Who was Nira Chhantya? Biography, Died In Nepal Plane Crash

Nira Chhantyal was a folk singer. She died in a plane crash along with 67 people in Nepal on 22 January 2023.

That plane was going towards Pokhara from Kathmandu when the plane crashed. It collided with a hill before reaching Pokhara airport.

She was going to Pokhara to attend a concert. Her songs were liked by people in Nepal. One month before, she shared a song on YouTube.

Her most loved song was Pirtiko Dori. The plane crashed because of a technical fault.

Nira’s death news was confirmed by her sister Heera Chantyal Sherchan.

In the plane, there were 53 Nepalis, 5 Indians, Two Koreans, One Argentine, four Russians, and one each from Ireland, Australia, and France. The Indians were Abhisekh Kushwaha, Bishal Sharma, Anil Kumar Rajbhar, Sanjaya Jaiswal, and Sonu Jaiswal. 

The Ambassador of Nepal to India was quoted as, 

“Deeply saddened by crash of a plane carrying 72 passengers and crew members, including some Indians in Pokhara. We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy.”

Nira was born in the Baglung region of Nepal and lived in Kathmandu. She participated in events with a sense of national tradition.
