A Bettendorf neighborhood could be the next to battle over a proposed Kwik Star — something we saw in LeClaire earlier this year.

Many homeowners in the Maple Glen area say they oppose a proposed Kwik Star in the area.

The proposal was first brought up in December.

Since then, several meetings and zoning hearings have taken place.

According to homeowners, the project is still moving forward despite opposition from neighborhoods.

Homeowners say the increased traffic at an already congested intersection is their main concern.

“I know we have a little horseshoe shape here,” said Pat Cresap, homeowners association president. “And for us to even leave this, we just sit, and wait, and wait, and wait. We have the good fortune that we can time when we come and go, a good deal of us are retired, but there are people that work. “

The Bettendorf council plans to meet tonight and tomorrow at 5 p.m. for the committee of the whole.

Residents of the Maple Glen neighborhood are encouraged to attend both meetings,  although comments will only be taken at tomorrow’s meeting.
