Not to alarm you or anything, but it looks as though Joe Alwyn just put a Paper Ring on Taylor Swift’s finger.
According to Life & Style Mag, Swift and Alwyn are reportedly engaged after five years of dating, and we need to calm down (we’re being too loud).
Reports on the subject are coming out left, right, and centre, but some fans aren’t all that happy. Here’s why…

Reports say Taylor Swift is engaged
We’ve all heard the rumours from Inez, but this time, it might actually be time to pop the Champagne (Problems).
First reported by Life & Style Mag and then confirmed by In Touch, multiple sources have told the outlets that Taylor Swift is engaged to Joe Alwyn.
The two started dating in 2016 and, unlike relationships that Taylor had prior, their romance has always been pretty low profile.
In fact, talking to British Vogue back in 2018, the singer explained: “I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private, and that has now sunk in for people … but I really prefer to talk about work.”

Why fans are angry at engagement reports
Although fans couldn’t be more excited for Miss Swift to eventually tie the knot, frustration is growing amongst Swifties because they wanted Taylor to be the one to announce the reported news.
Joe Alwyn and Taylor Swift engagement rumours are something that fans know All Too Well, and there are even theories floating about that the two are already married. Given all this information, we get why fans are dubious.
One disheartened fan tweeted: “Couldn’t we wait for Taylor to announce it, if true?”
Another wrote: “how am I expected to go about my day without having actual confirmation that international superstar Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are engaged????”

Somebody else took to Twitter: “Apparently she’s engaged but idk if she’ll come on and announce it but when she started dating Joe Alwyn it was announced through news articles and she never announced herself.”

Another added: “But Taylor hasn’t said anything yet.”
Others even suggest that Taylor could release a music video of Love Story (Taylor’s Version) or Paper Rings (Taylor’s Version) to announce the news of the reported engagement.
We’ll just have to wait for Taylor to Speak Now.
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have sparked engagement rumours before
Taylor Swift is now reportedly engaged – for real. In the past, however, the singer and Alwyn have sparked engagement rumours many a time.
In January of this year, The Sun reported that Joe was rumoured to pop the question on a three-day visit to Cornwall.
Likewise, in December 2020, Seventeen reported ‘signs’ that Swift was engaged after she referenced a wedding in her song Lover.
In November 2021, Music Times published an article also exploring Swift and Alwyn engagement rumours.
Several other articles have published engagement claims about the couple between 2020 and 2022.
Let’s hope that we get some confirmation from the happy couple.
