Ybeth Bruzual is a well-known Puerto Rican-American news journalist currently working as a news anchor and reporter for Spectrum 13 News. She has been with Spectrum News 13 since June 1998.

Ybeth was born to Puerto Rican parents in Venezuela. Her parents split when she was a toddler, and she never met her father. Their family relocated to Puerto Rico, and then to East Orange County, where she was reared, in 1981. Her grandma Aida encouraged her to pursue a career in media and politics.

Since 1981, when her mother moved to Orlando from Puerto Rico, Ybeth has lived in Central Florida. The enthusiastic rider speaks Spanish naturally and picked up English in Orlando.

A well-known journalist, Ybeth was recognized as one of Orlando’s Women of the Year in 2019. Two-time Emmy winner Ybeth covered the Orlando United Pulse vigil, which continues to be one of her most important stories, and received her first Emmy in 2016.

She was a member of a group that in 2018 won an Associated Press Broadcast Award for TV Magazine, Documentary, and Public Affairs. Ybeth has done a lot of political reporting for Spectrum News.

In January 2020, Ybeth traveled back to Puerto Rico to cover the island’s series of earthquakes. She was on the island for 24 hours after Puerto Rico’s worst earthquake struck, documenting the destruction and telling the stories of the locals.

For her coverage of Puerto Rico for the series Hurricane Maria: Healing a Humanitarian Crisis on the island as well as the mainland, she was nominated for a second Emmy in 2019. In addition, Ybeth has been nominated for an Emmy four times and has received numerous awards, including Valencia College’s 2018 Distinguished Alumna Award.
