Social media is buzzing about the effort to bring a Portillo’s to the Quad Cities.
The 15-month-old facebook group “Bring Portillo’s to the Quad Cities” posted yesterday that it appears the restaurant chain will come to Moline, and it’s trying to find a site that best fits its criteria.
Portillo’s is known for its Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, and milkshakes.
The company said last year that it’s opening several locations in the midwest and are considering the Quad Cities, but nothing is official just yet.
The “Bring Portillo’s to the Quad Cities” facebook page has over 15,000 likes. Check it out here.
SOUND OFF: Let us know what you think on our Facebook page. Do you think Moline is the right location, and where should it go?
Here’s the text of yesterday’s post:
“The difficulty of this process seems to lie within site selection. Portillo’s is extremely specific as to where they will locate a restaurant and they are very data driven. It does appear that Moline will be the place, but it is now about finding a site that fits their criteria. What we may feel is a great location may not be in their eyes. All of their locations are built from the ground up which takes time. This seems to be a very calculated approach to locating within the QCA, but we are certain it will be happening. Keith Kinsey, Portillo’s CEO, is from Moline. We did receive a message from Mr. Kinsey this morning and we will be kept up to date on the developments.”
