You can now find Microsoft Edge alt tab settings under the “Multitasking” section in your Windows 10 settings. This is new since the Windows 10 20H2 update and you may have already noticed it in the behaviour when you press alt + tab to cycle through open programs on your computer.

If you have multiple tabs open in Microsoft Edge (and who doesn’t have that?), you may find that pressing alt + tab shows waaayyyy more open windows then you’d expect. That’s because the default behaviour now is to display open windows and the 5 most recent tabs in Edge.

Not only can this lead to an overcrowded view of open windows when alt + tabbing, but also does it seem way more easy to just switch to Edge and then click on your desired tab. Especially if you have many tabs open.

Microsoft has introduced this new functionality since Windows 10, version 20H2 (I have written a separate article that explains how easy it is to figure out which Windows 10 version you have). In 20H2, Microsoft Edge is more tightly integrated into Windows 10, which is why the Microsoft Edge alt tab settings are placed in Windows 10 settings rather than Edge’s own settings screen.

Luckily Microsoft has also left the option to disable Microsoft Edge alt tab settings.

How to Disable Microsoft Edge ALT TAB Settings

To disable Microsoft Edge alt tab windows, click the Windows 10 start button and click settings. Then click “System”, “Multitasking” and go to ALT + TAB. Now select “Open windows only” and you’re done.

Let’s go over this once again with a little more detail.

Click the Windows start button and select settings.

Then, in the Windows 10 settings screen on the left, select “Multitasking” and then look at the “ALT + TAB” section on the right, where it says “Pressing Alt + Tab shows”. Select “Open windows only” from the dropdown list to stop individual Edge tabs from appearing when you press alt + tab.

Other options you can select are “Open windows and all tabs in Edge”, “Open windows and 5 most recent tabs in Edge”, “Open windows and 3 most recent tabs in Edge”.

Can You Change ALT TAB Settings?

You can change alt tab settings in Windows 10 via settings – multitasking under the “Alt + Tab” section, but there’s also a section called Virtual desktops, which lets you define whether you want to show open windows from all virtual desktops or only the desktop you’re using.

The Microsoft Edge Alt+Tab Bug

There are several discussion forum threads where you can read about a Microsoft Edge Alt + Tab bug, which is what people sometimes experience after upgrading to Windows 10 version 20H2. Always make sure that you’re using the most recent version of Microsoft Edge if alt tab doesn’t work correctly.

In another article, I have written how you can easily find out exactly what version of Microsoft Edge you have so please feel free to check it out if you want to learn more.

One of the new features in Windows 10 version 20H2 is showing all open tabs from Edge. If you want to remove them you can. Here’s how.

Windows 10 version 20H2 aka “October 2020 Update” brings a lot of new changes. Some are welcomed and some of which are not. One of the new changes you might have noticed is that Windows now displays all open Microsoft Edge browser tabs in the task switcher when you press Alt+Tab. Some users might find this a helpful new change. It allows you to get to a specific open tab from the task switcher. But some of you might find it annoying and overkill. Here’s how to remove tabs from the task switcher or limit the number that shows up.

Remove Edge Tabs from Alt+Tab

To get started you need to go into Settings. Hit the Windows key and click Settings from the left-hand panel. Or, if you are a keyboard kung fu practitioner you can open Settings by using the key combo Windows Key + I.

Then select “Open windows only” from the dropdown menu.

That’s all there is to it. The next time you use Alt+Tab no Microsoft Edge tabs will appear in the task switcher.

Note that from that menu you can also select “Open windows and all tabs in Edge” “Open windows and 5 most recent tabs in Edge”, and “Open windows and 3 most recent tabs in Edge.” You might want to experiment with some of the different settings. Sometimes you might want some of your recent tabs to appear in the task switcher when you press Alt+Tab. But if you find it annoying that all the tabs appear by default the good news is you can change it.

If you don’t want edge tabs to appear in the alt-tab menu, you can disable it from the settings app. Here’re the steps to fully remove edge tabs from the alt+tab menu in Windows 10.

With the recent October 2020 update or also known as the 20H2 update, Microsoft introduced a new feature where the alt+tab menu shows the edge chromium tabs. By default, Windows 10 is configured to show at most five edge tabs in the alt+tab menu. If you are a daily Edge browser user, this might be a welcome feature. As most of us move between browser tabs pretty frequently, the new feature makes the task much easier and intuitive. This is especially true if you rely heavily on keyboard shortcuts for navigation. Since Windows only shows 5 or 3 tabs in the alt+tab window, it should be that much of a hassle to find other open windows.

That being said, the feature is not for everyone. If you are like me who only wants to see open windows in the alt+tab menu then you can configure it to do that. After all, you can always cycle through open tabs with the ctrl+tab shortcut.

So, without further ado, let me show the process to disable or remove the edge tab in the alt+tab menu in Windows 10.

Steps to Remove Edge Tabs from Alt+Tab Menu

You can remove the edge tabs from the alt+tab menu directly from the Settings app itself. The option is located on the Multitasking page. Here’s where you can find and configure the new alt+tab behavior.

  1. Open the Start menu. You can do that by pressing the “Start” key on your keyboard.
  2. Click on the “Settings” icon in the Start menu. You will find the Settings icon to the bottom left of the Start menu.
  3. Select the “System” option in the Setting window.

  4. Now, select the “Multitasking” tab on the left panel.
  5. Select “Open windows only” from the dropdown menu under the “Alt + Tab” section on the right page.
How to remove edge browser tabs from alttab on windows 10
  6. Settings are saved automatically.
  7. Close the Settings app.

That is all. From now on, you will no longer see the edge tab in the Alt+tab menu. If you are still seeing the tabs, restart the system, and try again. You should no longer see the tabs.

I hope that helps. If you are stuck or need some help, comment below and I will try to help as much as possible.

How to Disable Edge Tabs in the Alt+Tab Dialog in Windows 10

With recent changes in Windows 10, open tabs in the Microsoft Edge browser appear in the Alt+Tab window switching dialog as individual windows. If you are unhappy with this change, it is easy to revert it back to the classic behavior, when the Edge app appears as a single icon in Alt + Tab.

Microsoft describes the change as follows.

Are you a multitasker? your tabs open in Microsoft Edge will start appearing in Alt + TAB, not just the active one in each browser window. We’re making this change so you can quickly get back to whatever you were doing—wherever you were doing it.

Here is how it works in action:

If you would like to see fewer Edge tabs in the Alt+Tab dialog, or completely remove them from there and have the classic single Edge thumbnail preview of browser window, it is possible to configure this feature in Settings. Luckily, Microsoft provides the appropriate option.

To Disable Edge Tabs in the Alt+Tab Dialog in Windows 10,

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to Settings > System > Multitasking.
  3. On the right, go to the Alt+Tab section.
  4. Under Pressing Alt + Tab shows select Open Windows only from the drop-down list of options.
  5. Alternatively, you can select one of the following options according to your preferences.
    • Open windows and all tabs in Edge
    • Open Windows and 5 most recent tabs in Edge (default)
    • Open Windows and 3 most recent tabs in Edge
    • Open Windows only

Starting in Microsoft Edge Canary 89.0.736.0 , there is an alternative solution available. Microsoft has added an additional flag, Browser tab experiences in Windows, disables Edge tabs in the Alt+Tab dialog.

Disable Edge Tabs in Alt+Tab with a flag

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.
  2. Type edge://flags/#edge-window-tab-manager in the address bar and hit the Enter key.
  3. Select Disabled on the right of the Browser tab experiences in Windows option.
  4. Restart the Edge browser.

Microsoft Edge is now a Chromium-based browser with a number of exclusive features like Read Aloud and services tied to Microsoft instead of Google. The browser has already received a few updates, with support for ARM64 devices in Edge Stable 80. Also, Microsoft Edge is still supporting a number of aging Windows versions, including Windows 7, which has recently reached its end of support. Check out Windows Versions Supported by Microsoft Edge Chromium and Edge Chromium latest roadmap. Finally, interested users can download MSI installers for deployment and customization.

For pre-release versions, Microsoft is currently using three channels to deliver updates to Edge Insiders. The Canary channel receives updates daily (except Saturday and Sunday), the Dev channel is getting updates weekly, and the Beta channel is updated every 6 weeks. Microsoft is going to support Edge Chromium on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, alongside macOS, Linux (coming in the future) and mobile apps on iOS and Android. Windows 7 users will receive updates until July 15, 2021.

You might want to experiment with some of the different settings. Sometimes you might want some of your recent tabs to appear in the task switcher when you press Alt+Tab. But if you find it annoying that all the tabs appear by default the good news is you can change it.

There are many tools that are integrated into both Windows 10 and Windows 11. While some remain completely unknown to a large number of users, others are used repeatedly throughout the day. One of them is the Alt+Tab keyboard shortcut. When clicking on them, a floating window appears with everything that we have open on the desktop to be able to move between them and select the one we need quickly.

When we use this combination of keys, Windows is in charge of showing us a floating menu or window with all the applications that are open. In this way we can move between them quickly without having to go down and up tabs. In this way, we can select the one that interests us in the most accessible and comfortable way. This will make it especially useful if we are used to working with many applications at the same time, since we can find the one we need with a simple glance.

Along with the open applications, we can verify that if we are using Microsoft Edge, all the tabs that we are using in the browser at that time will be shown to us. In this way, we will see that the application windows are combined with all the active Edge tabs. Although this is something that can be useful in some cases, it may, in others, where we have a large number of tabs, it bothers us and it is difficult to find what we are looking for, so we are surely interested in deactivating it.

If we want to disable the Microsoft Edge tabs so that they are not shown when we press the Alt+Tab keyboard shortcut, say that it is a simple process that can be carried out by all types of users regardless of their ease with the system operative. This process is carried out from the Configuration section in both Windows 10 and Windows 11 as we will see below.

  • Disable Edge tabs in Windows 10
  • Prevent them from showing in Windows 11
  • Set the preview with Alt-Tab Terminator

Disable Edge tabs in Windows 10

Since its October 2020 update, Windows 10 shows all the tabs that we have open when pressing Alt + Tab, as separate thumbnails. In order to deactivate it, we will have to access the Configuration section, pressing the keyboard shortcut “Windows + I”.

Later we will select the system section. This will open a new window, where we will select the “Multitasking” option from its left panel. Here we will find the “Alt + Tab” section. If we press its drop-down menu, several available options will appear:

  • Open windows and all tabs in Microsoft Edge.
  • Open windows and the 5 most recent tabs in Microsoft Edge.
  • Open windows and the 3 most recent tabs in Microsoft Edge.
  • Open windows only.

Among them, we select the last option if we want to completely eliminate the tabs, because when we press Alt+Tab we will see how Edge will only appear with the tab that we have active.

In case we regret it, we can always go back over the previous steps. Thus, we can establish other options that we have available, such as showing 3 or 5 open Edge tabs every time we press that combination of keys, or if we prefer, select to show all of them.

Prevent them from showing in Windows 11

If we use Windows 11 as the operating system and we want to eliminate the annoying Edge tabs when pressing Alt+Tab, we can do it in a few steps. The first thing will be to access the Configuration menu, for which we press the key combination “Windows + X”. This will open a drop-down menu from the taskbar where we select the “Settings” option.

Once this is done, its main menu appears with all the options that we have available. Next, we go to the “System” tab that we find in the menu on the left and then we click on the “Multitasking” section that we find among the available options in the panel on the right.

This will show a new screen where we must look for the “Alt + Tab” section and click on its drop-down menu. This will bring up several available options:

  • Open windows and all tabs in Microsoft Edge.
  • Open windows and the 5 most recent tabs in Microsoft Edge.
  • Open windows and the 3 most recent tabs in Microsoft Edge.
  • Open windows only.

Within these options we must choose Open Windows only, if we want to prevent Edge tabs from appearing when pressing Alt+Tab.

We can also configure it, but so that only the 3 or 5 most recent tabs appear. And in the event that we regret it and want to see all the content open in Edge, we select the first option.

Once we have selected that only open windows be shown, we will check how when we press Alt+Tab, we will continue to see Edge, but it will only show us the tab that we have selected.

Set the preview with Alt-Tab Terminator

Another possibility that we have to improve the preview panel when we press Alt+Tab and prevent all open Edge tabs from appearing, is to use a third-party application such as Alt-Tab Terminator. With it we will obtain a replacement screen with which we will be able to preview and manage the different applications that we are running. In this way, it manages to improve the Preview function that we find by default in Windows.

This software allows us to have greater control over the preview windows that are activated by default. Pressing the key command shows us an interface in dark mode with the list of open applications in the left panel with the name of each of them. In the case of Microsoft Edge , only the current tab that we are using automatically appears and it tells us how many more we have open, so we will not have to make any configuration adjustments. While on the right side a preview of each of the programs appears.

Alt-Tab Terminator costs $19.95 , although it allows us to install a free trial version , so we can use it before deciding to buy it. The license is for life and allows you to use the application on any computer you have. It is compatible with Windows 7/8/10/11 as well as 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

New experimental flag introduced in latest Edge build

How to remove edge browser tabs from alttab on windows 10

As someone who works on a laptop, I use the Alt + Tab window switcher in Windows 10 quite a lot, as it allows me to jump from one window to another much faster than using the touchpad.

This is something that many other people out there do too, and Microsoft knows this very well. This is the reason the company has recently introduced an update in Windows 10, bringing Microsoft Edge tabs to the window switcher.

In other words, beginning with Windows 10 version 20H2, you can no longer switch to Microsoft Edge, but to actually an active tab within the browser, and this overall makes the experience much more straightforward.

But for others, it only complicates everything and makes the Alt + Tab UI more cluttered, eventually making the process overall quite a pain in the neck.

Microsoft too knows this isn’t how everybody wants to use the app switcher, so the company has introduced dedicated settings in the operating system to let you configure this new behavior. So if you don’t want to use it, that’s fine, just disable the new feature and stick with the old system. “With the latest Insider versions of Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge, your tabs now appear in Alt + Tab, allowing you to quickly switch between both apps and sites. You can also easily access the tabs for your most important sites directly on the Taskbar. The changes are just the first of many designed to make you more productive and save you time while multitasking,” Microsoft said earlier this year.

“Have you ever tried to use the Alt + Tab keyboard shortcut only to be surprised when it took you to the last app you were using rather than the last thing you were doing? The line between apps and sites has blurred as people spend more and more time in web browsers, but Alt + Tab was still limited to just apps. We’ve heard your feedback about how frustrating this was, so we’ve updated Alt + Tab to show your browser tabs right alongside your apps. This makes switching between open tabs as seamless as switching between open windows.”

And now, Microsoft is adding a way to disable this new behavior in Microsoft Edge too. As noted by TechDows, this feature is hiding under an experimental flag, so it’s not yet enabled for users, though it’s part of the latest Canary build in Edge 89.

Enabling it is pretty easy because you only need to update to the latest Canary build and then launch the app to type the following command in the address bar at the top:

edge://flags Next, you need to search for the following flag: Browser tab experiences in Windows What you need to do now is to click the drop-down menu on the right and switch to the disabled option. You’ll have to reboot your browser to save the changes.

Needless to say, for the Average Joe, it’s still easier to go to the settings app in Windows 10 for the whole thing. “We know Alt + Tab is sacred, so you can choose whether to show all, some, or none of your tabs by going to Settings > System > Multitasking in Windows. All your tabs are shown by default, but if you find it to be a bit much you can set Alt + Tab to only show the last three or five tabs instead. We’d love to hear which setting you prefer!” Microsoft says.

At this point, there’s no ETA as to when the new Edge feature would go live in the stable channel.

If you’ve tried the Alt+Tab keys combination for switching between windows kept open in the browser while you have other apps running simultaneously, you’ll not find this function useful. If you want to declutter your Alt+Tab screen, try to disable Edge tabs from the Alt+Tab display. It makes navigation much easier. To make the work easier or less cumbersome, see how it’s done.

You can easily prevent Edge from displaying multiple tabs as a separate window on Pressing the Alt + Tab key combinations via the Windows 11/10 Settings app. Because the user interface of Windows 10 and Windows 11 platforms differ a lot, the procedure to disable this feature for Edge is also different.

Edge users know that Windows supports an integrated set of key combinations to switch between apps quickly. Alt+Tab keys that display every active window in the system is one the best-known example. However, when you have not only multiple browser tabs open, but also numerous applications, navigating or switching between them can take an age.

Here, we will explain the process to disable Edge tabs displayed as a separate window in Alt + Tab for both Windows 11 and Windows 10 platforms.

Do not display Edge tabs in Alt+Tab in Windows 11

To disable Edge tabs from Alt + Tab display in Windows 11, follow the instructions below:

  1. Right-click on the Windows 11 Start menu and select Settings.
  2. In the Windows 11 Settings app, select System from the left pane.
  3. Move your mouse cursor on the right side to locate the Multitasking tab. Once you find it, click on it.
  4. On the System > Multitasking page, click on the drop-down menu next to the Alt + Tab option.
  5. Select Open Windows only.

The following steps will help Windows 10 users to disable Edge tabs from Alt + Tab display:

Do not display Edge tabs in Alt+Tab in Windows 10

Windows 10 users may disable Edge tabs from Alt + Tab display for convenience as follows:

  1. Open Windows 10 Settings.
  2. Select System
  3. Switch to Multitasking
  4. On the Multitasking page, turn towards Alt + Tab section
  5. From the Pressing Alt+Tab shows the drop-down menu, choose Open windows only

With this, you can limit the number of tabs that are displayed so things don’t get overcrowded.

Press Win+I key shortcut to open Windows Settings app.

Under the Settings app, navigate to System.

Switch to the Multitasking tab, when seen.

Now, on the Multitasking page, in the Alt + Tab section, look for the ‘Pressing Alt + Tab shows’ option.

When seen, hit its drop-down menu and select the ‘Open windows only’ to see only the windows of running programs, including the Edge browser.

Further, if you would like to see Edge tabs without cluttering the arrangement, select Open Windows and 3 most recent tabs in Edge or Open Windows and 5 most recent tabs in Edge option.

It’s important to note here that if the Alt + Tab section is not visible to you in Windows or not showing up, it is likely because you are running a previous version of Windows 10. You must be running version 2009 (also known as 20H2) or Windows 11 in order to see the Alt + Tab section.

How do I fix the Alt + Tab in Microsoft Edge?

By default, the Alt + Tab key combination displays each tab in Edge as a separate window. This seems fine if you are working only on the Edge browser. But if you are doing multiple tasks, say, you have opened multiple tabs in Edge and other applications on your computer, pressing the Alt + Tab hotkeys to switch among different applications can create a mess. This is because every time you press the Alt + Tab keys, you will see all tabs of Edge as a separate window and other opened applications.

To fix the Alt + tab in Microsoft Edge, you have to disable this feature for the Edge browser. We have explained the entire process above in this article for the systems running on both Windows 11 and Windows 10 platforms.

How do I fix the Alt + Tab not working?

The Alt + Tab key combination is used to switch among multiple applications or programs on a Windows computer. Sometimes, you may experience a problem where the Alt + Tab key combination does not work. In some cases, a restart fixes the problem. You should restart your computer and check if the issue persists.

You should also check your keyboard. Sometimes, a particular key on a keyboard does not work because of the accumulation of dirt or dust. Hence, clean your keyboard or try the Alt + Tab key combination with another Alt key. You can confirm whether your keyboard is working properly or has malfunctioned by connecting it to another computer. If you have only one system, you can check your keyboard on your friend’s system. If your keyboard is working fine but the Alt + Tab hotkeys are still not working on your system, restarting the File Explorer may fix the issue.

Up until now, the Alt + Tab function allowed users to quickly switch between running programs and apps. This will change soon with the upcoming Windows 10 feature update.

In Windows 10 version 2009, Windows 10 displays all Microsoft Edge tabs in the Alt + Tab. That is, tabs or webpages that are open in the Edge browser will now show up in Alt + Tab in addition to running programs and open File Explorer windows.

How to remove edge browser tabs from alttab on windows 10

According to Microsoft, this new feature will help Edge browser users to switch between open tabs quickly and easily.

Although some users might find this feature handy, most users will dislike it as it is going to clutter the Alt + Tab screen. Imagine what happens to Alt + Tab when you have 30 plus tabs open in Edge!

Luckily, you can turn this feature off if you do not want to see tens of tabs in Alt + Tab. When you turn off the function, the Alt + Tab screen will display only the Edge window instead of open tabs.

Disable Edge tabs from showing up in Alt + Tab

Here is how to stop Edge from showing all open tabs in Alt + Tab of Windows 10.

Step 1: Open the Windows 10 Settings app. This can be done by simultaneously pressing the Windows logo and I keys.

Step 2: In the Settings app, navigate to System > Multitasking tab.

Step 3: On the Multitasking page, in the Alt + Tab section, you will see the “Pressing Alt + Tab shows” option. From the drop-down box, select the “Open Windows only” option if you wish to see only the windows of running programs, including Edge.

If you wish to see Edge tabs but do not want to clutter the Alt + Tab, select Open Windows and 3 most recent tabs in Edge or Open Windows and 5 most recent tabs in Edge option.

This will declutter your Alt + Tab screen for sure.

NOTE: If the Alt + Tab section is missing or not showing up, it is likely because you are running version 2004 or a previous version of Windows 10. You must be running version 2009 (also known as 20H2) in order to see the Alt + Tab section.

The Alt-Tab keyboard shortcut is one of the most well-known and most useful in Windows. The shortcut has long made it possible to quickly switch between running programs and open windows, and in Windows 10 October 2020 Update (20H2) it has gained a useful new option.

With the latest feature update for Windows 10 installed, you can not only Alt-Tab your way between programs and windows, but also the tabs you have open in Microsoft Edge. Here’s what you need to know.

While the feature is enabled by default in Windows 10 October 2020 Update (20H2), the default setting may not be to your liking. Seemingly wanting to prevent overwhelming people who have dozens, scores or hundreds of tabs open at a time, Microsoft decided that just five tabs would be included in the Alt-Tab browser.

But if you’d like to change this so all of your tabs are available when you press Alt-Tab, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Click the Start button and then click the gear icon to open Settings
  2. Click System and then move to the Multi-tasking section
  3. Under the Alt + Tab heading use the drop-down menu to select the Open windows and all tabs in Edge option

You can use the keyboard shortcut Alt-Tab on modern Windows devices to display and switch between all open program windows.

While you have other options to switch to other programs, Alt-Tab may be faster than those. One reason for that is that it displays previews of those open windows on the desktop so that identification of the right one may be easier.

You can switch to any of the open windows using the mouse — b

y clicking on the window — or keyboard — by tapping on the Tab-key to flip through the windows.

The only other option provided is to close any open program window by hovering the mouse cursor over the representation, and a click on the x-icon that appears when you do so.

Customize Alt-Tab in Windows 10

How to remove edge browser tabs from alttab on windows 10

You can customize the Alt-Tab feature in Windows in several ways. Please note that this requires editing values in the Windows Registry, or using a third-party program that provides you with the options.

The three core options that you have in this regard are the following ones:

  1. Change the transparency level of the Alt-Tab interface border.
  2. Hide open Windows that may be displayed behind Alt-Tab.
  3. Dim the background of the desktop.

Change the transparency level of the Alt-Tab interface border

Do the following if you want to change the transparency of the Alt-Tab interface border.:

  1. Tap on the Windows-key, type regedit.exe, and hit the Enter-key.
  2. Confirm the UAC prompt.
  3. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
  4. Right-click on Explorer, and select New > Key.
  5. Name that key MultitaskingView.
  6. Right-click on MultitaskingView, and select New > Key.
  7. Name that key AltTabViewHost.
  8. Right-click on AltTabViewHost, and select New > Dword (32-bit) Value.
  9. Name that value Grid_backgroundPercent.
  10. Set the value in percent. 0 means 100% transparency and 100% no transparency.

Hide open Windows that may be displayed behind Alt-Tab

How to remove edge browser tabs from alttab on windows 10

  1. Use the instructions above to open the Registry Editor.
  2. Go to the Registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MultitaskingView\AltTabViewHost

  4. Name the value Wallpaper.
  5. Set the value to 0 to display windows behind Alt-Tab.
  6. Set the value to 1 to hide windows behind Alt-Tab.

Dim the background of the desktop

How to remove edge browser tabs from alttab on windows 10

Do the following to dim the desktop background when you use Alt-Tab.

  1. Check the instructions above to open the Registry Editor.
  2. Go to the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MultitaskingView\AltTabViewHost
  3. Right-click on AltTabViewHost, and select New > Dword (32-bit) Value.
  4. Name it BackgroundDimmingLayer_percent.
  5. Set the value in percent, 100% is full dimming.

Use AltPlusTab for Windows

How to remove edge browser tabs from alttab on windows 10

If you don’t like editing the Registry, or prefer a fast solution, then you may use the free Windows program AltPlusTab instead. It supports all three features described above, but is less flexible when it comes to the values that you can set.

Still, it offers a quick solution to change the Alt-Tab transparency, and background behavior.

So how does it look like if you enable all three features? It could look something like this

How to remove edge browser tabs from alttab on windows 10

I have created a Registry script that you can run to make the changes with a single double-click. You can download the script with a click on the following link: alt-tab-registry.zip

Make sure you edit the values in the Registry file using a plain text editor such as Notepad before you run it.

Here is the full script:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

; Set transparency of Alt-Tab interface between 00000000 (full transparency) and 000000100 (no transparency)

; Set whether windows are shown behind the Alt-Tab interface. 00000000 is no, 00000001 is yes

; Sets the dim percentage of the background, 00000000 is no dimming, 00000100 is full dimming

Now You: How do you switch between windows in Windows? (thanks Deskmodder)

This post shows students and new users steps to configure what the Alt + Tab shows in Windows 11. By default, the Alt + Tab lets you switch between open windows in Windows 11 and other versions of Windows.

Simply pressing the Alt+Tab keys on your keyboard while holding down the Alt key, and tapping on the Tab key scrolls through your open windows. When you see an outline around window you want, release the Alt key to select it.

That’s the most common way to use the Alt+Tab keys in Windows. Alt + Tab normally moves forward, from left to right. If you miss a windows, you’ll keep pressing the Alt key until you get back to the windows you want to select.

You can also use the Alt+Shift+Tab to move through the windows in reverse order, instead of from left to right.

In Windows 11, Microsoft added additional features to the Alt+Tab keys to open Microsoft Edge tabs as windows. You can now configure the Alt+Tab key to perform the following actions:

  • Open windows and all tabs in Microsoft Edge
  • Open windows and 5 most recent tabs in Microsoft Edge (default)
  • Open windows and 3 most recent tabs in Microsoft Edge
  • Open windows only

Below is how to configure the Alt+Tab keys in Windows 11.

How to choose what to show when the Alt+Tab keys are pressed in Windows 11

As mentioned above, by default, the Alt+Tab lets you switch between open windows in Windows 11 and other versions of Windows.

In Windows 11, you can choose what to show when you press the Alt+Tab keys, and below show you how to configure that settings.

Windows 11 has a centralized location for majority of its settings. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from the System Settings pane.

You can now exit the Settings app.

That should do it!

I just have a problem with the outline of windows when using alt+tab
Often I sit and stare to be apple to see which window is now in scope.

I’m with Emil. I came here hoping perhaps it would offer an answer.

BTW, to Richard’s otherwise helpful post above, note that the feature for having alt-tab optionally show Edge tabs is not new to Windows 11. It was/is in Windows 10 (indeed, it’s enabled by default, IIRC, as it’s something I always turned off.)

In switching among open windows with Alt+Tab, the black outline of the chosen window is too narrow to distinguish quickly and effectively. Can we either increase the width of the outline or make it a brighter color so it will stand out and make the choice more obvious?

I work on 2 screens and losing the “auto snap” (for lack of a better term) means that now instead of instantly working in the other window, I get a screen and have to do another mouse click to get to the window I want to go to.
In other words, this “upgrade” has lowered my efficiency.

Is there any way to change the settings to what it was before?

after latest update, alt+tab now uses it’s own order regardless of last used etc & there is noway to change it.
typical ms fubar

I fixed this alt+tab issue by updating registry, doing this:

How to enable old ‘Alt + Tab’ shortcut using Registry
To enable the legacy Alt + Tab shortcut style on Windows 10 or 11, use these steps:

Open Start.
Search for regedit and click the top result to open the Registry.
Browse the following path:

Right-click the Explorer (folder) key, select New, and click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Name the key AltTabSettings and press Enter.
Double-click the newly created DWORD and set the value from 0 to 1.

Click the OK button.
Restart your computer or kill explorer exe and run new explorer.exe
voila

Thank you so much! I had no idea and it was driving me nuts that Windows thought that Edge tabs were important enough to be shown by default with alt+tab.

Microsoft Edge offers built-in vertical tab navigation allowing for a more streamlined experience to make tab management and organization easier. With vertical tabs, you can easily shift to view your tabs in a pane to the side.

This feature allows you to easily see the titles and access controls like mute and close. It even makes it easy to reorder your tabs, with the ability to drag and drop to rearrange. Now everyone can view and manage their tabs from a pane on the side with a single click. This allows you to clearly see the tab titles and controls, making it easier to find and switch between the tabs you need, regardless of how many you have open.

New tab page is the one you see whenever you click on the + icon next to your last open tab in the browser’s title bar. You can also open a new tab page by pressing “Control + T” in Windows and “Command + T” in macOS. Every browser has their own new tab page design showing different items. Microsoft Edge’s new tab page by default shows quick links and news feed along with search box, favorites bar and few other items. If you are annoyed with quick links and news feed, here is how you can remove them from your new tab page in Edge.

Why to Remove Quick Links and News Feed?

Below is how the Edge browser based on new Chromium code will look like when you launch. Though the screenshot shows in Mac version, it will have similar cluttered interface in Windows as well. Below the Edge symbol, you can find quick links and news feed section. Quick links will show the shortcut thumbnails of some default sites like Office.com and Bing.com when you first launch the browser. After that, it will start picking up the items from your history and show frequently visited pages. The news feed contains feed from MSN.com, Bing.com and other Microsoft websites. You can customize the feed or scroll down and view the latest and popular news in your region.

There are many reasons you need to remove quick links and news feed:

  • Quick links can be useful to access the webpages, however, it can affect your privacy by showing the pages from your browsing history. You may feel annoyed to see unwanted thumbnails when launching the browser in front of your colleague or family member.
  • The news feed can easily distract you when you want to do some important tasks. You will be last with the vast news and end up in wasting the time. In addition, you may not like msn.com or bing.com pages showing by default in the feed. Finally, there are advertisements in the news feed that can annoy use and slow down the browser when you open a new tab page.

At any case, it is good to remove the clutter on your browser and keep it clean to focus on your task.

How to Remove Quick Links and News Feed in Edge?

Good part is that you can customize the new tab page in Edge in different ways as per your convenient. We will explain all possible ways and you can choose the best option that fits for you. Though Chrome browser also uses the same source code, removing thumbnails in Chrome is somewhat different process than Edge.

1. Delete Individual Quick Link Thumbnail

The first option is to remove individual thumbnail of a webpage shortcut showing in the quick links section.

  • Hover over the mouse on the item you want to delete and click on the three dots icon.
  • It will show you two options for renaming and deleting the icon.
  • Select “Remove” option to delete it from the quick links section.

This is useful if you want to delete a single item and you will not visit the page again. Otherwise, the shortcut will start appearing again from your browsing history section.

2. Manually Hide or Show Quick Links

The next option is to hide the quick links and show them manually when you need. Click on the small up arrow button just above the quick links section that shows “Collapse quick links”.

Now, Edge will hide all thumbnail favicons and you can manually click on the “Quick links” link to show them again.

Edge will remember your settings and will hide or show quick links when you launch the browser next time onwards.

3. Disable Quick Links Section in New Tab Page

This option will completely remove the quick links section from Edge new tab page.

  • Click on the gear icon showing inside the top right corner of the Edge browser’s new tab page.
  • By default, Edge will use “Inspirational” page layout. Click on “Custom” option.
  • You will see the “Quick links” section by default uses 1 row option. Select “Off” to turn off quick links in new tab pages.

4. Disable News Feed in Edge

You can click on the “Personalize” button showing above the news feed section and customize the appearance of your feed on new tab page. However, you can also disable the news feed to avoid distractions.

  • Click on the gear icon and then click “Custom” page layout option.
  • By default, the “Content” section uses the option “Content partially visible”.
  • Click on the “Content” dropdown and select “Off” option.

This will completely disable the news feed in Edge new tab page. Below is how the browser will look without quick links and news feed.

5. Customize Startup and Home Pages in Edge

Sometimes, what you want is not to change the new tab page but to customize the startup or home page. For example, you want to set a custom startup page of your favorite news website so that you can read the news when launching the browser. Similarly, you may want to set a custom home page to manually visit the page.

  • Go to edge://settings/ shortcut URL in the browser’s address bar.
  • Navigate to “start, home, and new tabs” section from the sidebar.
  • Here you can customize the startup behavior under “when Edge Starts” section. Select “Open these pages:” option and click on “Add a New Page” button. Enter the website URL that you want to open when launching Edge and add to this section. Now, Edge will launch with the entered webpage instead of a new tab page.
  • Similarly, you can set a custom home page to avoid opening a new tab page as your home.

Remember, startup and home page settings will not change your new tab page. However, you can avoid opening a new tab page frequently by using custom pages for these settings.

Note: clicking on “Customize” button under “New Tab Page” section in this settings page will ultimately take you to the new tag page. you can click on the gear icon and customize the quick links, background and feed content as explained above. If you want to use news feed in your new tab page, make sure to enable “Preload the new tab page for a faster experience” option to improve the loading speed.

6. Customize New Tab Page with Edge Add-ons

The last option is to use a third-party add-on and customize the appearance of your new tab page. New tab also contains few more items like search box, Edge icon showing at the center, weather, app launcher and favorites bar. You can remove the favorites bar by going to the “Appearance” section of the edge://settings/appearance page. However, you need a custom theme or add-on for removing other items.

  • Go to Edge add-ons page and search for “new tab”.
  • You can find plenty of add-ons for changing the new tab page to blank or force to use custom URL.
  • Install the add-on you like and use the new tab page as per your convenient.

You can also try custom themes or use extensions from Google Chrome Web Store on your Edge browser. Since, Edge runs with Chromium base code like Google Chrome browser, all Chrome extensions will also work on your Edge browser.

Final Words

We hope now you can remove quick links and news feed in Microsoft Edge new tab page. Instead of quick links and news feed, you can use bookmarks bar and custom startup/home page respectively. This will help to keep the browser clean, allow you to access the pages that you like without forced distractions. If required, you can also use third-party extensions offering custom themes to change the appearance of your new tab page.

If pressing Alt-Tab no longer works as intended, there’s a workaround that doesn’t involve rolling back any updates.

How to remove edge browser tabs from alttab on windows 10

Audio player loading…

Of all the features in Windows 10, bouncing around between apps and windows by pressing Alt+Tab might be the most useful one. If not, it surely ranks right up there as one of the best Windows shortcuts and tricks. So it is with added dismay that a recent update to Windows 10 appears to have broken the functionality for some users, because of a weird bug that seemingly has nothing to do with the feature (more on that in a moment).

There are actually two recent updates that could have caused Alt+Tab to stop working correctly on your PC, if you’re one of the unlucky ones. According to the folks at Windows Latest, the bug first appeared an optional preview of the August cumulative update, KB5004296.

Microsoft issues cumulative patches to Windows 10 on the second Tuesday of every month. This has become known as Patch Tuesday (unofficial term). Some are bigger than others, depending on the number of bug fixes and security patches introduced, and they often require a system reboot.

Optional previews that are doled out early contain bug fixes that will be included in the next Patch Tuesday update, so users can get relief for certain issues without waiting. But in this case, both the preview update and the actual Patch Tuesday update for August (KB5005033) messed up the Alt+Tab feature on some PCs.

“If I Alt+Tab from a game (here, Witcher 3) and try to resume it, it just flickers and automatically Alt+Tabs out from the game. It pretty much prevents me from going back to the game if I Alt+Tab out from its full screen,” a user wrote on Reddit. “Furthermore, Win10 under this update sometimes Alt+Tabs out of the full screen game immediately after starting up the game from Steam. Basically, the full screen game now starts up minimized on my taskbar. If I try to click the game to go to its full screen mode, Win10 immediately Alt-Tabs from the full screen and I’m back to square one.”

Another user reported the same thing in Microsoft’s Feedback Hub, adding that uninstalling the cumulative update fixed the issue on their PC.

Fortunately, this does not affect everyone—I have the latest update installed on my main machine that runs Windows 10 Pro, and have not run into this problem (and hopefully I didn’t just jinx myself). For those who are experiencing it, though, even more fortunate is there is a workaround that doesn’t necessarily involve rolling back the latest round of security patches.

Best gaming PC: the top pre-built machines from the pros

Apparently this is somehow linked to the News and Interests feed in Windows 10. The fix is to disable it. To do this, right-click on the Taskbar, hover your mouse cursor over the News and Interests section, and select the Turn off option. The Alt+Tab feature should now be working normally (I’d also try rebooting, just because that’s sometimes the magic cure-all for Windows).

The alternative is to uninstall the cumulative update that borked the Alt+Tab feature. However, this leaves you vulnerable to dozens of security holes that were patched, and also rolls back a handful of fixes, one of which addressed an issue that prevented gaming services from opening certain games.

Still, if you absolutely can’t be without the News and Interests feed and are willing to go that route, you can roll back the update by navigating to Settings > Update & Security, then click on View update history. Once there, click on Uninstall updates, then select the problematic update and click Uninstall.

On July 1, Microsoft started rolling out Windows 10 Build 20161 to the testers in the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider program. Windows 10 Build 20161 comes with a number of notable features, improvements, and a bunch of bug fixes.

With Windows 10 Build 20161, Microsoft is introducing theme-aware support for tiles in the Start Menu to remove the solid colour backplates behind the app icons. In addition, Microsoft confirmed that tiles will get Fluent Design-enabled translucent background to match your colour scheme.

The tiles are dropping the solid colour for Fluent Design-style icons and embracing translucent backgrounds with a splash of accent colour. The updated look blends in with the overall concept of Microsoft’s Fluent Design.

This would be optional and Microsoft says it will not force the updated experience. You can always switch to the classic Alt + Tab experience from Settings > Systems > Multitasking.

You can also click on the settings cog icon to turn off the notifications for a particular app and access the system-wide notifications settings.

The company has also started testing personalization options for the Taskbar on new installations of Windows 10. Microsoft says that they are currently seeking feedback from the testers for the icons pinned to the taskbar by default.

Microsoft is currently rolling out these improvements to the Windows Insiders in the Dev channel and none of the features is guaranteed to show up in Windows 10 productions builds this year.

In my experience, this force close will re-open with all tabs that were open before being “killed” even with Edge configured to not open with previous pages. My workaround to that was to taskkill /F /IM MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe repeatedly, with a 1 second delay, until all tabs were closed (going too fast did not kill all tabs). This also killed Edge when the last tab was closed.

If, by chance, the goal is to use Edge to “ping” a website then close Edge, I may have a solution.

The Chromium command line switch –no-startup-window used along with a url in Edge seem to have the effect of closing the application after background-loading the specified page in the background. The bits of documentation I’ve been able to find about Chromium’s command-line switchesI’ve been able to find for this imply that the application should stay running in the background, but that does not seem to be the case (for me anyway) when used this way.

For example, if you wanted to schedule a recurring background random Bing search, like so you could (hypothetically) auto-collect ⁕ Microsoft’s Search & Earn points, you may be able to schedule an event to run a batch file every couple hours, something like:

The only way I could tell it was doing anything at all was by watching the Task Manager for Microsoft Edge to appear for a split second.

⁕ This is just an example use case and is probably against the program’s terms so don’t actually use it for that.

In this post, you will learn how to Enable or Disable Sleeping Tabs in Microsoft Edge Chromium. Microsoft introduced Sleeping tabs in Microsoft Edge to improve the memory and CPU usage of the browser. Sleeping tabs built on the core of Chromium’s “freezing” technology (which pauses a tab’s script timers to minimize resource usage) to create sleeping tabs. Sleeping tabs allow inactive background tabs to “go to sleep”, releasing system resources (memory and CPU) after a set amount of time for other tabs or applications running on your device.

Microsoft Edge typically increases battery life as a sleeping tab uses 26% less CPU on average compared to a non-sleeping tab. It also reduces memory usage by 16% on average. Your overall savings with sleeping tabs will vary based upon your browser usage and the total numbers of tabs you use. The more tabs you have, the more savings you’ll see.3

Newer versions of Microsoft Edge web browser (version 91 and later) come with a new “Tab Actions Menu” icon or button which is shown at the left-side corner of the tab bar or title bar.

Actually the “Tab Actions Menu” button is not a new addition. Microsoft has renamed the previous “ Vertical Tabs ” button to “Tab Actions Menu” and also added following 3 items under the new menu:

  • Turn on vertical tabs
  • Recently closed
  • Add all tabs to a new collection

So the previous Vertical Tabs button has now become a dedicated menu called “Tab Actions Menu”.

If you don’t want to use the new “Tab Actions Menu” button and find it unnecessary, you can hide or remove the extra button from the title bar to get some free space.

Fortunately, Microsoft allows users to get rid of the “Tab Actions Menu” button in Microsoft Edge.

Following methods will help you in removing or disabling new “Tab Actions Menu” button or icon from title bar in Microsoft Edge browser:

METHOD 1:

Open Microsoft Edge and right-click on Tab Actions Menu button in toolbar and select “Hide from toolbar” option from context menu. It’ll immediately hide the button in the toolbar.

METHOD 2:

Alternatively, you can remove the Tab Actions Menu button using Microsoft Edge Settings page as described in following steps:

1. Open Microsoft Edge browser and click on the 3-dots menu button present at the right-side of the toolbar. Now select Settings option from the main menu.

Alternatively, you can press ALT+F keys together to show Edge Menu and then press S key to open Settings page. You can also directly open Edge Settings page using edge://settings/ URL in address bar.

2. Now click on Appearance tab in left sidebar and in right-side pane, you’ll see Customize toolbar section.

To remove Tab Actions Menu button from Microsoft Edge toolbar, disable or set the Show tab actions menu option to OFF.

It’ll immediately delete Tab Actions Menu button from Microsoft Edge toolbar.

PS: In future, if you want to restore Tab Actions Menu button in Microsoft Edge toolbar, enable the Show tab actions menu option again.

If your browser fails or your computer system is unintentionally switched off, Microsoft Edge offers the handy function of restoring your previously opened tabs. You will be able to resume where you left off whenever you turn on your computer system and reopen the Microsoft Edge browser. Some users, however, do not want their browser to function in this manner. When people switch on their computer after a crash, they may not want other users to look at their activity. As a result, such users must have a way out. In this post, we’ll show you how to prevent the Microsoft Edge browser from recovering tabs after a crash in Windows 10.

Stopping Microsoft Edge Browser from Restoring the Tabs after a Crash in Windows 10

To prevent the Microsoft Edge browser from automatically restoring tabs after a crash on Windows 10, take these steps:

To open the registry editor window, type regedit in the search box of your taskbar and click the search result. The following image depicts the freshly launched Registry Editor window:

Now right click on any empty space in the right pane of the Registry Editor window in order to launch a menu as shown in the following image:

Select the New option from the cascading menu and then select Key from the sub-cascading menu as highlighted in the image shown above.

Rename the newly created key as MicrosoftEdge. This is highlighted in the image shown below:

Type “2” in the Value Data text field as highlighted in the image shown above and finally, click on the OK button in order to save your settings. Now, the Microsoft Edge browser will no longer recover the tabs after a crash in Windows 10.

Conclusion

You can easily stop Microsoft Edge browser and restore the tabs after a crash by using the method described in this article. You simply need to be cautious with your Registry Editor when executing these procedures since even a minor oversight might result in disaster. If you do these instructions successfully, however, your Microsoft Edge browser will not be able to restore tabs after a crash.

Earlier this year Microsoft announced it was working on a vertical tab User Interface for Edge. Now it is officially released for Edge Users. The main idea behind the Vertical tabs UI is to give users more control over tabs. The people who have lot of tabs open have finding difficulties in finding the specific tab and also every time while opening a new tab, the tab title is getting shorter so it is very difficult to find the specific tab. And Traditional horizontal layout can be tough to navigate if you have more tabs open that your screen can accommodate. But vertical tabs gives you a scrollable interface with a good amount of space to read the tab title. You can enable the Vertical tab using Edge settings. If you want to disable or restrict users to access the Vertical tab button then this article will guide you to Disable Vertical Tabs in Microsoft Edge.

Disable Vertical Tabs in Microsoft Edge:

Note: Modifying the Registry is risky, and it causes irreversible damage to your OS Installation Follow the steps correctly. Friendly advice Before Modifying Registry Creating Restore Point is recommended.

Click on Ok and close the Registry key. Relaunch the browser now and open the Edge menu and choose Settings.

And under Settings, click on Appearance, and from the right-hand side Under Customize toolbar, you can see the Show vertical tabs toggle button is greyed out.

If you want to enable it back, just enter the DWORD value as 1 or just delete the DWORD.

Microsoft has unveiled the latest batch of changes coming to Windows 10. Most are usability improvements, though fans of the Control Panel might be concerned.

The changes come in the latest release in the Windows Insider Dev Channel. That’s recommend only for the most technically confident users and is the first place that new features and changes are tested by people outside of Microsoft itself.

One change had already leaked, namely the appearance of the tiles in the Start menu. They will now be partially transparent and will reflect the user’s choice of a light or dark theme, the idea being to make sure nothing in the Start menu is too visually jarring.

Alt-Tab Changes Focus

There will also be a change to one of the most basic actions in Windows: using Alt + Tab to switch between Windows. At the moment this simply switches between windows and therefore only switches to the active tab in a web browser.

The change means the default will be that when Alt + Tab reaches a window with a web browser, each subsequent press of the Tab button will switch to the next tab in the browser. Once it gets to the last tab, the next press will switch to the next window in sequence.

Users will be able to change the settings to only go through three or five tabs this way, or to return to the current system. (Source: windows.com)

System Information Moves Home

Another change is to the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen. This will now be automatically customized to reduce clutter and only show relevant icons, which will depend on whether the user has linked an Android phone to their PC and/or has an Xbox Live account on the PC.

Notifications in the bottom-right corner of the screen will now list the app that has created the icon.

Finally, some of the key information that appears on the System page in the Control Panel will move to the Settings -> System -> Control Panel page in the Settings menu. Microsoft believes that will reduce redundancy in finding information, but the news has prompted fears that it may have started the process of downplaying and eventually phasing out the Control Panel. (Source: techradar.com)

What’s Your Opinion?

Does the Start Menu’s appearance matter? Would you find the Alt-Tab changes useful? Is system information best placed in Control Panel or the Settings menus?

This post will help you change Alt+Tab settings in Windows 10. When we press Alt+Tab hotkey, it shows the thumbnails of opened windows and Microsoft Edge tabs and helps switch from one application to another. If you want, you can customize this default Alt+Tab behavior you can do so.

  • One option lets you use the old or classic Alt+Tab menu (also known as Task Switcher) that shows only icons of opened programs and not thumbnails.
  • The second option helps to set whether you want to hide or show Microsoft Edge tabs in the Alt+Tab menu, show only opened windows, opened windows, and 3 most recent tabs of Microsoft Edge, etc.

Change Alt+Tab settings in Windows 11/0

Before you do so, make sure that the Alt+Tab hotkey is working fine. If Alt+Tab keys are not working, then you should fix it first. After that, try the following methods to customize Alt+Tab settings:

  1. Using Registry Editor
  2. Using the Settings app.

1] Switch to old Alt+Tab menu using Registry Editor

This method helps to switch from the modern or default Alt+Tab menu to the old Alt+Tab menu and vice-versa.

  1. Open Registry Editor
  2. Access Explorer key
  3. Create AltTabSettings DWORD value
  4. Change value data of AltTabSettings DWORD value.

Go to Explorer key. Its path is-

Under Explorer key, create AltTabSettings DWORD value. For this, right-click on that key, go to the New menu, and click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.

When the value is created, rename it to AltTabSettings.

Double-click that AltTabSettings value and a small box will open. There, in the Value data field, add 1, and press OK.

Now restart File Explorer. Use Alt+Tab hotkey. You will see that the classic Alt+Tab menu is visible.

To revert the changes, follow the above steps, add 0 in the Value data field, and again restart File Explorer to use the default Alt+Tab menu.

2] Show or hide Microsoft Edge Tabs in Alt+Tab menu using Settings app

This option helps to set if you want to show only opened windows, opened windows as well as Microsoft Edge tabs, etc. Let’s see how to do it.

  1. Launch the Windows 11 Settings app using Win+I hotkey
  2. Click on System
  3. Access Multitasking on the right-hand section
  4. Open the Alt+Tab section drop-down on the right-hand side
  5. Use that menu and take the necessary action.

In Windows 10, the setting is here:

Using these two native ways, you are able to customize Alt+Tab settings.

In case you want to customize Alt+Tab in a different way like changing its background dimming, make the grid background transparent, opaque, etc., then you can try our free tool AltPlusTab.

Easily hide the Title Bar in Microsoft Edge!

As of now, there are hundreds of web browsers available for the Windows 10 operating system. However, out of all those, it was Chrome, Edge, and Firefox that stands out.

If we talk about Microsoft’s Edge browser, the browser is based on the Chromium project, and hence it supports all Google Chrome’s extensions and themes.

Although Microsoft’s new Edge browser is not as popular as Chrome, it’s still more stable and flexible. Recently, Microsoft introduced a new feature to its Edge browser that lets you hide the title bar.

Hiding the Title bar might not be convenient for everyone, but Microsoft Edge can be seen with a visual overhaul.

Hiding just the title bar brings a fresh new look to the web browser. So, in this article, we will share a detailed guide on hiding the title bar in Microsoft Edge.

That’s it! You are done. This is how you can hide the title bar in the Microsoft Edge browser (Stable Build)

So, this guide is all about hiding the title bar in the Microsoft Edge browser (Stable Build). I hope this article helped you! Please share it with your friends also. If you have any doubts related to this, let us know in the comment box below.

Even though Microsoft has been causing a lot of headaches lately with feature changes, bugs, and some other unnecessary tomfoolery, it seems like it will hit a few subtle home runs according to the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview build . It offers some cosmetic changes, like theme-aware tiles in Start that will change the color of the Start tiles based on what main color you have selected in the Personalize section and Taskbar will also start off a little cleaner, only showing you the most relevant icons based on whether not you have a linked Android phone or Xbox account . But the feature I’m most excited about is the ability to Alt + Tab through Edge browser tabs like they are separate windows.

I don’t even use Edge at the moment. M y life is tied up in Google Chrome. Yet this is the most compelling feature of Edge to actually make me want to switch—assuming it eventually rolls out to regular Windows 10 users. I’m sure it seems like such a small, weird thing to switch browsers over, but I’ve been relying on Alt + Tab so much more since I downgraded from two monitors to one. I love all the extra desk space, but not being able to quickly scan from one window to the next on another monitor feels, well, so much slower. I haven’t fully adjusted yet.

Opening multiple windows to Alt + Tab through has been my solution so far. Y es, it defeats the entire point of browser tabs and Ctrl + Tab in the first place. I know b rowser tabs were designed to get rid of all that window clutter in your Taskbar and that I should just Ctrl + Tab . But for all of Windows 10 flaws, the beauty in it is how adaptable it generally is to the average user.

Like dealing with the Taskbar. There are multiple ways to do things. Y ou can make desktop shortcuts and completely ignore the Taskbar. Or you can leave your desktop icon-free and put all the shortcuts in the Taskbar and never touch the Start menu. Or you can leave the Taskbar for your most used programs and use the Start bar to scroll through the ones you use once a month. We all have different ways of doing things, and this new Edge feature is made with that same spirit.

I like having a thumbnail view of all my open windows. For whatever reason, it helps my brain more quickly remember what was on the page, and Alt + Tab is closer to emulating a dual-monitor experience then Ctrl + Tab (no, I’ve never liked the way Windows does the whole snap a window to one side of the screen thing). Also, it feels like I can cycle through windows faster than I can cycle through browser tabs.
