What is the net worth of Haas F1 Team owner, Gene Haas? How did the American make his money before entering the series in 2016? Is he active anywhere else in motorsport?

Excluding renamed teams such as Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri who already existed before, Haas F1 Team is the newest of the squads in Formula 1.

Making their debut in 2016, the team, founded by US manufacturing giant Gene Haas – have had an eventful few years in F1.

The first three years were high, with Haas finishing sixth in the 2018 championship, before the slide started.

Uncompetitive machinery in 2020 saw the team claim just three points, with zero being scored in ’21.

The team has had to deal with the aftermath of Romain Grosjean’s fiery Bahrain accident, tensions between Grosjean and teammate Kevin Magnussen as well current driver Nikita Mazepin.

But who is the owner of Haas F1, Gene Haas? What’s his net worth and which other top motorsport series is he heavily involved in?

Gene Haas net worth revealed

Gene Haas was born in Ohio in November 1952, and upon completing his studies received a Bachelor of Science degree.

In 1978, he moved into being a business owner, forming Haas Automation Inc in the mid-1980s.

By the late ’80s, he was producing CNC machines – which work by automating control of machines working with materials by following a preset code.

It is now the largest machine tool manufacturer on the planet, and in 2014, revenues topped $1 billion for the first time.

Gene Haas’ net worth in 2022 is estimated to be around $250 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth.

In 2006, Haas was arrested by IRS agents on suspicion of filing false tax returns.

He was sentenced to two years in prison, and paid a £75 million fine, before being released in May 2009 after 16 months inside.

Haas in motorsport

F1 was not Gene Haas’s first foray in motor racing.

In 2002, he entered the NASCAR Cup Series as Haas CNC Racing.

Results were hard to come by, the team not taking a win until 2009 when two-time Cup champion Tony Stewart came aboard.

It was renamed as Stewart Haas Racing and has since become one of NASCAR’s most dependable teams.

Stewart claimed the 2011 Cup title for the team, with Kevin Harvick delivering another in 2014.

In total, SHR has claimed 66 Cup wins, and 22 in the XFinity Series, including all variants of the team.

It’s last win, as after the 2022 Daytona 500, came courtesy of Aric Almirola in the #10 car at New Hampshire in 2021.

In F1, Haas finished sixth on debut with Grosjean in Australia 2016.

Since then, the best result the team has managed was fourth and fifth in the 2018 Austrian Grand Prix.

Grosjean claimed fourth and Magnussen fifth in Haas’s strongest of its 122 entries, as of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
