People in a small community of Illinois are looking for answers after the discovery of a missing woman’s body.   Illinois State Police found the body of 62-year-old Deborah Dewey on Monday, September 12. Officers located her buried outside a home in Standard, Illinois.   “I just would like to know why the heck they did that to her. There’s no reason for that,” said Noreen Griffin.   Griffin owns Softails Bar and Grill, which is right across the street from Dewey’s apartment in Ladd, Illinois. Griffin says when she first found out Dewey was missing, she was hoping police would find her alive. Now, Griffin just wants answers, saying: “It was horrible. It just made me wonder where did they have her for three weeks, because she’s been gone for three weeks. It just makes you wonder what the heck happened to her. “   Neighbors tell us the house where Dewey’s body was found on 5th Street and IL Route 71 is an old gas station, converted into a home. They say it’s been empty for more than five years.   Before Monday’s gruesome discovery, Dewey had been missing for about three weeks. She  was last seen on August 22 in Spring Valley, Illinois, the next town over from Ladd. A week later, on August 29, her car was found unlocked at a truck stop more than 45 miles away on IL Route 47, just north of I-80.    On Tuesday, September 13, police got a warrant to search a home on 8th Street in Standard, just three blocks away from where Dewey’s body was found. That’s where police say they found ‘several items’ of evidence. They say they interviewed three people and arrested 66-year-old Clifford Anderson on a charge of Concealing a Death.    The LaSalle News Tribune reports Anderson is Dewey’s brother-in-law.   “I think that it was just very shocking all around. I think they want closure brought to the family. I think they just want to know what happened,” said Alec Virgo, who lives in Ladd & knew Dewey.   Still no word on exactly what caused Dewey’s death. Anderson is being held at the Bureau County Jail on a $750,000 bond. The homicide investigation is ongoing.
