Public school students in Illinois show some improvement academically from the setbacks of remote learning during the pandemic.
The Illinois Report Card shows reading scores bounced back indicating 35% of students are proficient in reading and writing. That number is up from 30% over the last two years but below the pre-pandemic levels of 38%.
Math scores fell, as 27% of students are proficient in math. The rate was 32% before the pandemic.
