Mark Chambers Obituary: 40-year-old man dead, officer injured in Northampton shooting.

The Northampton, Pennsylvania, shooting death of a man on Sunday is being looked into by the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

According to a press statement, the shooting happened just before 7:30 p.m. in the township’s Churchville neighbourhood in the 500 block of Elm Avenue. The DA has not yet given many specifics about the incident.

According to a news release issued by Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck on Monday afternoon, Mark Chambers, 40, of Northampton, was transferred to St. Mary Medical Centre and later declared deceased. She concluded that he was the victim of a homicide and stated that he had sustained many gunshot wounds.

“It is important to note that homicide as a manner of death refers to death at the hands of another,” Buck said.

The DA claims that an officer from Northampton was also treated for injuries sustained in the incident.

The police officer was not named in the press statement issued by the DA’s office or the coroner, nor was it stated whether the wounded officer was the shooter or whether the suspect was carrying a weapon.

Buck added a few new facts, stating that a man was trying to kill himself with a knife when police were called to the house in the first 911 call.

According to Buck’s statement in the release, when the police arrived on the scene, they were confronted by a man approaching them while brandishing a big knife.

Until it concludes its investigation and makes a conclusion regarding the shooting, the District Attorney will not be able to speak further or reveal the identities of the officer and suspect.
