The Illinois law enforcement community is receiving guidance on how to assist people who are experiencing homelessness.

Illinois State Police has released the first Illinois law enforcement response to homelessness guidebook, featuring analysis on various strategies and programs that have been successful in other jurisdictions. Among other subjects, the guide looks at the role of specialized units that address mental health and effectively manage encampments, property seizures and court systems.
