The Pleasant Valley High School community is mourning the tragic and sudden death of promising junior, Jayne Moritz.

Jayne Moritz of Bettendorf, Iowa, died unexpectedly by suicide on Sunday, September 10, 2023. Jayne was a bright shining light. So beautiful and full of life. She had so much life to live.

“Dear PVHS Families, It is with great sadness that we share with you that last evening PV junior Jayne Moritz passed away,” Pleasant Valley High School principal said in a letter to the school’s PTA.

“We know that your child will have varied reactions to the death of a classmate. Any reaction is normal in the grief process and can range from withdrawal, to crying and anger. This evening, please openly discuss with your child their reactions and feelings regarding the passing of Jayne.”

Special counseling services will be made available to students and will continue to be available through the week and longer, if needed.
