Shan Masood Khan, born on October 14, 1989, in Kuwait, is the son of Mansoor Masood Khan, a successful professional banker, and Anjum, a housewife.

Shan’s father became a member of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2014, and his uncle, Waqar Masood Khan, served as Finance Secretary of Pakistan during Imran Khan’s government.

Shan faced criticism for his affluent background, with some accusing his selection in the Pakistan team of nepotism.

In domestic matches, he was even teased with the nickname “Parchi,” a term mocking wealthy individuals.

Tragically, Shan’s elder sister, Mishal Hameeda Khan, suffered from a rare chromosome disorder, impeding her mental development.

She passed away in October 2021 at the age of 35. Shan has a younger brother, Ali Masood, who is a barrister.

Shan Masood married Nische Khan on January 21, 2023, in Peshawar, Pakistan, with their valima ceremony taking place on January 27, 2023, in Karachi.

Shan’s cricket journey began at the age of 5 when he joined a cricket academy. Despite facing challenges during the Gulf War in 1990, his family returned to Pakistan, settling in Karachi. Shan pursued cricket alongside his studies, initially in Karachi and later in Lincolnshire, England.

After completing his education at Loughborough University, he turned into a professional cricketer.

Shan made his debut in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 2007 and has since played in various domestic tournaments, captaining teams like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Southern Punjab.

His international debut came in 2013 in a test match against South Africa. He has achieved notable milestones in test matches, scoring centuries and half-centuries against teams like Sri Lanka, England, South Africa, and Bangladesh.

In ODIs, Shan made his debut against Australia in 2019, showcasing his talent with a half-century against Australia.
