How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

With 397 confirmed villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are plenty of villagers to choose from when inviting them to your island. Moving a villager in is fairly simple, but moving them out can be a little more tedious.

How to Invite New Villagers to Your Island

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

In previous Animal Crossing games, villagers would randomly move into your town with their own house and furniture. It’s a little different in New Horizons.

When you first arrive on your island, you will start with two villagers, and as you slowly progress through the game, the max number of villagers allowed on the island is 10 (including other player characters).

The Resident Representative chooses the plot of land for the two starting villagers. After that, Tom Nook will send you on a mission to place three homes and craft furniture for the new residents. All of this must be done before the new villager can move to your island.

After this task, inviting villagers will always require 10,000 Bells to place a plot of land for the new villager, and you’re on your own to invite new villagers to the island.

Here are two methods to invite villagers to your island.

Mystery Island

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Have you had a chance to use the Nook Miles Ticket? By using the Nook Miles Ticket (exchanged at the Nook Stop in Resident Services), the airport will drop you off at a randomly generated island that will (sometimes) have a villager who can be invited to live on your island.

You will be presented with the option to invite the villager to your island after talking to the villager twice. By talking to them, you can also discourage them from moving to your island.

If you decide to invite a villager to your island before Tom Nook assigns you with the task to place the three homes, a villager you invite from a Mystery Island will be included in his list. If you invite a villager and you haven’t placed a plot of land on your island, they will move in once a new plot of land is placed, or if a villager moves out.

The Nook Miles Ticket is 2,000 Bells, so if you’re planning on inviting a specific villager, this could take some time.

The Campsite

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

After constructing the three homes and after the Resident Services building has been upgraded, Tom Nook will assign you the task of building and placing a campsite on your island.

This campsite will spawn a new villager at random, so be sure to check the campsite every day. By choosing to not talk to the villager in the campsite, they will not move to your island. Instead, a new villager will appear in a few days.

With that said, your very first visitor at the campsite will move to your island. Even if you don’t talk to them, you will have to eventually because no other villager will appear at the campsite until you’ve invited the first one to your island. By talking to the villager twice, you’ll have no choice but to invite them to your island, there isn’t a “no” option.

How to Remove a Villager From Your Island

Whether you’ve had enough of their personality or for some other reason, you can encourage a villager on your island to move out.

Encouraging a villager to move out of your island can be very time consuming and it requires a lot of patience.

Choose to Ignore Them

If you decide you really don’t like a current villager on your island, don’t talk to them. It may be tempting to receive the Nook Miles award for talking to your villagers every day, but by choosing to completely ignore the villager, the chances of them becoming sad and leaving your island will greatly increase.

When ignoring the villager, check in on them every once in a while to see if a cloud appears over their head. When this appears, there’s a chance by talking to them that they will ask if they should leave the island. If you encourage them to leave, they will move out.

If you talk to the villager and the option doesn’t show to ask them to move out, just give them a few whacks with the bug net.

Report The Villager to Isabelle

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Think of Isabelle as the Human Resources department of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You can change the tune and the flag by talking to Isabelle, but they can also help your cause.

If you complain about the villager enough, you can encourage the villager to move out of your island. You can also force them to change clothes and their catchphrase by reporting them to Isabelle.

This ACNH how to get more villagers guide explains how you can get more residents onto your island. In short you can use Mystery Island Tours, Amiibo and Amiibo cards, or just plain chance.

How to Get More Villagers

As you develop the island, more villagers will want to make their home there. But you get a say in who moves in and where they live. If you want a villager to move in, pick a spot for a future home to be built.

First thing to note, as you naturally progress through unlocking new features on the island, Tom Nook will eventually have you build and help furnish three houses for incoming villagers. Once you’ve built and placed all the furniture for once house and check in with Tom Nook, you’ll see a “sold” sign appear on the lot with the name of the incoming villager.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

This may seem randomized, but you do have a chance at reserving a spot for a specific villager. Use the Nook Miles Tickets to fly to Mystery Islands, and if you see a random villager camping out that you like, tell them to visit your island next – and there’s a big chance they’ll be the ones reserving a spot in the furnished houses.

However, once these spots are taken, you won’t be able to get new villagers for a little bit longer. Once Resident Services has been upgraded to a building, talk to Tom Nook again about more plans for developing your island, and he’ll have to look into crafting a Campground.

With the Campground, a random villager can come visit your town – and Isabelle will announce if there’s currently anyone occupying the camp site. Unfortunately, the villager that shows up the day after the campground is built will join your town no matter what, so hopefully you like them.

Once that’s done, you’ll get two additional ways to get villagers to come to your town: Amiibo, and reserving lots.

Tom Nook and Isabelle will unlock amiibo functionality on the resident services terminal, allowing you to essentially summon any applicable villager from an amiibo card to appear immediately at your campground. By doing this, you can then talk to them, and try to convince them stay. This may involve building them several DIY souvenirs, and may take a few repeat visits over 3 days at the most.

Once they’re sold on the idea, they’ll need a place to stay – which is where reserving lots come in. By talking to Tom Nook about the infrastructure of your island, you can put down a plot of land for 10,000 bells where interested parties can reserve a home to move into. If you’ve convinced a camper via amiibo cards to come, they’ll need one of these lots to move into – but the lots can also attract the attention of random villagers to come move in.

Because of this, you may not want to build a plot if you’re trying to get a specific villager to come – until you know they’re ready, otherwise a day you spend waiting to try convincing them may be all it takes for some other villager to move in. You can have up to 10 villagers in your town at once, and having a better looking town will help raise your villager count faster if looking for random people to come, so be sure to decorate your island!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers much of what the series is known for: expanding and decorating your house, outdoor activities, and a cast of colorful characters. But the new title features a different way on how you meet those colorful characters. Here’s how to get more villagers to live on your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Get More Villagers to Live on Your Island

In previous Animal Crossing games, your town would grow in population somewhat randomly. One day, a house would appear suddenly and your town would have a new visitor.

New Horizons handles growing your town with more active tasks, such as players needing to find the potential villagers and recruit them.

Talking to Villagers on Other Islands

One way to recruit villagers is by seeking them out on other islands.

Early on in the game, Tom Nook gives you a free Nook Miles Ticket which allows you to visit other islands to gather different resources and wildlife. These islands can also contain villagers that can be recruited by simply talking to them. These loners will pine to you about a place they can call home themselves, and you can choose whether they come with you or not.

They don’t immediately come with you though. Back on your island, Tom Nook will hand a building kit so you can plot out where this new villager will live.

Once you select a spot, you then have to furnish the house with several pieces of furniture, that can be crafted, before the villager comes to make it a home. The full list of items required can be found on the numbered box outside the building construction area.

After you’ve used your free Nook Miles Ticket, you’ll then have the option to buy more for 2,000 Nook Miles each from the Terminal in Resident Services.

Using the Campsite

Give it about a week or so, and eventually Tom Nook will ask for your help setting up a campsite on your island. You’ll be given the tent kit that then needs to be placed somewhere on your island. When you do, you’ll then need to wait a day for it to be built.

From then on, you’ll find random villagers come and stay at your campsite. Isabelle will mention whether or not a villager is staying at the campsite during your morning briefing.

Simply go and speak to the villager and they’ll talk about how much they like your island. Tell them to move, and then follow the steps to ensure their house is set up. By the next day, you’ll have a new villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Getting Specific Villagers to Move to Your Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

If you’re wanting a specific animal to move to your island, you’ll need to have either their amiibo figure, or their amiibo card.

When you do, you’ll want to use the amiibo icon option on the terminal in resident services. Place the amiibo figure or card of the villager you want against your Nintendo Switch until it registers.

You’ll now be able to go and speak to that specific villager at your campsite. Ask them to move in, get their house plot sorted out, and wait a day.

Time needed: 1 hour.

In short, here’s how to get more villagers to live on your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons:

Use a Nook Miles Ticket at your island’s airport to travel to a different, smaller island.

Can be purchased at the Nook Stop machine inside Resident Services for 2,000 Nook Miles, though a free ticket is given away at the start of the game.

Convince the potential villager to come back to your island.

Talk to Tom Nook and he will give you a building kit.

Select where the new villager will live on your island.

Check the numbered box at the construction site for a list of furniture.

Craft/buy the necessary furniture and place in exterior or interior of the construction site according the numbered box.

Wait for new villager to move in officially.

Alternatively, use the campsite and amiibo/ amiibo cards to get more villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have hundreds of villagers to choose from when it’s time to start recruiting neighbors for your island. The current cast includes almost 400 old friends from the history of the franchise, but there are eight newcomers to the Animal Crossing world who have become particularly desirable. Here’s what you need to know about the new villagers in New Horizons.

Much like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the gang’s all here in New Horizons. There are 391 unique characters in the general pool of villagers, most of whom made their debut years or decades ago in earlier Animal Crossing games. There are eight exceptions: Audie, Cyd, Dom, Judy, Megan, Raymond, Reneigh, and Sherb.

The eight newcomers are either brand new for New Horizons, or are making their first appearance on a console entry in the series after debuting in the mobile game Pocket Camp. Since none of them have been around for long enough to get amiibos, you can’t jump the queue on recruiting them as you can with other villagers. You just have to keep cycling through visitors at your Campsite or visiting Mystery Islands until you luck out and find a newbie. As a result, having one of the newcomers as a villager on your island has become a bit of a status symbol among New Horizons players.

Raymond is the new villager who’s getting all the hype right now, because… well, just look at him. Every cat person in the world would be thrilled to get a dapper business cat as a permanent neighbor on their island, even if he is smug.

Audie is also noteworthy as she’s apparently named after “Grandma Audrey,” the star of a viral video from 2019 who had well over 3,500 hours sunk into Animal Crossing: New Leaf. As of last month, though, Audrey’s moved on to New Horizons:

The relative rarity of the new villagers has actually led to a bizarre sort of “villager trafficking” operation online via sites like Nookazon. Typically, a player who’s found a new villager–most typically Raymond–will bring them to their islands, then annoy them until they want to leave. Enter a second player, who will bribe the first with Bells or Nook Miles in exchange for being able to visit the first player’s island and encourage the new villager to move to their own.

It’s a little sketchy, particularly since it’s largely a trust exercise; some villagers like Raymond can command prices in Bells that are well in excess of what a single New Horizons player can actually carry on them at once, so you have to make multiple trips to a seller’s island in order to pay them off. The good news is that if you do luck into a rare or desirable villager, you may have a seven-digit Bell payday waiting on your island. The bad news is that to get that check, you’ll end up interfacing with the true obsessive fringe of the New Horizons community.

Speaking of the obsessive fringe, we’ve put a lot of hours into New Horizons ourselves, and have the massive game hub to match. Check out some of our other tips, tricks, and articles:

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players seem to all be on the hunt for Raymond, but if you ask me, they’re sleeping on Cyd. A punk-rock elephant who despises peppy people? It’s like Cyd was made for me. Come talk with me about our mutual musical elephant bro via our official Twitter, @PrimaGames.

In Animal Crossing, you can have a maximum of 10 villagers on your island. It is natural that you might need to later evict some of these villagers in Animal Crossing if they are not up to your standards. Luckily, even in the kid-friendly world of Animal Crossing, there is a dark side, where you bully your townsman out of the village. In this guide we will show you How to Evict Villagers in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

How to Evict Villagers in Animal Crossing New Horizons

The conditions which must be met before you can prompt and talk a villager into moving out include the following:

  • Have at least 6 villagers
  • You can ask a villager to move out in Animal Crossing only 5 days after asking another one before
  • 15 days must have passed since another villager had moved out( Campsite exemption)
  • 7 days must have passed since another villager moved in

The prompt to talk to the villagers in ACNH if they want to move will appear with a bubble question mark hovering over them. The bubble doesn’t always mean that they really want to move out.

They might have something else on their mind; therefore, the player shouldn’t be expecting much unless you understand the mechanics explained below.

Villagers will absolutely not be thinking of moving out if only their house is being moved or their birthday was in the last week. If you asked a villager to stay, then they won’t leave either.

Making a Villager Leave Naturally in ACNH

There might be a very specific villager that you want to leave your Island, but you can’t specifically choose him to kick him out or anything, but you can surely manipulate the moving out system.

The villager that chooses to think about moving out and then have your permission to do so depends on:

  • Their friendship level with you ranging from positive to negative, negative being most likely provoking the villager to think about moving out.
  • The ” Move out” thought of certain villagers increases by one point if you don’t interact with them anyway, 30 being maximum.
  • How uncomfortable you make them which will affect the friendship level.
  • Hitting the villager with nets three consecutive times, pushing them and pushing them into the pitfalls. This will contribute to lower friendship levels.

Amiibo Card and Campsite

Use your Amiibo card to invite a new villager when your Island is at full population capacity, the incoming villager will strike a deal with a resident of your choice, but before this, the incomer will ask you to fulfill their crafting requests.

Once the requests are fulfilled, you will be able to evict the ACNH villager of your choice.

The Campsite method also exists, but it’s too unpredictable. You can use the Island’s internal recruitment feature, which will bring a camper from the Campsite to your Island as a new resident and remove a random villager from your Island.

For this method, you must be running at full capacity!

Changing System Time and Date
This way is quite controversial and may sound like hacking the game, but it might be the only necessary measure left for you. You can remove a villager by following these steps:

Home » Guides » Animal Crossing New Horizons 2.0 Update: All 16 New Villagers & How to Get Them

The Animal Crossing New Horizons version 2.0 update adds a variety of new faces to the game. This includes 16 villagers who you can meet and invite to live right on your island. You might be wondering who these new villagers are and how you can encounter them. Whether you’re just curious or you’re looking for a new friend to live on your island, here are all 16 new villagers and how to meet them in the Animal Crossing New Horizons 2.0 update.

How to Get the New Villagers

The new villagers that are being introduced in the Animal Crossing New Horizons version 2.0 update are all added to the standard pool of villagers you can encounter in the game. This means that you can meet them the same way you would meet all of the other villagers.

There are a few ways to do this. The most common way is to have an open house plot (usually by letting one of your 10 villagers move away) and traveling to islands using Nook Mile Tickets. As long as you have an open plot, you will meet a random villager on these islands. There is a chance of one of the new 16 villagers appearing here, and you can talk to them to invite them to live on your island.

Just like previous villagers, these 16 new animals can also randomly visit your campsite and can be invited to live on your island by convincing them to move there. They can also be summoned to your campsite via amiibo card if you have the card of the specific villager you want.

Lastly, these villagers can randomly move into open plots, and they can be invited to live in open plots if they are moving away from someone else’s island by connecting with that player online.

Let’s now introduce you to the 16 new villagers who are being added in this update.

Getting more villagers on your island and building the community is a very fun part of all Animal Crossing Games. Though in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, this process is actually a bit tricky and complicated. To help you with making more friends we made this guide showing How to Get More Villagers in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

How to Get More Villagers in Animal Crossing New Horizons

There are a few different ways you can bring more villagers to your island but they do not work concurrently. Meaning, you can’t just farm villagers. Animal Crossing doesn’t actually allow you to get that many villagers overall.

When you start out in the game, you will only have two villager friends. Over time, this number will go up; mostly by the help of Tom Nook.

To make the villages begin appearing at your island, you need to invite at least three of them. After you do that, Tom Nook will hit you up and tell you to gather some materials for constructions and build construction sites all around your island. The villagers will show up once construction is finished.

You can invite villagers to your island in the following ways

Travel to Other Islands
Probably the easiest way to get more villagers is to travel to other islands. To do this, you need a ‘Nook Miles Ticket’.

To get your hands on one of these, travel to the Resident Services and go to the Nook Stop terminal. Buy the ticket from here and then make your way to the airport.

Choose the option to fly and then hit ‘Use Nook Miles Ticket’ to be taken to another island. Here, you will see a few villagers roaming around. To invite them, simply just speak to them two times.

Sell Plots of Land
Once the Resident Services building opens its door, you will then have the ability to sell plots of land. Periodically, you will be contacted by Tom Nook who will inform you that a plot has been sold, and you’ll be rewarded with 1000 Miles. Every plot sold will cost you 10,000 Bells and you will also have to make space for the new house.

Construct a Campsite
Once the Resident Services tent is finally upgraded to a building, you will be able to construct a campsite which will bring in new villagers daily. Interact with them to invite them to your island.

Use Amiibos to Invite Villagers
With the power of the NFC reader on your Nintendo Switch, you can even use your physical Amiibos to invite villagers to the campsite.

All you need to do is go to the Nook Shop Terminal and select ‘Invite to Campsite’. Put the Amiibo on the NFC reader and a villager will arrive at your island.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

A big part of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and really any entry, is getting your new hometown exactly the way you’d like it. This can involve building up facilities, making the surroundings look good, and… controlling the population. Once you get settled, you might start wanting to make Animal Crossing villagers move in or out. But how? Well, fortunately it isn’t too difficult.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

How do I make an Animal Crossing villager move in?

Well, you start Animal Crossing: New Horizons with two random villagers. After that, you use 5,000 Nook Miles at the Nook Stop Terminal at Residential Services to recruit three villagers and go through the motions of building three homes.

After Residential Services is set up, you have new ways to lure people in after spending 10,000 bells on a new home that Tom Nook will have you place in town after you acquire it from him. You can still go to an island with Nook Miles and hope to meet someone you could lure to your home. (That’s how you get your third through fifth residents.) However, you can also use a Campsite to entice new neighbors or just wait for someone to randomly, eventually buy the home you set down.

To get a Campsite, you have to have been playing long enough for Residential Services to have an actual building. Once it is there and you ask Tom Nook what to do twice, he’ll give you a recipe for a Campsite Construction Kit. As with many projects, this means gathering and using materials. The price isn’t as steep as Nook’s Cranny, fortunately. You need to have 15 iron nuggets, 15 wood, 15 softwood, and 15 hardwood.

Once you get everything together, you have a plot you can place. Find a good spot in your town and set it up. Then, let Nook know what you did. The Campsite will then be set up. New animals could randomly visit or you could use it with amiibo cards to get a specific person to stop by and move in.

How do I use an amiibo to make an Animal Crossing villager move in?

You need two things before you can use an amiibo to make any Animal Crossing villager move into your Animal Crossing: New Horizons town. You have to have been playing for a week, so Residential Services has been upgraded, and you need to have a Campsite set up. Once both of those things happen, there will be a new option at the Nook Stop Terminal. You choose the “Invite amiibo Camper” option and use an Animal Crossing amiibo card. As long as you have fewer than 10 villagers and an open home plot for them, you should have no problem convincing that person to move in.

But, what if you do have 10 villagers already? Well, that’s when amiibo cards really work their magic. After completing three requests for an amiibo camper by crafting one item for them on each visit, you can invite them to move in. Even if your town is already full and you have 10 villagers, you can then choose to have one of those villagers move out so the camper can move in.

How do I make an Animal Crossing villager move out?

It is much easier to make an Animal Crossing villager move out in the Nintendo Switch entry than in past games. That’s because here, the animals are far more emotionally sensitive. Which is to say that the characters and the game both pay more attention to who you are and aren’t talking to. You just ignore the person you would like to see move.

This isn’t an instant process and won’t trigger until you have a few villagers and have been playing for a few days. The idea is if you want an Animal Crossing villager to move out, you have to completely ignore them for days. Pay attention to everyone else, but avoid them, even if they approach you. How long you’ll need to dodge the critter will vary, but eventually they will have a thought bubble over their head.

Talking to them once the bubble has appeared allows you to tell them that it is time for them to move on. They will then move out swiftly and make room for the next new animal friend.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for the Nintendo Switch. And, in case you missed it, here’s a “guide” for tips on making your island the sort of place real-world friends would want to visit.

It’s not as creepy as it sounds, but it is possible to trade a villager in New Horizons

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Amazingly, it’s actually possible to trade a villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I must admit, after seeing so many people talking about having villagers up for grabs on their island, I was a little sceptical about how to trade a villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and whether it was indeed as sketchy as it sounds.

Thankfully, it’s rather more NSFW than I feared and figuring out how to trade a villager in New Horizons is actually more straightforward than expected. Here’s how it works:

1. Wait for someone to say they’re moving out

There comes a time in every villager’s life where they might feel the need to move on from your fair isles and explore somewhere new. Hopefully it’s that annoying one that you’ve come to detest even the mere sight of, but sometimes it’s just a cute one that wants a change in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (opens in new tab) .

They’ll let you know they want to leave. You can either try and persuade them to stay, or let them go. The next day, they’ll be in their homes packing up their stuff into cardboard boxes. And it’s then that the trading option becomes available.

2. Packing day is time to pounce

When a villager is in their home packing up their things, the day after they let you know they’re moving on, it’s possible to trade that villager with another player.

How it works is that anyone who wants that particular villager needs to first have an empty plot on their own island. Then, they can come and visit your island, and head over to speak to the departing villager in their home.

They will then be given the option to poach said villager, and ask them to make the move to their own island. Working out how to trade a villager in New Horizons is actually just as simple as that, it just requires a bit of coordination and good timing.

That said, the methodology when it comes to how to evict a resident in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (opens in new tab) is less clear cut sadly.

Animal Crossing’s new Happy Home Paradise DLC may be all about designing houses for villagers on far-off islands, but there’s more to it than that. A lot of the things you eventually unlock on the job eventually make their way back to your own personal island.

One of these said features is (finally) the ability to customize both the interior and exterior of all the houses on your island. No longer do you need to watch Sherb suffer because he awkwardly placed the chair you gave him backward! In this guide, we’ll tell you how to unlock this redesign feature.

Unlocking Villager Home Redesigning in New Horizons

We’ve got both good news and bad news for you. The good news? Unlocking features in Happy Home Paradise is remarkably straightforward. The bad news? It’s going to take some time to grind it out.

You see, almost all the new features included in the DLC are locked behind the number of vacation homes you complete for Paradise Planning. You start unlocking things pretty quickly. After two jobs, you get the Paradise Planning Network on your phone so you can revisit houses you’ve designed. After four jobs, you start unlocking facilities on the island like the school, which you can decorate and visit.

Bigger features, like villager home redesigning, take a good long while to unlock. In fact, if you want to unlock this new feature, you’ll need to complete 30 different vacation homes. After you do that Lottie will tell you about the apparel shop, but won’t mention anything about your own island. For that, you need to head back to your own town and talk to Tom Nook who will unlock the ability for you!

  • Two Jobs: Paradise Planning Network.
  • Five Jobs: Vine DIY, storage space unlocked on second floor.
  • Six Jobs: Earn 9,000 Poki per job, new uniforms unlocked, workbench on second floor. The school facility is unlocked. Complete to gain access to room sizes.
  • Seven Jobs: Can now summon vacationers with amiibo. Limited to regular villagers.
  • Eight Jobs: Unlocks wall partitions DIY.
  • 11 Jobs: Earn 12,000 Poki per job.
  • 12 Jobs: Customize your polishing effect. Unlocks lighting and the café and restaurant facility.
  • 13 Jobs: Can now visit other people’s creations on the Paradise Planning Network.
  • 15 Jobs: Use DIY made furniture in your jobs.
  • 16 Jobs: Unlock roommates for the vacation homes.
  • 17 Jobs: Unlocks soundscapes.
  • 18 Jobs: You can add a second floor to the vacation homes.
  • 19 Jobs: Earn 15,000 Poki per job. Can now summon VIP villagers. (Those who don’t have houses like Isabelle)
  • 22 Jobs: Unlocks the hospital facility.
  • 23 Jobs: Even more soundscapes.
  • 25 Jobs: Gain access to your furniture catalogue when decorating.
  • 30 Jobs: Unlock the apparel shop facility. Talk to Tom Nook to unlock the ability to decorate your own villager’s houses (internal and external).

As for other additions the 2.0 update offers, players can now enact ordinances that will change aspects of your island. For example, if you’re tired of pulling weeds, you can pay 20,000 Bells for the Beautiful Island ordinance. It’ll make your residents help with keeping the island clean. Alternatively, the Bell Boom ordinance increases the purchase and selling costs of goods.

There’s also a new café opening in the museum, which you can visit along with new islands you can explore via Kapp’n’s boat. Players can also set up farms to grow a variety of different vegetables and plants. All of this is free for players to enjoy with the Happy Home Paradise DLC, which you can buy for $25 or get for free with the upgraded (more expensive) Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Here’s everything you can do with Animal Crossing Amiibo cards in New Horizons.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ big 2.0 update is here, and it arrives alongside a fifth series of Animal Crossing Amiibo cards. Thanks to the NFC reader in the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con and Pro Controller, these cards can be scanned in the game to invite new villagers to live on your island, set up photoshoots with your favorite characters, and more.

There are 48 cards in total in the Series 5 set, including a handful of brand-new villagers who were introduced to the game as part of the 2.0 update. If you’ve gotten your hands on some of these cards and want to invite the new characters to your island, here’s a rundown on how to use Amiibo in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

New Amiibo villagers

As mentioned, New Horizons’ 2.0 update has introduced eight brand-new villagers, all of whom are available as Amiibo cards in the Series 5 set. If you manage to get your hands on these cards, you’ll be able to invite the characters to live on your island once you’ve gone through the process detailed below.

Each pack costs $6 and contains six random cards. Here are all the new villagers in the Series 5 set:

  • Cephalobot (octopus)
  • Ione (squirrel)
  • Marlo (hamster)
  • Petri (mouse)
  • Quinn (eagle)
  • Sasha (rabbit)
  • Shino (deer)
  • Tiansheng (monkey)

Sanrio Amiibo cards

There are other special villagers you can only get through Amiibo cards. New Horizons’ March 2021 update introduced several Sanrio-inspired characters who are only obtainable through the Animal Crossing Sanrio Amiibo cards.

There are six cards in total, each of which features a villager (and accompanying items) inspired by a particular Sanrio character. The villagers and the characters they’re based on are as follows:

  • Rilla (gorilla) – Hello Kitty
  • Marty (bear cub) – Pompompurin
  • Étoile (sheep) – Kiki & Lala
  • Chai (elephant) – Cinnamoroll
  • Chelsea (deer) – My Melody
  • Toby (rabbit) – Kerokerokeroppi

In addition to inviting the characters to live on your island, you can scan their cards to unlock special Sanrio items. Once you invite the characters to your campsite, you’ll be able to order Sanrio-themed items in the game through the Nook Shopping catalog. These include special furniture, wallpapers, clothing, accessories and more.

How to invite new villagers with Amiibo

One of the main things you can do with Animal Crossing Amiibo cards is invite characters to live on your island — making this the easiest way to get a specific villager to move in (provided you have their card). However, the process is a little involved, and it requires you to first invite the character to your campsite. Here’s what to do.

1. Invite to campsite

Access the Nook Stop terminal in your Resident Services building and choose Invite Amiibo camper. After that, the game will prompt you to scan an Amiibo card. Note that if another character is currently occupying your campsite, the game will ask if you want to replace them with the villager you’re trying to summon.

2. Visit the character’s tent

Once you’ve invited an Amiibo character to your campsite, you’ll need to visit their tent and fulfill a request. Speak to the character and they’ll ask for a specific item. Craft whatever it is they’re looking for and show it to them.

3. Repeat the process two more times

Although you’ve fulfilled their request, you can’t ask the character to move to your island just yet. You’ll need to invite them back to your campsite two more times and fulfill more requests before they decide to move in.

Since you can only invite a specific character to the campsite once per day, the entire process will take at least three days before they’ll finally agree to move in (unless you expedite things by “time traveling” — a fan term for manually adjusting your Switch’s internal calendar to change the in-game date).

4. Invite them to live on your island

The third time you’ve fulfilled the camper’s request, they’ll tell you they’d like to move to your island. If you already have 10 villagers — the maximum number the game allows — you’ll need to select one of your current neighbors to boot before the new character can move in. Your old neighbor will be gone the following day, with the new villager taking up residence in their plot.

Keep in mind that this process only works with villager characters; you cannot invite special characters, such as K.K. Slider, to live on your island, although you can invite them for photoshoots. More on that below.

Other Amiibo uses

Beyond inviting new characters to live on your island, there are a few other things you can do with Amiibo cards and figures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including setting up photoshoots. To begin, speak to Orville in the airport and tell him you’d like to fly to Harv’s Island. Once there, speak to Harvey to access Photopia, a special building where you can arrange photoshoots with your villagers and Amiibo characters.

You can also use Amiibo cards and figures to invite characters to Brewster’s cafe, the Roost , which has been added to the game as part of the big 2.0 update. Using the Amiibo phone in the back corner of the cafe, you can scan Animal Crossing Amiibo cards and figures to invite those characters for a little coffee break.

Alongside Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Series 5 Amiibo cards, Nintendo has released a paid DLC expansion for the game called Happy Home Paradise . Much like the Happy Home Designer spin-off game for Nintendo 3DS, this expansion lets you take on jobs designing dream vacation homes for villagers. The DLC costs $25 to purchase outright, but everyone who subscribes to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack plan can access it for no additional cost.

If you’ve been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons for any amount of time, you’ve probably come across Ankha. She’s one of the most iconic Villagers in the series and a firm favorite among fans. In fact, she’s been in the top tier of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Villager popularity list since the game launched. In this Animal Crossing: New Horizons Ankha Villager Guide we’re going to cover everything there is to know about Ankha. Hopefully, you’ll learn something.

Who is Ankha?

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

The first thing you need to know about Ankha is that she’s actually a snooty cat Villager, not a sphinx as her looks would suggest. She’s appeared in every Animal Crossing game apart from Pocket Camp, Wild World, and Animal Forest.

Ankha’s name has shifted slightly over the years from ‘Ankh’, which is actually an Egyptian hieroglyph. This is where her name is believed to originate from though, since it means life. Given that the Animal Crossing series are life simulators to some degree, this would fit with the themes presented by the series.

However, her name also fits within that of the famous Pharaoh Tutankhamun. Her appearance resembles the tomb he was found in, adding yet more evidence to the pile that suggests she is inspired by Ancient Egypt.

Interestingly, her Japanese name is ‘Nile’, as in the River Nile. Her German name is ‘Kleo’ after ‘Kleopatra’. Both of these have Egyptian connotations. It’s uncommon for a Villager to have so many different names across several regions, but it must be to bring her in line with what is widely known as Egyptian in each.

Birthday

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

The most important piece of information in this Animal Crossing: New Horizons Ankha Villager Guide is her birthday. It’s September 22, when she’ll be hiding out in her home. You should go and visit her on this day because she’ll give you cake. You might also advance your relationship with her as well.

Ankha’s Personality

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

As I’ve already mentioned, Ankha has the snooty personality. This means that she loves to gossip and make herself look beautiful. At first she might appear rude to players, but after some time she’ll warm up to them.

She’ll get on well with cranky and normal Villagers. This is because they are also rude, and anyone who is rude will love Ankha.

Unfortunately, Ankha is going to rub most other Villagers up the wrong way. Lazy and jock Villagers will be high on her list of Villagers to hate, because they’ll ask her about her appearance. She hates that.

Ankha’s House

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

The exterior of Ankha’s house is very normal. There’s nothing to hint at what madness lies inside. Take a step into the interior though, and you’ll be greeted with a tomb full of Egyptian furniture. It’s quite simple, with a little bit of furniture here and there. The massive pyramid in the middle of the room is quite hard to ignore though. It’s quite creepy really. It’s almost like Ankha is ready to be buried alive in her home.

That’s all there is to know about Ankha in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. If there’s something you think we missed, let us know what it is in the comments.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are hundreds of villagers that you can invite to your island, to create the close-knit community you’ve always wanted. You really can pick your neighbors. Here’s how to get all the villagers you want in New Horizons.

You can eventually build a community of up to 9 villagers on your island in New Horizons (10, including you), but you can’t start it up right away. After all, at the beginning of the game, your island is basically a sandy rock in the middle of nowhere. In real estate terms, it’s a real fixer-upper. You have to make it a place where other people would want to live.

To unlock the ability to invite villagers to your island, you first have to build your museum. Give Tom Nook five bugs or fish, then get Blathers on the scene and gather 15 more potential exhibits for him. Wait a couple of days, and you’ll have a Museum to fill with all your discoveries.

Next, upgrade Nook’s Cranny. You’ll need 5,000 Nook Miles and 30 wood, hardwood, softwood, and iron nuggets to get Timmy and Tommy’s shop to its final form. Pick a place for it on your island, and it’ll be open for business the next day.

This spurs Tom Nook to turn Resident Services into a permanent building, rather than a tent, complete with Isabelle showing up as his support staff. Nook will also give you the DIY recipe for building a Campsite, which takes a day to complete, and ask you to build one, as part of his ultimate plan to hold a K.K. Slider concert.

Once the Campsite is operational, a random villager will visit the island every day, which Isabelle will mention in her morning announcements. You can talk to the villager in the Campsite’s tent to play card games with them, and can get random pieces of clothing or furniture if you win.

If you speak to a villager three times, they’ll eventually ask you to build them a specific item as a souvenir. Whatever that item is, if you don’t already have the DIY Recipe for it, they’ll give it to you. Keep talking to them after you provide the requested item, and eventually you can encourage them to become a permanent resident of the island. You can also discourage them entirely, so eventually they’ll leave and a new random villager will take their place.

You can also recruit new villagers by heading out to Mystery Islands. There’s usually a villager there–and again, they’re randomly selected–who you can entice to visit your island by speaking to them twice.

The problem here, which you may have already spotted, is that both of these methods get you a random character every time, out of a base pool of just under 400 possible villagers. If you’re looking for a specific buddy to be your new neighbor, or even a particular type of villager (maybe you want all bears or something, maybe that’s your theme, it’s totally up to you), it could be in-game years before you run into them, even if they aren’t one of the rare ones. It’s just down to the luck of the draw.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

At time of writing, the only way to get a specific villager as a guaranteed appearance in New Horizons appears to be through scanning an amiibo, which you can do via the Nook Stop in Residential Services. Any character you invite into the game via amiibo will automatically be the next villager who arrives at your Campsite, ready to hear your island-life sales pitch.

You can’t use this method to recruit villagers who already have a big role in New Horizons, however, such as Isabelle. Besides, they’re kind of like your neighbors already.

When you first unlock the ability to invite villagers to your island, you’ll be able to set up space for up to three additional villagers to live there besides you. Your overall capacity will increase over time, until you can have a total of 9 other villagers living on your island with you.

For each villager you invite, you’ll need to pay Tom Nook 10,000 Bells for a plot of land where they can live. You get 1,000 Nook Miles as a reward for every villager who moves to the island, so even if you plan to be a hermit, it’s a useful exchange.

If you end up with a permanent resident that you don’t like, or you want to make space on your island for somebody else to move in, you can gradually make a resident feel unwelcome by complaining about them every day to Isabelle. You can also do things like avoid talking to them or hit them with your bug net, and eventually, they’ll pick up and leave. As far as anyone can tell, this is a one-way trip; once you’ve harrassed a villager into leaving your island, they’ll never return.

We’ve been living that Animal Crossing island life for a while now, and have a lot to say about it. Check out our game hub for more tips, tricks, and guides, including:

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ 2.0 update has dropped a full 2 days early, as Nintendo let Christmas come early. There are a ton of new features being added in this update. The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0.0 update is finally here. There are so many new things to do. There are a whole bunch of new cooking recipes to tinker with as well.

The update also brings 16 new villagers for players to try and recruit for some island-based fun. You can get up to 10 villagers, so you can recruit a bunch of them if you wish. Most players will pick and choose what they want, so feel free to make your choices.

Here are all the 16 new Villagers.

  • Ace the bird
  • Azalea the rhino
  • Cephalobot the robot octopus
  • Chabwick the penguin
  • Faith the koala
  • Frett the dog
  • Ione the squirrel
  • Marlo the hamster
  • Petri the mouse
  • Quinn the eagle
  • Rio the ostrich
  • Roswell the alligator
  • Sasha the rabbit
  • Shino the deer
  • Tiangsheng the monkey
  • Zoe the anteater

When you know which ones you want, you need to know where to find them. Here are the current methods you can use to get villagers, including the 16 new ones.

The campsite is the best way to get new villagers. Every day, a new villager will have a chance to spawn there. You need to have them come back three times, completing a task for them each time. The tasks will involve crafting them a desired item, and often playing a game with them. Once you finish the three days, the villager will move to your island.

This is where things like Amiibo cards and other amiibo methods become vital. By using the invitation feature in the Nook Stop, you can scan an NFC tag to invite a villager to your island. By combining this with the time travel trick, you can very quickly get a villager on your island.

There are a few other methods as well.

  • Visit mystery islands – Mystery islands have a very small chance to spawn villagers. With more than 400 options, you have a very small chance to get the villlager you want, but it is an option.
  • Get it from another gamer – You can also trade with friends if they have a villager you want. Ask them to get the villager into the moveout state, and then speak to the villager and invite them over.
  • Amiibo cards – if you purchase a pack of Amiibo cards, you might just get lucky and get the villager that you want. You want the new Series 5 cards if you can get them. They will be pretty soughtafter, so be prepared for scalpers online.
  • Rips – You can also use something like a Powersaves Amiibo and some bin files to rip your own copies of a desired amiibo. This is technically piracy though, so be careful and do so at your own risk.

So now you know how to get the 16 new villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0.0.

Zucker is a popular Villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, though not for the reason that you might think. In this Animal Crossing: New Horizons Zucker Villager Guide we’re going to cover everything there is to know about this character, and maybe even uncover why they’re so popular.

First things first, Zucker is part of the top tier list of Animal Crossing: New Horizons Villagers.

This means that he’s worth around 15-20 million Bells, or a couple of thousand Nook Miles Tickets, if you want to get him on the Animal Crossing black market that is.

The reason that he’s so popular is almost certainly because of the way he looks, as well as the fact that he’s an Octopus Villager.

Who is Zucker?

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Zucker is an octopus Villager with the lazy personality. His first appearance came in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, meaning that it is actually possible to get him via an Amiibo Card.

This just means that you can buy a card to insert him into your island, rather than having to go out and find him on a mystery island.

The thing that seems to make Zucker most attractive is the fact that he resembles a Japanese snack called ‘takoyaki’. His Japanese name is ‘Takoya’, which, when combined with his appearance, makes it extremely hard to believe that he wasn’t totally inspired by the snack.

Takoyaki is a fried dough ball, most commonly filled with octopus. The snack is also usually decorated with green onion, which is why Zucker’s freckles are green, and topped with a brown sauce, which is why his hair is brown and looks like liquid.

You’d also eat Takoyaki with a toothpick, which is probably where the sticks in his hair come from. He’s one of the few Villagers to represent food, and definitely one of the most obvious.

Birthday

Zucker’s birthday is March 8. Make sure you stop by his house if he’s on your island on that day.

He’ll be haging out waiting for other Villagers to drop by. If you give him a present, it might pay off for you in the long run. At the very least you’ll take part in a celebration, and even get some cake.

Zucker’s Personality

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Zucker is a Lazy Villager, much like Sherb. This makes him easy going. He also gets on with pretty much everyone on your island because of his laid back attitude.

Most of the time he’ll be relaxing, talking about sleeping, or fishing so that he can eat later. The only Villagers he won’t get on with are jocks, because he’ll offend or confuse them.

Zucker’s House

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Zucker’s house is really interesting. It resembles and outdoor market, with a stall for buying food.

This is almost certainly a reference to the snack that inspired his entire character. He has a few items that are related to food, such as a candy machine, a mixer, and an orange and pear box.

This is designed to make him look like he’s selling food. There’s even a log bench, as if you were going to sit down after buying some food from him. The walls and floors are designed to make it look like the interior is outside, finishing off the street vendor look.

Facts About Zucker

  • Zucker is actually the third octopus in the Animal Crossing series, behind Marina and Octavian.
  • The only other Villager to share his catchphrase is Bertha.
  • His English name, Zucker, means Sugar in German, which lines up with his appearance. However, it also sounds like sucker, which makes sense since he’s an octopus with suckers.
  • When ill or sad, Zucker’s eyes turn into blotchy paint-splatters with three white dots. It’s terrifying.

The only way we could finish off this guide was to show you just how creepy Zucker is when he’s singing with Marina and Octavian.

How to Hunt for Villagers for Free in Animal Crossing New Horizons – ACNH Villager Hunting Tips

In Animal Crossing New Horizons, players can use a Nook Mile Ticket to visit a mystery island to find a random villager. How you can hunt for villagers without Nook Miles Tickets? The free ACNH villager hunting method is using the campsite.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

How Does Campsite Work in ACNH?

The campsite in ACNH is a building that allows villagers to visit the player’s island. It gives visitors a place to stay when they come to your island. You can unlock the campsite after the Resident Services building is upgraded. In order to upgrade the Resident Service, you have to build 3 houses and get 3 new villagers to move into your island, which is separate from the first two villagers that arrive at the island with you.

The campsite is a great place to recruit more residents to live on your island once it’s built, the villager who comes to your island when you first create a campsite is fixed, you can’t change it, so if you want to get a specific villager, you can only try from the second villager. There will be a period lack of further visitors after the first resident has visited, the next visitor will show up at the earliest being three days after your last villager visited the campsite. What you should know is that the chance of getting a new villager at the campsite within the first two days after the last villager has left is 0, that is 5% after 3 days, 10% after 4 days, 15% after 5 days and 20% after 6 days (the highest chance). Make sure you wait for at least six days to maximize your chances of having a visitor at the campsite.

How to Hunt for Villagers for Free in Animal Crossing New Horizons

The biggest benefit for the campsite method is you don’t have to cost any ACNH NMT or Bells, another one is you won’t see the same villagers two times, you have a better chance of seeing potential villagers that you’ve never seen before. But it will take you much more time for seeing one villager at a campsite than being able to use one NMT and seeing a villager at a mysterious island.

Here’s the most efficient way to do the campsite method for time travelers, first you should begin by traveling 6 days forward from the last time you played, next load up the game until you see Isabelle’s morning announcements, if Isabella doesn’t mention a visitor at the campsite, exit your house and save the game. Then press your home button and go to the main menu and go to your date and time location to travel one day forward, open your game again to check if there is an announcement from Isabella, if not, repeat the process until it’s available. A tip is if Isabel doesn’t mention that you have a campsite visitor as your first announcement then this tells you that you do not have a visitor and you do not need to watch the rest of area announcements. Once you finally have a visitor, go see who it is, if it’s not a villager you’re looking for then exit the game and skip 6 days forward, repeat this entire process until you get the next villager, keep doing this until you get a villager you want to keep. Once you ask the villager to move in, it’ll prompt you to either buy land if you have less than 10 villagers or they will randomly move out one of your villagers if you have 10 villagers, because the maximum number of villagers that can live on your island is 10. If you happen to reach this limit, the villager that visits your campsite will offer to swap places with an existing character on your island, this character is chosen randomly, but a good tip to remain the residents you like is that once the campsite villager decides who will be swapped, you can prevent this by shutting down the game before the dialog between you to finish the game auto-saves at the end of conversations, so if you press the home button and shut down the game, you’ll be able to repeat this process until a villager can be replaced is selected.

Video advice: Why You Should Kill All Your Villagers in Minecraft

While there are nearly 400 villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it is only possible for a player to have 10 of them living on their island at any one time. As such, some fans will want to be very selective about their neighbors, bringing in the villagers that they want and getting rid of those that they do not. That said, convincing a villager to leave naturally can be an extremely protracted process in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but there is indeed a way to get it done quickly.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

There are hundreds of villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but you only have space for up to 10 of them on your island. Here’s how to recruit new villagers and remove the ones you don’t like.

Contrary to what it might seem, talking to Isabelle won’t make villagers leave. If you talk to her at Resident Services, there’s an option to discuss a resident. If you select this option, you’ll be able to select one of your villagers and tell Isabelle that either the way they talk or the way they dress is upsetting you.

  • Visit other islands Nook Miles Tickets
  • Random visitors at the campsite
  • Dust off your Animal Crossing amiibo cards
  • Adopting villagers from other players’ islands

  • Using the campsite and amiibo cards
  • Time Traveling

Quick menu

Instead of playing games with them, you will need to convince them by crafting multiple items for them and inviting them back several days in a row. Make sure to talk to them multiple times while they are on your island. If you already have 10 villagers on your island then you’ll get to decide who gets removed to make way for the new resident. That’s one of the reasons why using an amiibo is so much better, you actually determine who to boot rather than having the camper decide for you. More on that later.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Animal Crossing: New Horizons might not seem like it has an ultimate goal, but there is a way to “win” the game. Most of the gameplay focuses on enjoying your new island life and taking it easy, but Tom Nook and Isabelle down at Resident Services have greater ambitions. They want world-renowned musician K.K. Slider to visit the island, effectively putting your home on the map as the coolest destination there is.

To catch K.K.’s attention, you’ll need to have a 3-star rating for your island. Hitting this milestone unlocks weekly K.K. performances and the Island Designer terraforming app. This opens up a whole new world of customization options, and points you towards your next major achievement: the highly coveted 5-star rating.

Hitting 5 stars is one of the hardest tasks in the game (even harder than running away from tarantulas) so don’t get discouraged. You have a long journey ahead, but follow these steps and you can transform your island into the next big luxury hotspot.

Decorate, decorate, decorate

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

You’ll notice Isabelle encourages you to decorate the island. For the first time in the franchise, New Horizons allows you to take your interior design skills to the exterior. Decorate the beach, common areas, and any location that looks like it could use some sprucing up. You can display a variety of Nook Miles, DIY, and store bought furnishings to form fun and aesthetically pleasing environments.

Fencing also goes a long way. This will give your residences and themed areas a more put together look. Consider fencing off little yards around houses or creating parks and clever walkways. You could even set up a maze for unsuspecting visitors to stumble through. Hitting 5 stars requires lots of decorations, so get ready to think outside the box. It’s unclear whether the size or value of the items you choose influences your score.

Recruit new villagers

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

To reach 5 stars, you need to have the maximum number of villagers living on your island. You have two main options to find and recruit villagers: visiting a mystery island using a Nook Miles Ticket or inviting an NPC who visits your campsite.

You can purchase a Nook Miles Ticket for 2,000 Nook Miles from the kiosk in Resident Services. These tickets allow you to visit other deserted islands via the airport. Once you’ve reached your destination, you can gather supplies and may encounter a random NPC also exploring the area. If the two of you hit it off, you only need to talk to them twice to convince them to move to your island.

The campsite on your island will also offer a steady supply of NPCs to choose from. A random character will visit your campsite every few days, and you can persuade them to become a permanent resident by speaking to them multiple times. Instead of waiting for a camper to show up, you can also invite NPCs to stay at your campsite using amiibo cards or figures. Simply head to the Resident Services kiosk and scan your amiibo to get the ball rolling.

Get ready to garden

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Beyond filling your island with decorations and furnishings, you’ll need to cultivate the flora. You can plant new trees and flowers by purchasing saplings and seeds from Nook’s Cranny. To unlock new varieties, you’ll need to visit mystery islands using a Nook Miles Ticket, dig up the blooms and trees, then transport them back to you own island. Alternatively, you can snag new fruit and flower types from a friend’s island.

Burying a piece of fruit in the ground will cause a new tree of that type to sprout. You can also unlock new flower colors by cross-breeding them. Simply plant flowers of the same type in a checkerboard pattern and water them repeatedly. Different color combinations will produce different hybrids, so don’t be afraid to experiment.

Continuing the gardening trend, you should scour your island for weeds and pull them immediately. Though tedious, you can turn weeds into a number of DIY items. The game will also reward you with Nook Miles for your efforts.

Traffic and accessibility

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Ensure your residents and visitors have access to the entire island. This means building bridges and inclines, or terraforming to open up all levels and areas to the public. You’re the only one who seems to know how to use a vaulting pole and ladder in New Horizons, so you’ll need to make getting around as easy as possible for the NPCs that populate the world.

As you get everything connected, attract as much traffic to your island as you can. Buy from and develop friendships with the various merchants who pass through, such as Sahara, Flick, and CJ. This is especially important with figures like Mabel the hedgehog, as these interactions can entice certain characters to setup a permanent shop on your island. Even if they don’t decide to stay for good, these travelers can contribute to your home’s growing reputation.

Getting an Animal Crossing: New Horizons villager to leave can be a patience testing effort. At times you may feel like your efforts are getting you no where. But you may also find yourself wondering whether or not your villagers will ask to leave even though you have good relationships with them. The short answer is yes. But read on for details!

How to Make A Villager Leave

As we mentioned, ignore the villager as much as possible. Simply talking to them gives you more friendship points. Instead give them garbage or spoiled turnips as a gift. With this method you should be able to get a completely new villager to move out in about five to six days. The process obviously takes longer for someone you’re well established with. When they’re fully disgruntled, a cloud will stay over their head. This is an indicator that it’s a good time to talk to them. They may ask you if they should leave the island and you can encourage them to do so.

Hitting villagers with a net is often rumored to make them them leave faster, but it may also cause them to talk to you. Doing so will keep them from wanting to leave so you should not do that. The same can be said of complaining to Isabelle, this does not work either. Isabelle can only make them change outfits or their speech patterns, neither of which is effective at making people leave.

When Will Villagers Ask to Leave?

Villagers have a higher chance of asking to leave if you have a bad relationship with them. However, it’s always possible for them to ask to leave if you have the maximum of ten villagers on your island.

According to community tracking efforts, it must be at least two weeks after the last villager moved out. If a villager asks to move out and you convince them to stay, this extends the grace period by one week and you’ll have to wait at least seven days before you’ll be asked again.

Does Friendship Level Affect This?

Not that we can tell! We haven’t had a best friend ask to move out yet, but we’ve certainly had good friends talk about leaving our islands.

So if you’re wondering whether your best friend Raymond might ask to move out, chances are the answer is yes. It seems relatively random as to who asks to move out. My villager was easily the one I had the most interactions with and yet she still wanted to move on.

The good news is you can just ask them not to leave and they won’t. But if you’re patiently waiting for the next villager to move out, just try and keep track of time. You’ll save yourself those first two weeks of frustration wondering why nothing is happening.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game where you can create your own little town or even world by designing an island of your choice. For the island to be alive, of course, you can invite up to 10 villagers to live with you and complete your dream town.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

At the beginning of your journey, you will arrive on the island with two random villagers. Your task in managing the island starts here as you will be the one to choose the spot where these villagers’ houses will be built.

You cannot have more villagers unless you progress through the process until you unlock new tools and features. When you can finally use a ladder, create a bridge, and have a shop (Nook’s Cranny) opened, you will be asked to help Tom Nook sell three plots of land.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Having areas marked for sale means a villager can purchase that and have their house built there. In this case, three more villagers can be added to your island. However, at this point, you still don’t get to choose who the villagers are, and despite the plot of lands marked sold, only one villager can move in each day.

Continue playing until Residential Services gets an upgrade because only then will you have the option to sell more land or, in other words, invite more villagers.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Talk to Tom Nook, and he will offer island Infrastructure options, including selling more plots of land. This time, after choosing the spot to sell, you can either wait for the next plot of land to be sold to a random villager or go hunting for one that you prefer.

Mystery Island Tour

In Animal Crossing, villager hunting is looking for villagers that you want to move to your island. This is done by going on a mystery island tour via Dodo Airlines. Redeem a Nook Miles Ticket from the ABD machine in the Resident Services and bring it to the airport.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

The animals you will meet are random, but at least you have a choice to invite them or not. Also, make sure that the plot of land is not yet marked as sold, or you will not encounter any animal on a mystery island.

Campsite Visitor

Another way to choose and invite a villager to your island is through the campsite. But this manner of getting a new villager depends if there is a visitor on your camp. You will have to build a campsite first and then wait for a visitor before asking Tom Nook to sell a plot of land.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

You will know when there is a visitor at the campsite because Isabelle will announce when you start the game for that day.

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

If you like the visitor, you can convince it to move in, but it will first ask you to play a game. Complete three games, and then ask this camper to live on your island. Once it decides to move in and there is no more available spot, this camper will randomly select one of your villagers to ask them to move out. You can only agree or disagree, but you can’t suggest a villager.

Using an Amiibo

If you don’t want to spend hours and hundreds of Nook Miles Tickets, you can get an Amiibo of the villager that you want to have on your island.

All you have to do is to access the ABD kiosk in the Resident Services and select Invite a Camper. Go through the dialogue options and prepare your Amiibo card or Amiibo chip.

After confirming that it is the animal you want to invite as a camper, you have a short conversation. When the call ends, you can go and check the campsite, and that animal will be there.

Talk to the camper until it asks you to craft something that it can bring home as a souvenir. Talk to it several times until you can ask it to stay. This camper will decline but will tell you to invite them again next time.

To convince this camper to move in, you have to invite it three times, and since you can only invite one camper each day, you can time travel to make the process faster. Your preferred animal doesn’t have to be invited in three consecutive days; you will always convince them to stay the third time they visit.

Try this trick to see if you get rare villagers and islands

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

There’s a trick that’s being widely shared on social media which tells you a way to get rare villagers and islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. What are rare islands? They are basically those islands that have items, collectibles and resources which are not easily available. Money Rock island, Hybrid Flower island and Tarantula island are some of them.

If you end up on such rare islands, you can invite specific rare villagers (like octopi, cows, bulls, hippos etc) to your island too. But remember that villagers will only appear on these islands if you have space for them on your island. If not, the rare islands will be deserted.

What is the Airport Trick to Get Rare Islands and Villagers?

The process goes something like this:

  • Get a Nook Miles ticket from the Nook Stop at Resident Services
  • Print it out and take it along with you
  • Visit the airport and meet Orville, the cute Dodo bird
  • Make him blush by clapping for him
  • He will talk to you about using your Nook Miles ticket
  • Take the flight and you will end up on a rare island

There are many versions of this process that are going viral – some say that you have to carry a shovel with you to the airport, some say that Orville needs to be at his computer when you see him and some say that Orville has to blush the first time you the enter the airport.

This trick has worked for some and hasn’t worked for others, which means that it is not foolproof. Players have said that there’s just a 60% chance of getting access to a rare island, while many skeptical players have claimed that it’s randomly generated and there’s no way to guarantee it.

You can try out this trick yourself to find out. Maybe you will be lucky enough to get a rare island on your first try!

How to recruit new villagers in “animal crossing new horizons”

Having new villagers move into your island in New Horizons can be exciting times. But what happens when you get an island resident you don’t like? Luckily, you can do a few things to make them move out and make room for another villager. This guide will walk you through the steps for how to make villagers move out in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

How to Make Villagers Move Out in Animal Crossing New Horizons

There are a few reasons you might have for shooing away a villager from your island. Whatever the reason may be, there are two things you can do to get them to move out. It’s hard not to feel bad about doing this, but sometimes you just don’t get the villagers you want on your island.

Neglect Them

Nobody likes being ignored, and your island villagers are no exception. There is an invisible “friendship” scale between you and your villagers. When you’re in good standing, or best friends, with a villager, they will often interact with you more and sometimes even gift you things.

One thing you can do to get a villager to move out is simply by ignoring them. Make it a point to interact with the villagers you like while ignoring the villager you want to move out. This will make sure you maintain a good relationship with the villagers you want to stay while decreasing the “friendship scale” of the one you want out.

Do not do any tasks with them, and do not speak with them. As mean as this sounds, don’t even go to their birthday parties. I can’t believe I just said that. But, this is what needs to be done to ruin a friendship in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Lastly, don’t send them any letters either. Run past them and make sure not to interact with them.

Eventually, you will see a thinking icon over their heads and this is when you need to finally speak with them. The villager will then say they are thinking about leaving, at which point you should tell them to go ahead unless you’ve changed your mind.

Amiibo Campsite

The next way to get a villager to move out is through the amiibo Campsite method. You will need to have the campsite built and the amiibo card for the villager you want.

Head to the Resident Services building and scan the amiibo you want to move onto your island. This will trigger an event where the villager you scanned will come visit your campsite. Go to your campsite and interact with the new visitor. Build a relationship with them by crafting recipes they are looking for and interacting with them.

Repeat this process every three days, after which they will tell you they want to move in. Unfortunately, your island is full… but the new visitor will mention they heard that someone wants to move out.

At this point in the game, you will be able to select which villager on your island you want to leave. The next day, the villager you choose to leave will already be packing up their things and ready to move out.

How to Get the New Villagers

There are a lot of ways to get access to the 16 new villagers. And with the 16 New Villagers in Animal Crossing New Horizons, there are a total of over 400 villagers in the game. Needless to say, it can be tricky finding all 16 new villagers, but it can be done. Just like any other villager, you can invite them to your island when you find them.

One way to get a few of the new villagers is to restart your island. Just hope that they turn up as one of your starting villagers. If you don’t want to restart your island, open up a new housing plot and try your luck to get one of the 16 out of 400 villagers to meander into your island. Both of these ways rely on chance, but there are other ways.

If you like to take charge of your destiny, then go village hunting for the 16 new villagers. Travel to a new island using Nook Miles tickets. Once you’ve located a new villager that you want on your island, talk to them and invite them. Also, if you visit a friend’s island and they have a new villager moving out, you can invite them to your island. Though these are solid ways to get the new villagers, it will eat up your Nook Miles tickets, so make sure to collect those before taking off.

Another way to get the new villagers that involves a bit of luck is to talk and invite random villagers that arrive at your campsite, once you have that unlocked. And last but not least, players can purchase the Animal Crossing Series 5 amiibo cards which feature all 16 new villagers. This will be available on Nov. 5 with the Happy Home Paradise DLC.

With the 2.0 update, there is a lot on the horizon for Animal Crossing. Knapp’n will take you to a mysterious island, the Brewster and The Roost Coffee Shop are here, and Harv’s Island will have various updates just to name a few new exciting bits.
