Avtar: The Way Of Water

Pavani is a part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Avatar: The Way of Water is, to put it mildly, mesmerising in all you see. The follow-up to James Cameron’s Avatar (2009) is an incredible visual effects achievement, from the newly added computer-generated creatures on Pandora to the realistic water. WFX, the studio responsible for some of the film’s eye-catching moments, provided the majority of the magnificent shots. Since the first movie, when Pandora first visited the exosolar moon, their visual effects supervisor Pavani Rao Boddapati has been a part of Pandora’s ten-year adventure. When she wasn’t completing projects for movies like The Hobbit Trilogy and Maze Runner: The Sorch Trails, that is.

Career

Pavani Rao Boddapati worked as a Lighting Technical Director on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, which was my first job in the movie business. It’s a dream come true for me to be working on the Avatar sequels! On my third trip, I’m eager to explore more of Pandora. The Avatar sequels’ production has been a great experience. The amount of labour that goes into making every pixel of a movie frame, such as Avatar, is the most astounding aspect of my job. The amount of thought and care that goes into each and every asset, as well as the number of iterations necessary to achieve the level of quality that consumers have come to expect from Weta Digital, frequently astounds people.

Challange Shoot

When asked about the difficult scene in the film where Sigourney Weaver’s Kiri speaks to her father Jake, Pavani told the portal that it was one of the first shots they had worked on back in 2018 because it required brand-new technology to get this light underwater with interaction. They spent close to six to eight months perfecting it. She said that particular picture holds a special place in her heart because it served as a trial run for how they planned to execute many more such photos.
