The game between Milwaukee Lutheran High School and Pius XI Catholic was billed as a night of fun and excitement. Gunshots, however, sent kids, parents, and professors into a panic as the evening suddenly took a terrible turn. The Milwaukee Police Department responded to the situation very away, but there are still a lot of unsolved concerns.
Several loud explosions were reportedly heard across the stadium as the rounds were fired at the beginning of the game’s fourth quarter. The players and umpires stopped the game as people started to flee in search of safety and cover. The terror and uncertainty among spectators were captured on Milwaukee Lutheran’s webcast of the game during the event.
Thankfully, no injuries were indicated during the incident. The effect on kids, teachers, and families, however, must not be underestimated. Many people will find it difficult to forget what happened that night since they were traumatised by the occurrence. There are steps that need to be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future, and the police have requested anyone with information about the incident to come forward to aid their investigations.
The question of how the gun entered the school event is one of the most urgent ones. Preventing the entry of weapons must be a major priority due to the increased danger of crimes being perpetrated at such public events.
Hiring more security professionals with emergency response experience can be another option. More eyes and ears on the ground may help authorities spot possible sources of violence and take preventative action. Additionally, adding more security guards can have the added advantage of giving attendees of events peace of mind.
