The 2023 F1 season will mostly be remembered for the dominance of Red Bull and Max Verstappen. But when it comes to other teams and drivers, they have had an average or below-average season. For teams like Aston Martin and McLaren, things were very impressive. Whereas, when we talk about drivers, Norris, Alonso, Piastri, and Albon had an outstanding season. But for drivers like Leclerc, Perez, and George Russell, things were inconsistent.

During the 2022 season, Leclerc, Perez, and Russell were the table-toppers after Max Verstappen. But in the current season, Perez has achieved the number 2 spot in the championship with inconsistent qualifying performances. Whereas, Leclerc and Russell, who ended up in the second and fourth positions, respectively, in the 2022 F1 standings, are below the top 5 this season.

Looking at his performances, George Russell was quite unhappy and said,

“This has probably been the scrappiest season of my life.”

If we take a look at his 2022 season performance, he has won one grand prix and eight podium finishes, with a total of 275 points. Whereas, in the 2023 season, he has only managed to secure one podium finish and has only scored 160 points in his tally.

Before that, in the 2019, 2020, and 2021 seasons, he managed to score 19 points and one podium finish collectively. But that was with the Williams Racing Team, and compared to Mercedes, this performance is a lot better.

Yes, according to him, his 2023 season might be disappointing, but he can surely make his comeback in the upcoming season. If you remember, he finished ahead of Hamilton in the 2022 season and has the caliber to produce such performances in the upcoming season.
