Gospel Versus Religion

The centerpiece of Tim Keller’s ministry has been his learning of the doctrine of the gospel, spotlighting the doctrines of unmerited grace, total depravity, and substitutionary atonement.

This teaching is summed up in his oft-used explanation,

“The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.”
