I went on a trip to Goa along with 5 of best friends. So it was a really fun trip while spending just under 5000 per person.Goa trip on a budget under Rs 5000

Now before I start classifying all the expenses, I just wanna throw a disclaimer that .. it was my trip and will vary from person to person, depending upon your lifestyle and whom with you are going, cause it’s very cheaper if you go with your friends than family. I’ll also blog budget Goa trip with my family, it will be a bit more expensive. Now moving on since we are 5 friends, the bill split up and the cost per person comes down to 5000 per person. So let’s start the trip ……..

Before starting a trip one important thing is to PLAN ..

So Basicall y Goa is divided into 2 parts.

How to Plan a Trip to Goa

North Goa
South Goa

North Goa is sort of Happening places, you will see a lot of young crowds over there. It is all about Beaches, parties, and Drinking – the perfect place to go with friends. North Goa has all the popular beaches like Anjuna, Vagator, Baga beach Goa

South Goa or Old Goa, on the other hand, is better if you are with your Family. It’s a quiet and subtle place where you can chill around on beaches. The Crowd is also on the elder side. Mostly Churches. One day conducted tour will sufficient.

Now I’m assuming that you are going with a friend -Here is a link if you go with your family

So Perfect destination for you guys will be North Goa. North goa might be slightly more expensive than south, but the extra penny is totally worth it. The distance between north and south Goa is 40km.

When you are going also plays an important role in your expenses – if you go between December(especially During Christmas and New year time ) to January the prices will be 1.5times than normal for almost everything -hotel, rents, shopping etc.

EXPENSES

Now I am classifying my expenses into 4 major categories.

1.TRANSPORTATION – You can go by Flight, train, or Road to Goa. We chose to go by Train as I have said we were on a shoestring budget. And to make it, even more, cheaper we went through 3 Tier Non AC Train .. and honestly, that was quite an experience. It would say that carry your own bedsheets and Blanket as they are not provided in Non AC couches. It was so so cheap like one way is for 250ish so 2 way it was 500rs Obviously the Train Prices vary from where you are you going. So to round off we can take as 600 INR

2.ACCOMMODATION – It is one of the most expensive parts of any trip. Initially, we were looking at individual hotel rooms but we ended up settling on a villa which has a private pool in it. I’ll link that villa. So splitting up the bill it comes down to 2250 rs per person for 2 nights and 3 days. So total cost if we sum it up comes to 12000-13000rs.

3.TRANSPORTATION – So once you actually reach Goa, its must rent a scooty or a bike cause it is really Fun and gives you the vibe that you are actually in Goa 😂. And you can wander around here and there. There are a bunch of Palaces which rent out 2 wheelers. So we were 5 people so we rented 3 vehicles. One scooty rented 300 rs and 400rs with a patrol. So we rented for 2 days and the price comes up to 400per person

4.FOOD — The 4th expense is food, it’s a little bit tricky to know how much I spend on food. So for me per meal was no more than 200rs so I know this thing will vary. So on average, I’m taking it as 300per meal. Food in Goa is very very cheap. Drinking too😂. So after a bit of calculation, it comes down to 1500 per person. So what we did for breakfast is we packed a theplas, cookies, snacks from our home and had a little bit of Goan food. Food in Goa is cheap.

So adding up all my 4 expenses it adds up to

500+2250+1500+400=4650. I take 350 rs as miscellaneous expenses. Note that I didn’t do shopping, there is nothing for shopping in Goa, to be honest.

How to Plan a Trip to Goa

Summer is possibly the best time to plan a road trip with your family. And, there’s no better road trip to plan than one that takes you from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai to the tranquil shores of Goa. Of course, a road trip wouldn’t be complete without a few fun stops on the way. Notably, Tarkali and Vengurla in Sindhudurg are happening beaches with sumptuous seafood along the way. No matter what route you choose to take, you’ll be able to enjoy tranquil beaches, water sports, and delicious food at every stop. So, let’s start planning!

If you are thinking about making your way to Goa with your family, then you need to plan ahead, figure out the route, and make sure you plan for enough stops and traffic on the way. Goa is barely 600 kilometres away from Mumbai, so if you time things perfectly, you’ll be able to leave the city at 6 in the morning, and cross state lines in time to catch a relaxing sunset on the beach – definitely one of the top things to do in Goa. Depending on which route you take, the drive can last between 10 to 15 hours.

Route 1: NH4

Covering 590 kilometres, NH4 takes you from Mumbai to Goa via Pune, Satara, Kolhapur and Belgaum. Most road trippers prefer this route, as the highway is well-built, and it doesn’t wind up and down the ghats. On this road, you can finish the entire journey in 10.5 hours. However, if you do that, you’ll miss out on some great eateries and some fabulous sightseeing.

It’s a good idea to stop at either Satara or Kolhapur to taste some delicious Maharashtrian delicacies. Don’t forget to click a few pictures at the Rankala Lake, and then stretch your legs at Panhala Fort. The stops may add to your overall drive time, but the experiences are definitely worth it!

Route 2: NH66 (Previously, NH-17)

At just 577 kilometres, this road is shorter, but it winds around the ghats, and takes a minimum of 12 hours. If you’re an experienced driver, you should definitely try this route out, but we wouldn’t suggest risking it during the monsoons. This picturesque route touches the coast at various locations, offering families gorgeous views during their journey.

You can hit the brakes at Karnala Bird Sanctuary for a bit of bird spotting and give yourself a taste of what is to come at the Ganpatipule Beach. If you’re driving down in the summer, you can also add a stop at Ratnagiri, to savour the delicious mangoes.

Before you fill up that tank and head off on your Mumbai to Goa road trip, here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. Make sure you have Rs. 600 on you for the tolls.
2. Enjoy a good night’s sleep before you undertake the road trip.
3. Don’t forget some high-energy snacks to devour en route.

So I recently planned my trip to Goa for 5 days and here I am going to guide you on how to do it all by yourself.

#1st STEP -Plan Plan Plan!

You need to decide, when? and for how many days your trip will be.

#2nd STEP -Research

Research about the place online there are many websites like MakeMyTrip, Tripoto which informs you about different activities and places you can visit. The best method is to refer to travel Vlogs on You tube, they give a gist of different places in minutes.

North Goa is famous for its nightlife and beaches like Calangute, Candolim, Baga where you can have an adventure filled experience with your buddies. South Goa has beautiful old churches, museums, and colonial architecture.

If you are coming in big groups then you must try out cruise at Panjim which includes many Casinos, cruise party, and backwater tours as well.

Research Details For Any Trip Here-

Salim Ali bird century is eye soothing experience and if you have interest in photography or you just simply love clicking beautiful pictures this place is a must go. A boat trip to Grand Island or Chorao island is adventurous of all. The beach parties at Goa are totally for a crazy group of friends like you and me.

#3rd STEP- Make Your Itinerary

Plan your itinerary after you know what activities you are going to do and places you will visit. Google Maps helps you to plan your itinerary brilliantly. While jotting the places down you’ll also get the information of other nearby places of sightseeing nearby the location in your checklist,so you won’t miss on anything.

#4th STEP – Accommodation

(Staying up whole night on the beach would be fun but who doesn’t wish to relax on a comfy bed)

You should always book your hotel near the places in your checklist. As after having all the fun you can relax well for a fresh start.

#5th STEP -Travel

Travel is really expensive in Goa so the best option is to use public transport. In Goa public transport is safe and you can get all the information on google maps regarding the destination and bus timings. But if you want to travel comfortably there are bikes and cars are available on rent. Zoomcar is one I prefer the most as it is the most affordable and trustworthy option.

#6th STEP – Food

If you want to test your taste buds with authentic Goan food, you should try these homemade food corners also called locally as ‘ Bhojnalays’. The prices are also reasonable over there. You must have breakfast or plan a candlelight dinner at the beautiful Sea facing shacks, to have the most memorable experience.

I had this Veg. Thali at SANMAN restaurant in Ponda, Goa. It was very simple food but it had the taste of the Portuguese inspired cuisine. You should definitely try the seafood at local restaurants as Goa offers the authentic Portuguese inspired cuisine.

#7th STEP – Shopping

“A vacation is incomplete without some shopping” as per wise man.

The local markets at Mapusa or Panjim provide you with a variety of items like spices, clothes, dry fruits, footwear, etc. If you are a fashionista then Calangute flea market is a place where you would discover many trendy and cool outfits at reasonable rates.

What are your interests . and what exact days you are travelling ?? Presently its monsoon season out there and if you are going in monsoon season then north goa is a good option to stay for.

In Monsoon time you can go for spice plantation, Dudh sagar falls, visit old Goa, Churches and enjoy the music while having dinner in the evening. Lush greenery all over during monsoon.

we are a group of 15 guys planning a trip to goa. we have a budget of Rs.8000 for 4days. Please give some tips on where to stay and beach s to see.

How to Plan a Trip to Goa

You did not mention exactly when do you plan to have this trip. And are you saying Rs.8000 per head or collective money would be rs.8000. Mainly because in goa the accommodation prices fluctuate from season to season. Which means if you go to goa during the monsoons prices would be fairly cheap,if you visit in early october prices would be reasonable. If you visit goa during christmas the prices would blow your mind off. Also what would be your primary interests. I would suggest you can plan your 4 days by taking an accomadaaccommodationre close to panaji and by setting one day sight seeing to North Goa beach, one day for sight seeing in south goa , one day

in the hinterlands of Goa and probably one evening on a cruise ship in river mandovi.

Goa is a great state to visit for holidays. Ofcourse as usual you have to observe certain behavioural codes and follow certain rules to not attract any untoward incidents while you holiday there. Goa boasts beautiful, ancient temples and churches, lots of serene greenery, lots of beaches full of silvery sands and happy,holidaying tourists in all seasons. The atmosphere is great. About money matters : I do not know how many days you will be staying there, about meals, travel options, from where you will be starting etc. When so many things are not known, how could I comment on money matters? But 5000 seems about normal to me if you are near Mumbai / Pune etc. Caution : whenever you are near seashores, do not venture into seas. Enjoy the views from shores only. The seas are too volatile and rough there most of the times. Do not accept any eatables ( food / drinks) from anybody you don’t know. Be in the group only – do not venture on your own. Beware of anything you are not comfortable with. Happy holidays!

1. Reach to Panjim by Rail.

2. Take the hotel accomodation in Panjim.

3. Spend one full day for North side Tour.

4. Spend one full day for South side Tour.

5. Spend one full day for Beaches of Goa.

6. Any one evening of above 3 days go for Mandovi River Cruise.

7. and return by Rail to your destination.

You can book the sightseeing tour and river cruise after arriving in Panjim.

For hotel accomodation prefer GTDC’s Hotel in Panjim.

Goa is India’s smallest state by area. Goa is similar to a Southeast Asian city. When I first landed in Goa, I was very amazed to see such a huge crowd and the best part was that everybody was a tourist. Instead of booking a cab, I thought about using the local transport to reach my destination.

Goa, the state of beaches, babes, bikes, and night parties is often called “the Sin City of India”. Are you serious! How can you compare the smallest state of India with Sin City? There may be 2 reasons for it – One, they haven’t visited Sin City and the other is they don’t know anything else about Goa.

People go to Goa mainly for enjoyment which they cannot experience otherwise due to their busy life. So the holiday is not about relaxing, it’s about drinking like shit, behaving like a moron and many other reasons. People also call it “Bangkok of India”. Goa is a very hyped tourist destination and that too because of wrong reasons. It also hosts the World’s most hyped New Year Party: Sunburn. People spend hefty amount of money just to enjoy this party. I will suggest this crowd to go to the Full Moon Party held every year in Kho Phangan, Bangkok. It is the world’s largest New Year party.

I will tell you what Goa is all about and why it is so popular among domestic and international tourists.

Normally people visit Goa to celebrate Christmas and New Year. October to February is considered to be the best time to visit Goa. It is because of the weather, crowd and spices. Yes, believe me, Goa is famous for its spices. And it is the most famous among Russians. Ok, I will talk about it later.

According to me Goa is best during monsoons. It’s a must visit during late July till August end when monsoon is on peak. You will get a completely new picture of Goa. Its full green everywhere, less crowd and the best part riding in rain through country side is amazing.

Spices, are one of the reasons why Russians are attracted to Goa. You guys must be thinking how would I know all this?? I met an old Gujarati couple near Calangute area. They own a retail shop selling spices. They told that their main targeted customer are Russians. The sad part is the business is seasonal i.e. from Oct to April and for the rest of the months they don’t have any work but to sit idle and wait for the time to come.

The main cities of Goa are Panaji/Panjim, Vasco, Mapusa, Ponda etc. Basically people visit North Goa as it comprises of the main tourist destination like calangute, baga, anjuna, ashwem, Vagator etcc. All these are beaches. But if you really want a calm place then you can go to Palolem Beach in South Goa.

Goa lacks local transport. Buses are not that frequent. If you really want to enjoy the place you must rent a bike or a car. It will make your trip memorable.

Feni, the Goan local drink. Taste same as that of other aerated drink. You have to try the local food once, it’s really pathetic. But there are many options in food in Goa. You can eat Indian, Chinese, European food etc..

Travel

You can either take the Jan Shatabdi Express or LTT Karmali Special from Mumbai. While the former departs from Dadar at 5:25 am, the latter departs LTT at 5:30 am.

Fare for Jan Shatabdi Express: Rs. 270

Fare for LTT Karmali Special: Rs. 230

On reaching Goa, you can hire a bike the next day and spend that evening/night by strolling on the beach. A gearless bike like Activa/Dio will cost around Rs. 300/day.

Total cost for renting a bike for 2 days: Rs. 600

Fuel worth Rs. 200 will be sufficient for the entire trip!

Depending on what time you wish to depart, you can choose your return train from Goa. You can either opt for Matsyagandha Express, which leaves Goa at 19:15 hours (7:15 pm) or Mumbai Express, which leaves Madgaon at 21:50 hours (9:50 pm). The fare for the former is Rs. 415 and for the latter is Rs. 420.

If you want to save money on the return fare as well, you can opt for the Mao Adi Special (Madgaon Ahmedabad Junction), which departs from Goa at 21:00 hours (9:00 pm). The fare for this train (2S) is Rs. 240.

Total cost of traveling: Outward Journey (Rs. 230) + Commuting locally in Goa (Rs. 600) + Return Journey (Rs. 240) + Fuel Costs (Rs. 200)

Total = Rs. 1270

Accommodation

You can opt to stay at a hostel. Roadhouse Hostel, Red Door Hostel and The Hostel Crowd are among the few hostels available at Goa.

Tariff per night (in a dormitory): Rs. 350 to Rs. 500

Therefore, for 2 nights, the Total Tariff will be Rs. 700

Food and Drinks

Total amount spent till now, for travel and accommodation = Rs. 1970

On reaching Goa, you can spend Rs. 200 for dinner at a shack.

For the next day, for breakfast + lunch + dinner, you can spare Rs. 500.

For the 3 rd day in Goa, you will need money for breakfast and lunch, which can be managed in Rs. 300.

If you order lunch in the train while traveling to Goa and dinner too while returning to Mumbai, you will spend Rs. 150 approximately for both, outward as well as return journey. (Food served in train is pretty affordable.)

Total amount spent on food: Rs. 1150

Well, considering you will be in Goa, booze is available quite cheap. Itd be better if you buy your booze from a wine shop instead of ordering at a shack. A beer bottle will cost you approximately Rs. 80. If you drink 5 beers through your trip, you will end up spending Rs. 400 for booze. If not, then you can opt for rum, which will cost you Rs. 170 for a quarter. So, you can manage your booze in Rs. 350 approximately (unless you want to get wasted).

Total amount spent on booze: Rs. 350

Total amount spent on the trip: Rs. 3470

According to experts, NH4 is safe as the lanes are straight and fit for fast driving. With proper dividers and lane markings, this would be a comfortable ride.

However, this is expensive route as it has quite a few tolls along the way.

On the other hand, NH17 is narrow, crowded and one has to drive through the ghats. While there would too many trucks to limit your speed, the breathtaking view of the ghats would compensate that pain.

If you are driving a diesel car with better mileage, like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, you won’t have to stop anywhere for refuelling.

If you are on the NH4, you would get dhabas at Satara and Kolhapur. Here you would get all basic Indian food, right from fish curry to idli. On NH66, you can stop at Chiplun.

Goa is always a good idea but not when you have a 5-month-old infant. It was quite adventurous to plan a vacation with a 5-month-old but with effective planning, it turned out to be a memorable one. Here are few tips to be kept in mind while planning a visit to Goa or any beach location with infants:-

1. Always choose breastfeeding friendly dresses.

2. Carry all baby essentials in backpacks in place of fancy diaper bags. Backpacks are not only spacious and sturdy but also easy to carry. backpacks can be carried by everyone without hesitation unlike fancy diaper bags which look feminine.

3. Carry pram or stroller along. They are true lifesavers as all the flights these days allow parm right till the aircraft and give you back just after getting down from the aircraft. You can check in and board the flight with ease. Even if your baby does not sit in the pram, that would be used for keeping shopping bags or bottles.

4. Carry baby carrier as well, in the places like going to the beach where stroller does not move, you can carry the baby in a carrier. Baby also enjoys the freedom.

5. Always carry hot boiled water along to make formula even if the baby is exclusively breastfed.

6. Choose apartments with kitchens for staying instead of hotel rooms because, with the baby, they prove to be more convenient. if choosing hotels, check with them if they can give facilities like sterilising the bottles, extra bedding for the baby etc. Choose hotels which are closer to the beach.

7. Carry baby tube and baby sunscreen as babies enjoy a lot in pools along with you. BabyM enjoyed a lot and we took a lot of pictures.

8. Preferably, travek in groups so that one person can hold the baby while others can go for water sports or other activities.

9. Carry all possible medicines with you and dont forget to carry hing as it does wonders on a colicy baby. A happy baby is all you want on a vacation.

10. Carry stuff like – Extra baby clothes, diaper changing mats, medicines, formula, hot water, blanket.

11. babies get tired with all the travelling and roaming around so they sleep really well during the vacation. This gives ample time to parents to have fun.

12. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy. Babies are now part of our family and understand that vacations wont be like they used to be. Keep low expectations from vacations.

Stay in Goa: Book your stay 1-2 weeks before your trip. Who said spending on a good stay is not worth in Goa?Trust me if you are on a leisure trip ,you would need a place that aligns with your needs. Also make sure it is close to any of the beaches,so that you can hang around even till late night without having to spend too much on commute. Booking an apartment is the best you can do if you are a big gang. We stayed @ the Amore waves in Eternal Waves Calangute .

Arrival in the Leisure Land : Morning flights are a real pain to me and if it’s a connecting flight then you better be prepared. The drive is a pleasure:

An approximate distance of 600 kms was a breeze on the Bombay-Goa highway, with its minimal traffic and pleasant driving experience.

Not having a plan is sometimes the best thing:

We had no idea where we would stay, so we kept going as long as we could drive. When we were exhausted enough to crash, we checked into the first decent place we found. The place was cut off from the highway and somewhere deep into the fields. It seemed a little eerie at night, but we woke up to a beautiful orange building covered with creepers and flowers. The hotel was more like a tiny resort with a wheel on a rope for a swing, and bicycles to rent if you’re interested in riding through the fields. An entirely impromptu plan turned out to be an adventure we’ll probably end up taking to our graves!

You’ll be driving through so much beauty:

Most of us around Delhi are a little bored of the Delhi-Chandigarh and Delhi-Jaipur drives, but the Bombay-Goa is a refreshing change for most of us. In fact, the second leg of the drive is all the most interesting, as we pass through the narrow roads of the hilly area. On our return journey, we lost our way and ended up somewhere between two mountains, in a completely deserted area with no street lights, not a soul in sight and no signal on our phones. In the middle of nowhere, we suddenly came across a police barricade with a bunch of cops far from pleasant. While we had some goosebumps at the time, looking back it’s just another memory we talk excitedly about!

The best Vada Pao I’ve had in my life has been at a roadside stall on the highway, a little off Pune. I learnt he was from Agra and chose to sell his vada pao in Maharashtra because of his love for their culture. While I’m quite certain that Vada Pao was fried three times over, it was heaven to my taste buds! Another time we stopped to have some Misal Pav in the middle of nowhere- famished and starving, and it turned out far better than we expected from a dim-lit, vacant tea stall.

As we crossed the river Vaishishti, we stopped to admire the view, the wind and the sight. We stopped in the hills to enjoy the drizzle, got off to stretch our legs at the top of a curb in the mountain, and to enjoy the beautiful weather in Khandala. Goa has a pristine coastline like no other state in India. And the beaches, almost all of them make for pretty sunsets. Be it the rocky Anjuna beach, or the sandy Colva, the quaint Bogmalo or serene Palolem. They all have the most exotic views of sunset. And something unique to offer to every kind of traveller. Like Anjuna is famous for its weekly flea markets, best for shopaholics. Colva is known for beach sports, ideal for the adventurists. Palolem is a photographer’s delight with its mystic rocks and friendly dolphins. The yogis can seek their nirvana at Agonda. My most favourite is Bogmalo that has Joet’s bar and cafe famous for its karaoke nights. I have fond memories of chasing sunsets at all of them and sipping an evening cup of chai at local beach shacks. It’s my kind of bliss.

3) The clubbing scene has something for everyone
Goans are synonymous with dance and music, it’s in their DNA. If you haven’t yet hit the Silent Noise party at Palolem, well you’ve missed out one of the most innovative party concepts of tuning in to one’s favourite DJ live with headphones on and going noise free. Talk about partying with an environment conscience. Or Club Cubbana that’s an exquisite bungalow replete with swimming pool, gazebos and bar, converted into the most happening club. Joet’s cafe at Bogmalo has spunky live performances that one can enjoy with their family. The Latin lovers have plenty of salsa socials they can dance away the night at. There’s never a season or reason to party in Goa!

4) Goan desserts are to die for
I used to believe Goa’s best sweet dish is Bebinca. Until a friendly (extra friendly!) local pointed out to me a variety of desserts that were laid down at the lunch buffet. Doss, Pinaca, Dodol, Baath and Bolinha are all diverse desserts made from the staple coconut and jaggery. Goa can be a foodie’s paradise. I encourage you to explore the local bakeries that sell home made fresh desserts that you can pack for home. I invariably return with packs of bebinca and bolinhas to keep me satiated for the rest of the week!

5) Under rated shopping hub
I have collected some of my prettiest beach dresses and accessories from Goa. And never had to spend more than a thousand bucks for all of my shopping! Goa has plethora of shopping places, but the best ones are the road side stalls that are run by locals. You can find some good quality stuff on a shoe string budget. My best finds have been floral pure cotton dresses, beach slippers and shell jewellery.

6) Finest culinary experience
I happened to explore Sarah Todd’s Antares on my most recent visit to Goa. And it was one of the most innovative gourmet experience I ever had. Talk about cottage cheese with mango salsa! That Antares is located on a hilly vantage at northern most tip of Vagator was like a cherry on the cake as I immersed in a nearly poetic view of waves crashing against the black rocks of Vagator with gyrating music in the backdrop. Likewise you have Mediterranean cafes along the Anjuna cliff that offer palatable snacks at reasonable prices.

I can still count more reasons, but the biggest reason for me has to be the sense of connection I derive from Goa. The palms against the sea make for a soothing silhouette. I feel inspired to explore my inner selves and discover a newer perspective each time I travel here. The charm and romanticism never fades. On every Goa trip, I discover newer beaches, food, shops and people. Ah, that reminds me that Goans wear their hearts on sleeves. I have had a DJ recognize me from amongst the crowd even 3 years later like it were just yesterday we met! I am certain that Goa Trip will be on my bucket list post lockdown. How about you? Palolem is a photographer’s delight with its mystic rocks and friendly dolphins. The yogis can seek their nirvana at Agonda. My most favourite is Bogmalo that has Joet’s bar and cafe famous for its karaoke nights. I have fond memories of chasing sunsets at all of them and sipping an evening cup of chai at local beach shacks. It’s my kind of bliss.

3) The clubbing scene has something for everyone

Goans are synonymous with dance and music, it’s in their DNA. If you haven’t yet hit the Silent Noise party at Palolem, well you’ve missed out one of the most innovative party concepts of tuning in to one’s favourite DJ live with headphones on and going noise free. Talk about partying with an environment conscience. Or Club Cubbana that’s an exquisite bungalow replete with swimming pool, gazebos and bar, converted into the most happening club. Joet’s cafe at Bogmalo has spunky live performances that one can enjoy with their family. The Latin lovers have plenty of salsa socials they can dance away the night at. There’s never a season or reason to party in Goa!

4) Goan desserts are to die for

I used to believe Goa’s best sweet dish is Bebinca. Until a friendly (extra friendly!) local pointed out to me a variety of desserts that were laid down at the lunch buffet. Doss, Pinaca, Dodol, Baath and Bolinha are all diverse desserts made from the staple coconut and jaggery. Goa can be a foodie’s paradise. I encourage you to explore the local bakeries that sell home made fresh desserts that you can pack for home. I invariably return with packs of bebinca and bolinhas to keep me satiated for the rest of the week!

5) Under rated shopping hub

I have collected some of my prettiest beach dresses and accessories from Goa. And never had to spend more than a thousand bucks for all of my shopping! Goa has plethora of shopping places, but the best ones are the road side stalls that are run by locals. You can find some good quality stuff on a shoe string budget. My best finds have been floral pure cotton dresses, beach slippers and shell jewellery.

6) Finest culinary experience

I happened to explore Sarah Todd’s Antares on my most recent visit to Goa. And it was one of the most innovative gourmet experience I ever had. Talk about cottage cheese with mango salsa! That Antares is located on a hilly vantage at northern most tip of Vagator was like a cherry on the cake as I immersed in a nearly poetic view of waves crashing against the black rocks of Vagator with gyrating music in the backdrop. Likewise you have Mediterranean cafes along the Anjuna cliff that offer palatable snacks at reasonable prices.

There’s nothing like a fun-filled day when you’re challenged to spend your 24 hours at it best. Start your day with the right spirit and head towards the proper location, this helps you pep up for the rest of the day. A Mumbai to Goa road trip is probably one of the best road trips you can take. Moving out from the hustle of the financial capital and driving into a beach paradise is a much-needed transition. It takes about 12 hours to get here, which is a decent duration to cover a distance of 590 kilometres. Stop by in the outskirts to quench your thirst by sipping on some coconut water.

Route: Mumbai to Pune by the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Pune to Satara to Kolhapur to Belgaum (NH4), Belgaum to Goa.

2. Pune to Goa – A 423 kms Road Trip

Experience the dynamics of the long journey from Pune to Goa. The journey is promising with the beautiful road and scenery you traverse through along with some good and trusted company. Pune is closer to Goa than Bombay, so the duration to cover is also less. To cover the distance of 423 kilometres, you will take about 8 hours. Don’t forget to stop by the local eateries to gorge on some delicious Maharashtrian delicacies. The most suitable time to make your road trip from Pune to Goa would be between October- November.

Route: Pune – Satara – Kolhapur – Amboli – Baga via NH48

3. Bangalore to Goa – A 626 kms Road Trip

If you think taking a road trip to Goa from Bangalore is impossible, well it isn’t. The route bears one of the best scenery and sights, plus some great attractions to keep you entertained. Avoid going during monsoon because the courses experience a lot of traffic and other mishaps. You get a spectacle of the Surla Ghats via this route and the magnificent green fields where you can spot men and women irrigating. It is a 626 kilometres long route which you will hopefully cover in 12 hours. Don’t forget to stop at Sai Palace and Upadhya veg to eat some delicious meals.

Route: Tumkur- Chitradurga- Davangere- Hubli- Belgaum -Chorla Ghat- Panjim.

4. Hyderabad to Goa – A 652 kms Road Trip

Drive through the Western Ghats to Goa for some picturesque sights. Some fantastic marvels mark the course of this journey. The recommended time to take the road trip would be between November to February to experience the autumnal and winter winds. You will have to cover a distance of 652 kilometres. You will drive through NH 44 and 167, and you are approximated to take 14-15 hours. Long, but it will be fun when you get to view Gadwal fort, Unnar lake, Syntheri Rock, and Dudhsagar Falls. Stop at Nandi Upachar for a hearty South Indian breakfast or brunch at the highway.

How to Plan a Trip to Goa
So your bags are packed and you’re ready to go to Goa. But are you sure you’ve got everything? Here’s a checklist to get you ready for the sunshine state.

1. If you plan on spending time at the beach (and since you are going in summer, one would assume you are), don’t forget to carry sunscreen. In case you do forget though, there are several pharmacies and shops where you can purchase one.

2. Do you have your shades and a hat or cap? No? Never fear- Pick up a pair of sunglasses in jazzy colors from one of the little roadside stalls. Buy a dashing fedora or a great floppy straw hat. You’ll be spoiled for choice.

3. Carry clothes and footwear that are appropriate to both the climate and the activities you have planned. Goan roads and footpaths are not always smooth.

4. Bling is fun to wear, but limit the amount of gold you carry and wear to the bare minimum.

5. Don’t carry huge wads of cash. A debit or credit card would definitely be a safer bet.

7. If you do wish to sample the local varieties of liquor- feni and urrak- remember to limit the amount you drink. These two may taste smooth, but make no mistake- they are potent.
