Robert Dotson was a native of Farmington, New Mexico. He was a homeowner who was shot dead by police on April 5, 2023. In a disturbing video provided by Farmington police, the cops can be seen realizing they are at the wrong house just before they shoot Dotson, who opens his door brandishing a gun.

As the police begin to retreat to the wrong house, Dotson arrives, opens the door, and pulls out a firearm. In a panic, the officer can be heard saying, “Hey! Hey!” before shooting Dotson at close range.
About a minute later, a woman’s scream was heard from the house. The woman, later identified as Robert Dotson’s widow, Kimberly Jones-Dotson, she suddenly appears at the door with another weapon.
A traumatized officer mutters under his breath, ‘Please, don’t,’ as if he is anticipating another bloody shootout. The officers retaliate after the woman shoots at them.
According to state police, the woman dropped her gun when she realized that the people outside her residence were police officers.
