Three of Lizzo‘s former backup dancers have accused the singer of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment in a lawsuit filed on Tuesday. The lawsuit also names Lizzo’s production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc, and Shirlene Quigley, captain of Lizzo’s dance team, as defendants.

The dancers – plaintiffs Arianna Davis, Noelle Rodriguez, and Crystal Williams – alleged racial, religious, and sexual harassment, and disability discrimination among other accusations. In the complaint obtained by CNN, one of the three plaintiffs also claimed that the Grammy winner encouraged her to”take turns touching the nude performers” at a live show in Amsterdam’s Red Light District.

HITC and GRV Media have reached out to Lizzo and other defendants for comment about the allegations. However, we did not receive an immediate response.

It all began in June 2019 when Evans replied to a video Lizzo – real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson – tweeted of a fan dancing to her song, Juice. “This kid is cooler than I could ever hope to be,” the actor praised, prompting the singer to respond like a true fangirl: “Wow marry me,” she said.

Almost two years later, the unexpected friendship – or in Lizzo’s case, potential romance – reignited when the 2 Be Loved hitmaker drunkenly slid into his DMs in April 2021. It wasn’t anything spicy, Lizzo was literally shooting her shot by sending three emojis: a gust-of-wind, a woman playing basketball, and a basketball emoji.

“Don’t drink and DM, kids…” she told TikTok fans.

Surprisingly, drinking and messaging really do work on an A-list actor as Chris responded: “No shame in a drunk DM. God knows I’ve done worse on this app lol.” He was most likely referring to his accidental nude upload of 2020.

The stars officially secured an online friendship, and Lizzo continued the antics by running with a false fan rumor that she was pregnant with the Captain America actor.

“This is something I’ve really been trying to keep personal and private just between me and the father of my child,” she joked. “But since we’re airing out all of the rumors today, I’ve been sucking in. We’re gonna have a little America.”

Thankfully, Chris Evans was a good sport and reached out to Lizzo: “Hi! Just heard about our little bundle of joy. My mother will be so happy lol,” he laughed.

There was no backlash at the time of their interactions, but fans are now dubbing the flirty Chris-Lizzo friendship as a “red flag”.

“The Lizzo thing doesn’t surprise me all that much when I think about that one interview she gave where she mentioned her sexual fantasy regarding Chris Evans,” one brought up on Twitter. If you’ve forgotten, Lizzo revealed her NSFW dreams in 2021, where she pictured the actor “naked in the green room and has body shots all on his chest.”
