Tapas Sandilya is a retired government employee. He is 65 years old Kolkata man. Recently He installed a Rs 2.5 lakh silicon statue of his late wife at his home.

His wife Indrani passed away during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and has set up a replica to fulfill her wishes.

Sandilya is a retired government employee.  He is a Kolkata man.  His wife passed away during the second week of covide-19. He is recently in the limelight because he fulfilled his wife’s wishes and he has installed a Rs 2.5 lakh silicone statue.

In the statue, she wears the gold jewelry she loved most when she was alive and the Assamese silk sari she wore to her son’s wedding reception.

Tapas Sandilya has made a statue of his late wife which looks very real as she is sitting on the sofa. He had lost his wife during the Covid-19 pandemic’s second wave.

The statue weighs 30 kg and is sitting on a sofa at Indrani’s favorite spot on VIP Road. In their statue, his late wife wears the gold jewelry she loved most when she was alive and the Assamese silk sari she wore to her son’s wedding reception.

The sculptor of his late wife’s statue, Subimal Das. Das took more than six months to complete the figure, which was inspired by a statue of ISKCON temple founder AC Bhaktivedanta Swami that the couple had seen in Mayapur.

“We visited the Iskcon temple in Mayapur a decade ago and could not stop admiring the lifelike statue of the order’s founder, AC Bhaktivedanta Swami. It was then Indrani had told me of her desire for a similar statue (of hers) if she happened to pass away before me,” Tapas recalled in a conversation with the Times of India.

Subimal Das, 46, who mainly makes silicone replicas for museums, described it as one of his most challenging projects.
