Is the viral Star Wars pregnant Rey image real or fake? HITC investigates.
Do you still remember how you felt seeing the very first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens? For most fans of the monumental sci-fi franchise, that feeling has proven unforgettable and to say it gave goosebumps simply wouldn’t do the experience justice.
Since the series was resurrected, we’ve seen the franchise expand on Disney+ with shows such as The Mandalorian and The Book Of Boba Fett. However, some have been keen to revisit the central cast members of the modern trilogy.
Namely, a sizable section of the fandom has been determined to reunite with Rey, played by Daisy Ridley. She was established in The Force Awakens as a Jakku scavenger but eventually discovers the truth behind her lineage.
More recently, some were shocked to find an image of Rey pregnant in Star Wars while scrolling through Twitter, but is it authentic or fake?
Star Wars image of pregnant Rey debunked
The image of a pregnant Rey is not taken from an official Star Wars project that was unveiled at this year’s Star Wars Celebration. It has been faked.
Twitter user Thatstarwarsgrl shared the image with the caption: “Disney’s biggest reveal at SW celebration: Force Ghost Kylo Ren knocked up Rey…”
For those unfamiliar, Star Wars Celebration is a fan convention held to celebrate the franchise and takes place annually at different locations. The 2023 edition was hosted in London and took place between the 7th and 10th of April.
The image being retweeted was not captured there. Nevertheless, it has amassed 264.9k views at the time of writing.
‘Pregnant Rey is a fake, correct?’
Needless to say, the image has reached many pairs of eyes and some are uncertain whether to trust the authenticity of the image.
Others, however, have simply shared their reaction. Check out a selection of tweets:
Pregnant Rey? My question is this, the movie "Star Wars: New Jedi Order" is listed as In Development. This is earliest stage of production meaning they should not have filmed anything yet so where did this still come from?

A Rey movie is on the way
Although the pregnant image is a fake, it was announced during Star Wars Celebration that Rey will return in a new movie that takes place 15 years after the events of The Rise Of Skywalker.
Daisy Ridley will reprise the role and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy shared a taste of what’s to come while discussing the project with IGN.
“Well we’re 15 years out from Rise Of Skywalker, so we’re post-war, post-First Order, and the Jedi are in disarray,” Kathleen said.
“There’s a lot of discussion around, ‘Who are the Jedi? What are they doing? What’s the state of the galaxy?’ She’s attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order, based on the books, based on what she promised Luke, so that’s where we’re going.”
The movie has been announced but hasn’t entered production yet, so the aforementioned image couldn’t have been teasing the project.
